Monday April 30th 2007 – 11:45am You asked, “Why the Christian joke of the 28th?” ... This is an easy one; Easter brings out the Beast in me for weeks! - Have you heard the one about Jesus walking into a hotel, tossing some nails down on the front desk and asking, "Can you put me up for the night?"
5:15am I was asked: “What is your take on Crowley’s LIBER OS ABYSMI VEL DA'ATH, do you believe it is a doorway into the Qliphothic backside of the Tree?” Answer: No. Liber CDLXXIV (474) first appeared in The Equinox Vol.I:7 pg.77 in 1912. Crowley informs us that this Liber is - “An instruction in a purely intellectual method of entering the Abyss,” which is also known as "The Book of the Mouth of the Abyss or of Knowledge (Daath)." It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the Qliphoth! If you read many of the earliest of Qabalistic text about the Qliphoth and ‘Daath’ you’d realize someone has ‘confused oranges with apples’ which has lead many good magicians astray. Liber CDLXXIV is preparing an Adept to enter the ‘Door’ by which all creation emerges. It is the secret how to go from Chesed-4 (below the Abyss) to Binah-3 (above the Abyss) when there are no paths connecting these spheres directly to each other. I highly recommend you find a copy of S. L.MacGregor Mathers’ translation of The Kabbalah Unveiled and look through the Index under the words ‘Daath’ and ‘Qliphoth’ to see where and what these concepts are properly attributed to. ... Magicians should never forget that they are scientists. You must continually be on their guard against those who have watched too many monster movies or read too much sci-fiction and who then want us to run off and fight windmills. ... “Of all our enemies those are most to be feared, who make false gods of their imagination.” – Aleister Crowley De Natura Deorum.Sunday April 29 2007 – 1:45pm I received a question from a friend making comments Qabalistically of his discoveries. I replied with added info. My answer: - Very good comments about Liber AL I:40. Let me throw come thoughts and confusion your way. If you looking close into the word, or ‘Thelemites’, you’d realize that since it is derived from Thelema which adds to 93, the ‘Three Grades’ could be taken as being numerically equivalent to 31 each. This is the numerical value of both AL or God as well as LA or NOT (Nuit); each with polarity. Thus, the Hermit (31) plus the Lover (31) and the man of Earth (31) equals 31x3 or 93. Also note the Hermit is Yod/10, the Lover is Zain/7 and the man of Earth is the Alpha & Omega or The Fool Aleph/1 plus The World/Than 400 ... this would make the math 10+7+1+400 = 418. An odd note on the man of Earth; the word ‘man’ in English Qabalah has a value of 741. Numbers 1-38 when added also equal 741. Note: AL I:60 “My number is 11, as all their numbers who are of us.” 38 x 11 = 418. And, when written in full, ‘Four hundred and eighteen’ has a value of 703 and when 38 is added to this number it equals 741. Don’t you love Qabalistic ramblings? Remember, “Nothing is coincidence.” Now regarding the Qabalistic code of AL II:76 that you also mentioned. In the verse just before this or II:75 we’re told “Aye! Listen to the numbers & the words:” the ending of which being the ‘numbers & the words’ has a numerical value of 741. After the Qabalistic code in the next verse the ending is: “to tell them this glad word”, the ‘glad word’ adds to 38. 38 from 741 = 703 ‘Four hundred and eighteen’. It is also important to note that the four elements, which comprise man, are Aleph/AIR 1 + Mem/WATER 40 + Shin/FIRE 300 + Than/EARTH 400 = 741. In the beautifully written book, The Heart of the Master, Crowley discusses the illusions spawn by our inability to see through the mud of our reality which of course comprises the four elements. The phrase which tells us that these illusions must be “shadows cast by some star” (pg.9) adds appropriately to 741. The word ‘shadows’ adds to 206 which is the same value as AL II:79 “the hiding of Hadit.” 206 also contains the mysteries of the Father (R) the Son (B) and The Holy Ghost (D) according to Liber Aleph pg.87. Further regarding the man of Earth, note that ‘Earth’ has a numerical value of 220 which is the exact number of verses in Liber AL. 220 x 19 = 418. The 19th Tarot card is the Sun. Another word adding to 220 is ‘heart’. There, I can now apologize and say it’s OK for you to shake your head and comment, “What the Hell are you talking about?”

10:25am I know that I opened up a can of worms after posting my last entry. I will not address all the emails because they are basically redundant but lets just say some women are ‘curious’ as to what happens if it is they who attempt to find the Graal Castle. Anyway, there is a Tantric mystery, too philosophically deep for this blog which explains why the male attracts the Kundry and why the female is usually exempt from this process. However, in brief, the woman’s greatest danger is not attracting a Kundry, it is in “becoming the Kundry.” When this occurs it will inevitably shut her down while she spirals downward toward Malkuth. Instead of allowing all Power to come through her, which is as it should be according to the Tantras, this particular woman creates a role reversal. Like the male magician, her ego screams importance on Malkuth and she begins to shut herself down instead of freely giving of herself through Love [not physical]. Without this inner source of Power (Liber AL I:15) moving through her she has an unconscious need to take the man’s energy. She becomes a Vampire in the true sense of the word. It is important to realize that the Tantras teach us that woman have an infinite reservoir of energy while the man has a finite quantity and must forever draw upon the Goddess for more. In Crowley’s system he acknowledges this by claiming that the woman represents the ‘circle,’ the infinity of the Universe, or the Goddess Nuit, while the man is dot within the center of this circle, the infinitesimal point, or Hadit. It is also important to realize that every women who is drawn toward a Graal Knight is not necessarily a pawn-like Kundry in order to drag him down, she can remain a ‘full moon.’ She only becomes destructive if she moves in to a ‘new moon,’ or ‘Scorpionic phase.’ However, every woman who becomes a Neophyte, entering upon Malkuth in an attempt to scale the Tree of Life in a spiritual manner similar to men, can easily embrace ruin by becoming a Kundry to themselves. What this implies might be difficult to understand but a woman has just as much difficulty in breaking free of the inertia of Malkuth, as do men. And, like men, their fall comes about by turning the majority of their attention toward Earthly ‘wants’ in order to toy with old sweetnesses and this plane thinking (Liber AL III:43).9:00am I received an email from a young man who had read my on-line piece; An Open Epistle on the Dangers of being a Neophyte and asked if I’d write something more about the actual “nature of the Kundrie.” – I replied: The Kundrie is a False Crown which manifests differently in both the man and the woman. For man this Knowledge will arrive by a Messenger. Like Klingsor in the Graal legends of Parsifal this Demon uses the duplicity and cunning of a woman to lead the male magician downward to his Castle (i.e. Earth) and to their ultimate doom. This woman is a hag known as Kundry who initially promised to guide the Knights to the sacred Graal Castle of King Amfortas, which is at the top of the mountain. However, the evil demonic Klingsor took this hideous, wild woman and transformed her into a beautiful seductress in the eyes of the Graal Knights and, out of appreciation for her transformation, Kundry aided Klingsor by leading the Knights, instead of to the Graal Castle, to their capture and doom at his Castle at the base of the mountain. In German the word Kunde means ‘news’ and hence, in Wagner’s Parsifal, Kundry, like one’s daimon, plays the role of the Messenger, bathed in either a good or bad ‘internal whispers.’ In our real world, a Kundry could actually be a real woman, a pawn of the dark demonic forces, who is unconsciously drawn to a magician for reasons even they can not understand. At times she’ll seemingly help him but, in truth, she’s leading him to his doom to wallow in Earthly affairs over that of his spiritual quest. The male magician must always be aware that whether they use the Abramelin system, or any magickal system, once they have taken their first step, as did Parsifal in quest of the Holy Graal, they will awaken a Demon from the depths of its lair to ensnare them. Crowley’s writings, and even those of his followers, are filled with warnings about the manifestation of the Kundry in the form of an actual woman. Crowley clearly informs every Neophyte who treads the path of Malkuth (i.e. Earth), and walks the way of Parsifal, that they must bathed themselves in pure Love in quest of the Holy Graal or they will be confronted by a strange woman who, when transformed in their eyes through Love, will lead them away from their spiritual quest and to their earthly doom. There are no exceptions. Magicians must always be aware of this possibility. Crowley states in Liber Aleph: “... for every Parsifal there is a Kundry. Thou mayst eat a thousand Fruits of the Garden; but there is one Tree whose name for thee is Poison. In every great Initiation is an Ordeal, wherein appeareth a Siren or Vampire appointed to destroy the Candidate.” As for the Tree, Crowley is referring to the Tree of Knowledge, which is bathed in the Angelic duality of Good and Evil. The world’s first great Kundry was Eve. She tempted Adam, which inevitably led to his fall from Eden. The entire story of the fall is a warning for the Abramelin system in a nutshell. Remember, Crowley has also mentioned this danger in his OTO Grade Paper titled De Nuptiis Secretis, Deorum cum Hominibus [Secret Marriages of the Gods with Men]. Here he writes, “to every Neophyte of the Order of AA appeareth a Demon in the form of a woman to pervert him; within Our own knowledge have not less than nine brethren been utterly cast out thereby.” And in his Confessions Crowley also noted, “I believe then, and believe now ... the Neophyte is nearly always tempted by a woman.” I can go on quoting other sources but I think you understand the warning. All in all, the Kundry, as a Demon, epitomizes the two major phases of the Moon, both full and new. In Aleister Crowley’s Ninth Degree teachings of the Ordo Templi Orientis he clearly informs us that in the woman’s phase as being full she receives the Light of a Sun and she glows like the Holy Graal in the last act of Parsifal after it has finally been uncovered. Then again, in her new moon phase of darkness she becomes overwhelming and all consuming. In this phase, a Demon takes control of the woman and possesses her, wherein she has no Light. 6:50am Yes, you are right, I loved the term NEA. We can both be in a crowded room and instead of talking at length about the antics of a friend we can simply smile and whisper, “NEA” and we’d both understand! 5:18am To answer your question, "No I don't put on-line every email that I reply to, maybe 1/10th and only the replies which I think others might learn from or enjoy. [admittedly I'm fishing]Thursday April 26th 2007 – 6:25am I received a question asking me “What are your views on the term Age of Aquarius? What does it mean?” – I replied: The greater problem with this subject lies in the understanding such terms as ‘New Aeon,’ ‘Aeonic progression’ or the ‘Age of Aquarius.’ ... What do we mean by the Age of Aquarius? Some will tell you that it simply implies that the Sun has moved into the sign of Aquarius but, of course, this is illogical. The Sun is not moving. To understand an Aeon you must realize that every year at the Vernal Equinox the Sun enters the sign of Aries and proceeds to move counter clockwise through the twelve signs of the Zodiac. In approximately 365 days the Sun will have moved through all twelve signs and this is called one solar year. Also at the Vernal Equinox, if you could observe the night sky directly behind the Sun you would realize that there is one constellation that appears to the right. If you lived longed enough, you could actually observe that due to our Earth's wobbling axis our Sun appears to be slowly moving clockwise into this particular sign of the Zodiac. This sign determines the Aeon. Presently, the sign off to the right of our Sun is that of Aquarius. Unlike a Solar year, this sign is fixed in this particular location for a longer extended period of time. Most scholars agree that this period is approximately 2,160 years. However, there is not one authority which agrees when the exact transition between the last Aeon of Pisces and that of the present one of Aquarius has actually occurred. We know that we are presently on the threshold of the New Aeon but whether the passing from one Aeon to another has already taken place, or is about to is, is the great debate. What is unique about an astrological transition into an Aeonic sign is that new forces come into play which subtly bathes our world on a subconscious if not astral level. Call them what you want but these changes affect everyone. No one is exempt. At the beginning of every Aeon from Taurus, Aries, to Pisces and now Aquarius, religions have emerged which have attempted to define these subtle spiritual changes in our planet’s etheric currents and their significance between mankind and the Gods. However, humanity as a whole is not interested in such matters uttered by prophets, priests and fools. Humanity usually accepts its fate blindly, if not animalistically and unconsciously, as it moves forward from one day to the next. Most individuals never question or become fully aware of the source behind the changes which are slowly affecting them and society. Sadly, Aeonic progression is probably the most controversial aspect of Astrology and it is often tainted by the religious proclivities of the researcher. After all, everyone believes that their religion is the true Aeonic faith. It is difficult for most to acknowledge the possibility that every religion might be true, but only in the sense that it receives the spiritual current of an Aeon differently depending upon its location, climate, language and culture, as well as through the spiritual growth of its prophet whom the current is using as a vehicle to manifest. Some religions reflect particular Aeonic currents greater than others and it is usually the purer vehicles which survive from one period far into the next.
5:00pm HEALTH UPDATE: I am presently doing well after my heart attack in October. I’ve had no major chest pains nor have I needed to take any Nitroglycerin in over a month; I’m walking better, my foot is no longer swollen but my left arm; especially my left hand, is still a tad bit cripple and arthritic. I did receive a letter from the ‘Department of Social Services’ letting me know that my application for Medi-Cal has been turned over to them. If I am approved I’ll be able to have the surgery on my heart. However, although they are suppose to respond within 90 days, their letter was letting me know that due to “unusual circumstances”, or the “high volume of new applications” they are all being handled “in the order that they are received” bla bla, adding that I will be contacted when they get to mine! What does that mean; a week, six months, two years? I’m glad it’s only my heart! Other than this, I’m sleeping a lot, taking naps at least once a day but if that is the worse, it’s OK. I send my thanks to everyone who has sent kind emails, cards and letters. They are much appreciated.1:36pm A friend just wrote me, “Thanks for Cornelia no.7, I’ve really taken pleasure in all of them so far” but are you “skirting the female issues” about how the ‘N’ formula actually works within the magickal formula of ON because “you’re not a woman and a man?” - OUCH! Answer: Yes and no. I have tried to discuss my views about the female half of the equation in the past but it was like sticking my hand down a lion’s throat. Experience has taught me that women [of course not yourself!] have a tendency to get very defensive when a man tries to explain to them what they might magickally be about ‘inside.’ But I can tell you this. My thought in understanding the Formula of ON is like Grady McMurtry’s; it is a two-fold nature relating to the Ruach, or Lover grade (AL I:40). The first half of the equation is male known as ABRAHADABRA [O] and relates to the left hand formula of 418 on the Tree of Life and the spheres Hod, Netzach and Tiphereth. What I don’t discuss in the Magickal Essence series [Cornelia No.7] is its connection with the ‘Lower Self’ as a vehicle in preparation of attaining the Higher Self which is the formula of BABALON [N] the right hand pillar; and those spheres of Tiphereth, Geburah and Chesed 156. The key to each lies within the spheres of Geburah and Netzach, Mars and Venus, male and female and the fact that both spheres naturally are within both sexes functioning differently; within the female 156 lies all Power (Geburah) while within the male 418 lies the feminine (Netzach). However, for me to say that ‘I know’ the female formula inside and out would be a grave misnomer or the babblings of an ego. In truth, I am learning as you are learning. There is so much to understand about these formulas on a multiple of levels and I feel so humbled by simply being an explorer on the Qabalistic Tree of Life who has just stepped off the boat onto the sands of a new world. . ... As a side note; did you know that on this date in 1956 the movie Godzilla, King of the Monsters, opened in theaters? I know its one of your favorites. It was originally called ‘Gojira’ in your native Japan. I love its plot, very simple; it had an American newspaper reporter, a lovely Japanese lady scientist, just like yourself, her brother and the entire Japanese army trying to stop a 40-story high, fire-breathing monster that was created by radiation exposure.7:22am I received this question: “Is there any truth to the fact that the handwritten edition of The Book of the Law doesn't say it was written on April 8, 9 & 10 but simply as April 1st.?” … Answer: No. This is a rumor that has been going around for years thanks to Bill Breeze’s edition of The Equinox of the Gods. (New Falcon 1991) In the original edition AC writes that “It must have been around the first of April that W. commanded P to enter the temple exactly at 12 o’clock noon on three successive days …” Bill Breeze decided that The Equinox of the Gods must be wrong [?] and he changed it to reflect “It must have been on the 7th of April.” (p.87) And on this note people have been spreading rumors for years that the ‘real date’ is being concealed and that realThe Book of the Law was an April Fool's joke. However, AC never said that the book was written on the 1st, he said that Rose told him around the first that he must enter the Temple which he did on the 8th 9th and 10th. See AC’s Confessions p. 395. He doesn’t give an actual date when Rose told him to enter the Temple. It merely happens somewhere between March 23rd and April 7th. Bill Breeze’s editions cause more problems then they are sometimes worth. He is notorious for changing AC’s words to reflect some ‘knowledge’ that he knows rather than footnoting what he believes. Monday April 23rd 2007 – I received this comment: “I received CORNELIA no.7 and like the previous issues I could not put it down. Fantastic! Keep up the good work. In ‘Questions & Answers’, question no.4 is this ‘possession’ story about Keith Shurholtz?” Answer: You know I don’t kiss and tell.
Saturday. April 21st 2007 - NEWS: Vatican City (April 21) – Pope Benedict XVI reversed centuries of traditional Roman Catholic teaching on the subject of limbo. In the past it was believed that if a child died before being Baptized it could not get into heaven because it was with the ‘original sin.’ Thus, came about the belief in ‘limbo’ which states that such children enjoy an eternal state of perfect natural happiness, but without being in communion with God. However, today’s decision states that limbo no longer ‘exists’ and children who die without being baptized are not excluded from Heaven. This reassessing traditional teaching on the subject came about in light of ‘pressing’ pastoral needs - primarily dealing with the growing number of abortions and infants born to non-believers who die without being baptized. Rev.Richard McBrien, professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, notes: “If there's no limbo and we're not going to revert to St. Augustine's teaching that unbaptized infants go to Hell, we're left with only one option, namely, that everyone is born in the state of grace” and thus “Baptism does not exist to wipe away the ‘stain’ of original sin, but to initiate one into the Church.” Without limbo, I guess there is no hope for me?

Wednesday April 18th – Just thought I might point out that on this date in 1955 Albert Einstein died quietly in his sleep at Princeton Hospital in New Jersey, after a long and brilliant career in which his name became synonymous with genius. Like Aleister Crowley, Einstein acknowledged the importance of combining scientific and religious methods. Where Crowley wrote the profound statement: “The method of Science, the Aim of Religion,” Einstein in 1934 offered this observation: “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”
Friday April 13th 2007 - I received this question: “Do you think Crowley’s brand of sex magic [sic] is legitimate considering his inclination toward promiscuity and bizarre rituals? It seems if you get involved with his OTO magic [sic] you have to sleep around but I love my boyfriend, he’s not into what I am and I don’t want to cheat on him.” I replied: Good question and one often raised amongst modern Thelemites. The problem with sex magick is due to a writer’s inclinations to create a correct ‘structure’ as to what moves the currents within a man and a woman but such structures are rarely accurate outside of revealing personal fears and proclivities. Crowley was as guilty of cornering the market on ‘truth’ as was the next guy but his sexual methods and behavior [like everyone’s] was simply something rooted deep in his Victorian childhood which made him tick. As scientists we must show what works for us and how it enabled us to achieve but never should we definitively say that our sexual method is something that everyone should follow. At best, we can teach our students by example, telling each to make sex magick personal by ‘exploring’ it. The end result is quite simple – ‘success is your only proof.’ On that note we must acknowledge that Crowley achieved far more than most magicians. If by having Leah urinate and defecate on his chest worked for him, who are we to say otherwise? However, don’t read about Crowley’s life and think that as a Thelemite you must follow in his footsteps. His sex magick is not YOUR sex magick. It is important to remember that everyone’s libido is different otherwise the world would be a very boring place. Our libido is often thought of as simply being the urge to copulate but in truth it is more so a creative energy driven by opposites, or duality pulling from above and below. Crowley knew this and he tried to incorporate its theories in his magick. Even quantum physics teaches us that we all project measurable frequencies [i.e. energy] or vibrations which continually seek a ‘similar’ opposite, or in simplest of terms; like attracts like. Carl Jung believed that this sexual energy is rooted in the ‘human psyche’ and when left unchecked it expresses itself through dreams and symbols; adding that if a person understood the unconscious images they could use such toward personal development. Magicians like Crowley agree but further believe that we should utilize our sexual libido to its fullest inclinations since its behavior is rooted in the foundation of our childhood. In other words, if we require specific lessons before puberty which unconsciously play an important role in our adult incarnation then we must not ignore or surpress our sexual inclinations because it holds the key to the manifestation of the ‘above’ within our self; the above being our genius. If we suppress our sexuality we in affect suppress our genius. All in all, as a Thelemite Crowley had the right to do his Will sexually as do you. Liber OZ clearly says that we have the right to love as we will – “when, where and with whom ye will!” (Liber AL I:51) but never once does it say you must sleep around as some Thelemites so vociferous try to tell new recruits. This attitude is simply a stance used by the less appealing in some Thelemic communities in order to get laid. In truth, whether you sleep around or stay with one sexual partner, whether you like whips and chains or the simple missionary posture - do what thou wilt.

April 12th 2007 – I watched the NEWS: It seems Kurt Vonnegut, whose dark comic talent along with his burning moral vision as portrayed in such novels as Slaughterhouse-Five, Cat’s Cradle and God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater which caught the imagination of a generation, myself included, died last night in Manhattan. He was 84. Damn, I loved Slaughterhouse-Five. ... “Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’ ” - God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (1965)
Wed. April 11th 2007 – Answer to a recent question: Ah, God names and who is who by any other name! Good question but for every attribute ‘thought’ below the Abyss there is a contradiction somewhere giving you another or opposite meaning equally true. You can spin your wheels trying to reconcile the Gods as if they will ever allow us to achieve such folly. All we can do is ask what is correct? And in theory, only the magician knows the truth that the answer is determined only by the Laws of their Star through self-reflection. What is right for one person many not be right for another. Your astrology sign dictates the propensity toward which gods you lean. As for your questions about IAO; this is a great Gnostic Mystery but it has lots of baggage lumped onto it throughout the ages. Before you get too sidetracked thinking about this formula let me give you some understanding of it. I believe Crowley’s Ninth Degree OTO grade papers clarify this formula the clearest but naturally it would be wrong of me to quote these to a lower degree initiate. But I can tell you this, since you are already an OTO Initiate, how many Officers has the Camp? Keep in mind that IAO details the Truth behind the ‘Holy Trinity’ and it is here where the Mysteries of this magickal formula unfold. Crowley teaches us in Liber Aleph that the trinity known as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost refers to ‘The Secret Seed’ or ‘substance’ (Father), the ‘Messenger’ of his WORD being the ‘instrument’ or phallus (the Son) and the ‘metaphysical ecstasy’ behind ‘utterance’ depicted by the Dove flying upward on the OTO Lamen. (The Holy Ghost) Or within OTO initiations this is symbolized by Saladin, Wazir and Emir who are representatives of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost. Think about this. Why wasn’t there a Wazir [the Father] in your Minerval initiation? We see only the Emir [Mother] along with Saladin. The Wazir appeared in your First Degree initiation. He was absent in the Minerval because he, being symbolic of phallus, was actually portrayed by the Tent. In other words, the entire initiation was taking place ‘within’ the phallus wherein you and Saladin sat. The Ninth Degree OTO formula of IAO is portrayed subtly in all OTO initiations to teach the candidates appropriate lessons ‘unconsciously’ in preparation for the teachings within the Hermetic Triad. Sadly, within the OTO today, it no longer teaches its students these phallic Mysteries in the lower degrees as it did in Grady’s days. It has become politically incorrect within modern OTO to point out that all of its initiations are symbolic ‘phallic’ teachings and that the Order has little if any female Mysteries to offer. Duality exists naturally below the Abyss in an irreconcilable fashion. They cannot merge. Attempting to bring unification to the brothers Horus & Set (Light & Darkness) or the merging of any opposites can only occur ‘above’ the Abyss and this is not reflective of where the formula IAO works. Sat. April 7th. 2007 - Today we celebrated the Feast of the Writing of The Book of the Law over at Ben's apartment. Over thirty people plus crammed into the apartment throughout the day; lots of great food, drink, conversation and music.
