Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. - AL I:40

Tuesday July 31st 2007 – 11:00am I was forwarded a comment made on another blog which stated: “I have become so confused on this issue that the terms HGA, Higher Self, and Genius have become little more than empty tokens which I don't even know the value of. I can't differentiate between any of them because I have no clear conception of what any of them means. Consulting works of referrence is a complete waste of time because none of them seem to agree.” .... If I had to address this poor soul's comment it would simply be that I completely agree. I would then add a quote from my “IN QUEST OF THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGEL” series where I wrote, “Unfortunately, no topic can be more arduous to write about than the origins and meaning behind the word Angel. Although originally a rather simplistic concept it has had hundreds of years of images pendant to it by every religious zealot and faith imaginable. What was originally an abstract theory debated amongst scholars and philosophers is now almost too convoluted to be appreciated.” ... I tried very hard to explain the evolving differences between the daimon, genius, angel and our higher self in the first five issues of CORNELIA under the following topics: Issue No.1 - THE DAIMON, BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL, Issue No.2 - THE AUGOEIDES AND THE ELEMENTAL, Issue No.3 -IS THIS TENUOUS SOMETHING AN OBJECTIVE OR SUBJECTIVE REALITY?, Issue No.4 – THE HIGHER SELF and finally Issue No.5 - THE ANGEL AND THE DEMON. ..... The bottom line is that you should be skeptical of anyone who tells you communication with your Angel occurs only when you reach upward into 'higher realms' of spirituality in Briah or into Tiphereth. They're confusing apples with oranges. They're trying to justify why the Higher Self, the Genius, Daimon and Angel should all be lumped into one entity. They obviously lack an understanding of the daimon (angel) and how if we accept its guidance we become possessed by extraordinary intellectual and creative powers, the source of which the Romans called the ‘genius’ which then works through our Higher Self. The crunching all these names into one is a modern belief. It is primarily spawned out of Theosophy and the Golden Dawn and sadly complicates the truth. It is not founded in original Angelic literature. Crowley even believed it for years or at least up until 1936. After this his writings clearly show that he began realizing that they were separate states and entities. Anyway, your Angel has been with you since birth, always has and always will be until the day you die. The secret is learning how they communicate! You don't need to go to Tiphereth or Briah to communicate any more than to the corner store.

6:45am I have added a new section onto my Cornelius93 website titled ‘The Tarot’ which are photographs of my twenty-two major trumps that I painted in oil on canvas 18x24. I apologize that they are not the clearest of photos and I regret the loss of some of the finer details and symbols. The camera flash caused some slight problems. Still, I think some of you might find the paintings amusing anyway.  Feed-back is always appreciate.

Monday July 30th 2007 – 4:20pm A student wrote, “At this point I should emphatically note that I am not an atheist nor am I wholly existential in my own Way, but I do not shun the language of such as it represents a valued cultural belief.”  I replied that if I thought he was an atheist I would not be wasting my time and energy on him. Adding, “I too believe strongly in the concepts of a Nietzsche’s view of existential thought but equally enjoy Wagner’s rebuttals. The truth is found half way between and in this Aeon, which is very young and struggling for an adolescent identity, I think we’ll be seeing self all important over all else and that is why children are screaming ‘God is dead’ but sooner or later they’ll come to realize it’s not the Gods who are dead but the worthless religions who have controlled us for centuries. It is from them whom we rebel and struggle. It’s time for each one of us, in a very Luciferian way, to stand proud and tall and regain what is properly ours with ties to no one but the Gods.”

4:15pm Another student wrote to me earlier today with an interesting email after reviewing past blogs on the Abyss and the Magister Templi. He writes, “So, MT's as babes of the abyss are the embodiment of Daath? Are the masters women as per the Oyster (Book of Lies) because they give birth to these children? This seesm to relate directly to something I read in a Francis King book on the Viii degree. The Viii creates new orders of being as well as servitors how are thes different or are they? Since the oath of MT had nothing to do with Viii explicitly in crowleys writng how it is that there seem s to be such an over lap? Fascinating. It amazes me when my magical brain kicks in  eventually I'm sure I'll want to know how I have one and why it works the  way it does. Certainly there is something unique about those of use who perceive that symbols are alive in some way.”  .....  I replied, “I don’t think it appropriate for me to comment on these topics with you too in-depth; especially OTO. They warrant answers above your degree but I can say this; what makes you think the MT & Viiith Degree are not identical but on different planes; horizontal and vertical? Both work out of Binah. Yes, your brain is a terrible thing to waste. It has always amazed me.”

4:00pm I briefly chatted with one of my students about the HGA. He gets it but I am always amazed by the confusion that other people have with this topic. It is obviously a dilemma but even more so when I read some modern instantaneous blogs of emails being thrown back and forth, which I might add I told my student that I see these blogs as “prattle without substance.”  Adding, “I like to think about what I’m saying and sit on it for awhile so I can reply with hard substance rather than offering diarrhea of the brain.” I further noted that some people see “Crowley’s thought as not so much something that is evolving throughout his life” but rather that he gave multiple answers in his writings to the same topics. I added, “I often get annoyed with people who quote early writings of Crowley as if the gospel and then dance to explain the contradictions in his later writings. No one is born ‘perfect’ and I think the brilliance of AC is that we’re able to see his growth and realize that our prophet is human. Anyway, the HGA issue is an extremely difficult topic, too many hands in the soup with thoughts taken from the dusty pages of books.” The idea that the K&C is achieved in Briah clearly shows Theosophical et Golden Dawn views which are clearly wrong. “This is the same problem I have with so many groups, they tow the traditional line regardless if it’s founded in an old Aeonic view of the world being flat.  Ah, it is I who babble now. I wish these people would read the series in CORNELIA on the HGA."

1:15pm Aisha called, she's off to Japan tomorrow morning for a year on a job related venture with some art project. I'll miss her smiles but she promises to keep in touch via emails.

Sunday July 29th 2007 – 12:50pm A dear friend from Sacramento sent me a link to his latest comic book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and think my readers will also. Of this comic Andy writes, "This is issue #1 of the Invader (Written & Created by Andrew West, Illustrated by Ian McEwan). One of the Last Venusians comes to Earth to remake it into a New Venus. He discovers that Pluto has beat him to the punch so it's the Invader and the legions of humans he tranforms with his technovegetable network virus into New (Aeonic) Venusians versus the Old (Aeonic) Plutonians for Global Dominance. Issue 1 sets things up slow with a crash landed alien tripping on Peyote in the desert and the revelation of the stage and first bad guys. Readers of Corelius' Daily Blog will appreciate appearances by Aiwass, Babalon,Therion, Aleister Crowley and the general theme of New Aeon vs Old in the language of Science Fiction." ... Go to:

11:45am Earlier today I replied to one of my students, " ... by your reply I feel you are asserting that your HGA is merely an aspect of yourself; especially when you wrote, “HGA, I, Self, Me, or My whatever there is no difference” ... and if so, you are 100% wrong. The HGA is an actual objective entity; do not confuse it with your Higher Self, or Genius. Too many magicians do this and then claim glorious achievements which become legends in their mind. I think, if you want to throw around terms like K&C etc & etc, we need to be on the same page as to what we mean; otherwise this is where confusion arises. I am also not going to debate the logic of whether or not Existentialism is correct or whether or not we as human beings create the meaning behind our own lives because I agree we do. But I am not so shallow as to believe that this is it, or that ‘I am it.’ It could be argued that “Existentialism is simply a person’s rational mind trying to justify their inability to see beyond self.” Thus god is dead and everything is ‘me.’ This behavior reeks of an Old Aeonic manifestation of Christianity’s Shadow. You ended your email by saying, “It seems that the main point of my original response, having been that verticality can occur for the atheistic, has been lost.”  To which I can only reply more pointed than a Taurus, “No” ... your argument is NOT true and that is the point that you miss. We all channel aspects of our entire Tree of Life downward on a daily basis otherwise we’d be dead and this is often a Qabalistic misnomer of climbing the Tree vertically because we’re experiencing inner things. Remember, the ‘Circle Squared’ in magick dictates accomplishment up & down the Tree. If you deny the Circle, or Godhead, then everything achieved is merely an intellectual exercise in ‘Because’ wherein a person argues endlessly to prove that the 'Square' is all important. Remember the formula of the ‘Circle Squared’ begins right on Malkuth with 1=10 (Kether/Malkuth) and “to deny one is, in truth, failure in both.” ..... So, can Atheist achieve vertically or the K&C?  Impossible.  They can claim all they want that they have achieved such things but to deny an objective God while claiming you’re talking to one of his Hosts (who is also objective) is plain ridiculous and merely ego simply trying to justify unwarranted assertions. Crowley is very adamant about that. And I think you missed that point which Zla282 was also trying to make."

11:20am And in another email I replied, "A supposed spiritual man who creates one Masonic fraternity and occult order after another under the pretense of advancing humanity obviously is focusing too much of their energy downward onto Malkuth; inevitably it will shut down all channels from above within their mind and their greatest gift soon becomes little more than argumentative babble within the pit of Because. A true Adept’s greatest gift are his 'Words’ and Nothing more."

10:45am I replied to comments received regarding the belief in Inner Schools and Colleges above the Abyss as professed within some groups: "First of all, the Inner School is not something like a Malkuthian Foundation in which you, or I or others can attend weekly meeting.  Let me ask you this, “If the approach in the lower degrees of AA is toward individual attainment devoid of group, how much greater the path of the Magister Templi, or Hermit?” It’s all in our mind. The Magister Templi simply embraces and channels the source of Gnosis; the Sun behind the Sun. Look at the Hermit card. Is there a group of people standing around? ... In regards to thing Abyss related: an annoying fact about some authors who write about Daath (i.e. Knowledge) is their portrayal of it as an evil doorway; which is purely a modern myth spawned out of feeble imaginations. Let me reiterate some of the fact about the Inner College on the Tree of Life: although Kether [1] is properly called the Crown ancient Qabalists tell us that it is the source of ‘Knowledge’ but not in a sense as mortals might interpret below the Abyss; it is pure archetype. Chockmah [2] or Wisdom is the Male seat known as the ‘Knower’ or he who extends (no penis jokes please) while Binah [3] Understanding is the Female and is she whom Qabalistically referred to as the ‘Known.” [i.e. the phrase ‘I knew’ that woman in a Biblical sense] ... When the Knower and Known unite a child is produced; this child is called Knowledge (Daath). He is birthed via the path of The Empress which unites the two spheres. She rules the Hebrew letter Daleth which means a door. The Child is a ‘Door.’ If the child is ‘birthed’ correctly it implies Gnosis (Knowledge) descends below the Abyss and the magician sees the “world below in a different Light” ... but it is important to always remember that because Daath (Knowledge or Gnosis) inevitably emerges below the Abyss it immediately becomes bathed in duality. This is why Daath [the child] can become a False Crown if the oath of the Abyss or the degree was taken for egotistically reasons and is unjustifiable. It no longer fulfills the Will of God but the desires of the individual. ..... Another important factor to always keep in your mind is that most people who talk about ‘Hidden or Inner Colleges’ usually have little or no understanding of the Qabalah. To stay above the Abyss mean death in reality because it is a realm of pure archetype which ‘fries the brain.’ White Light schools like to explain that ‘dying’ above the Abyss is a metaphor telling us the person changes once they enter the Inner College but the Qabalah is very clear about the Abyss; to reside above is impossible. In other words a true Magister Templi knows the Inner College is the ability within their mind to channel knowledge not readily found below simply because they ‘Know’ God; or as close as such can be while in our frail bodies. Basically; they took the Oath of the Abyss and were cast therein as a ‘Babe’ [i.e. child]. If successful they create the door within the Abyss [i.e. between their reality and beyond] wherein Understanding and Wisdom slowly unfolds downward through the Path of Gimel [i.e.'The Path of Imagination'] toward Tiphereth, the Seat of the Genius; which then manifests outward through their personality.

Friday July 27th 2007 - 6:35pm I wrote to a student regarding the Kundry: "You forget what an ‘excuse’ is - it’s not an actual verbal - “I’m sorry I didn’t do bla bla bla because ...” It’s simply one more thing that we choose to be involved with on Malkuth rather than fulfilling our magickal obligations. The greatest Kundry is an unconscious desire that we choose over Oaths. You went to _____________ and told me in emails that you would now have more time to do magick but did you? Or did the Universe throw one more thing at you as a distraction to see if it could tempt you : i.e. a girl.  Did it work?  A true magician, starting right from Malkuth, puts equal energy into the circle as does he the square; failure at one tips the scales.  Remember that always."

12:10pm Kathy from Alaska writes, “Mr.Cornelius I loved listening to you on Coast to Coast, your information was astounding. I would like to get the facts about Aleister Crowley. Have you written any books just on Aleister Crowley? Last night on Coast to coast Shaun David Morton said Barbara Bush MAYBE Aleister Crowley's daughter. Any truth to that? Any information will be greatly appreciated.I live here in the boonies of Alaska and its hard to get good information so ANY information you could possiably tell me would be greatly appreciated. Hope to hear you again on Coast to coast!!!!!” ..... I replied, “Alaska! Wow, all the way up in cold country! You are the first person to write me from that part of the US. I live down here in California. Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed the interview on Coast To Coast, it was my third on this radio show. I missed the segments after mine so all I can say is if Shaun David Morton said Barbara Bush MAYBE Aleister Crowley's daughter he was either making a pun or I’d seriously doubt his credibility as a scholar. The Bush/Crowley connection began on line years ago as a ‘Parody’ to attack George Bush by connecting him to evils of the Great Beast 666. ...  It’s really quite good, very funny but it is definitely not true.”

10:35am Mark Underwood writes, "I caught your show on coast to coast on Wednesday night. You handled yourself quite well -- I wish that a few callers could have gotten through that were versed in Thelema, not the ones that had the usual misconceptions of the 'demon Crowley'." ... I replied, "Glad you enjoyed the show; it was really fun to do. Yes, I agree; it would have been nice to have a few of the callers be more Thelemic or appreciative toward the old man (aka Crowley) but that’s OK; at least there were no idiots so I should be thankful."

9:50am In regards to my interview on Coast to Coast Jonie from Wisconsin writes, "Hi Jerry, It started out good, but after your segment someone made some remarks against Mr. Crowley. It would be good to see you and this guy debate in order to get at the truth." ... I replied, "Yes, it would be amusing to have a debate about Aleister Crowley but I fear it would only lead to senseless banter unless both individuals are scholars on the Crowley. It’s no secret that human nature always holds everyone accountable to the lowest possible standards. This is not to say that we should ignore the frailties or foolishness of Aleister Crowley. However, I feel that if I were in a serious debate about him my opponent would have a tendency to forget that no one is exempt from doing asinine things and he'd want to just level accusations on Crowley’s character for sensational reasons. Yes, we’re all human and if he wants to trash Crowley there is little doubt that Crowley did enough half-witted things throughout his life to fuel any good attack on his character but, on another level, he was brilliant. Unless my opponent was a scholar he’d most likely only cite Crowley’s foolishness, or those stories written by people who had a grudge against him and then people would miss the real picture regarding his life’s accomplishments. If you can see past Crowley's nonsense as the 'public jester' you’d realize that he was an inspiring individual who affected the destiny of the spiritual world. I guess it all depends upon which interpretation of someone’s life you wish to dwell upon and, in truth, such often reveals more about ones self than the person in question."

8:30am Kenneth Robinson, the old Brocken Mountain Lodge OTO Secretary from the early eighties while I was Lodge Master, sent this email. “Despite the best of intentions I didn't catch the Coast to Coast broadcast. The show starts at 1:00 am here and I needed to be up bright and early today. Sadly, I can no longer function off coffee and no sleep. Still your blog gave a bit of the flavor of the show. Sounds like fun. I loved the notion of "don't try this at home", leave it for the professional ouija boardist. Hilarious! Ah well, we're all gonna burn in Hell. It might as well be for something we enjoy.”... He is a dear friend. We use to sit around chatting for hours on magick, philosophy and the evils of the US government. I miss those days and admittedly, knowing what we both shared, we're truly going to burn in Hell. I reserve the right to bring marshmallows.

8:20am At the end of yesterday’s blog entry of 6:35am I jabbed at a crazed Christian who goes by the moniker of ‘Kookyloon’. I wrote:  “Obviously, there is a reason why your email address is ‘kookyloon.” ... They replied late last night in a short email this time, nine words and using the whit of an educated person [cough, cough] - “Gee, nice comeback, like I never heard that before.”  Yes, this one makes me chuckle; most Christians I simply ignore. This one gives me fodder to break up the monotony of a serious blog. Anyway, I fired back, “And you haven't taken the hint yet?” ... This person doesn’t realize a valuable lesson and it is something that all magicians should carefully consider. We know that if you constantly call a child stupid, or idiot or other derogatory comments that it inevitably has long lasting effect on them. The magickal motto is meant to begin a new ‘incarnation’ or step forward and instead of being a pawn at someone else giving you your name, as in the case of birth, you can now control your destiny. In all matters, especially even on the internet, choose your moniker carefully. For seeds planted in reality, must bloom within sooner or later. To call yourself ‘kookyloon’ is not my idea of a self-fulfilling spiritual reward.

7:40am Michael from London writes, “Don’t understand magick much. Most of what you write goes over my head. But I read the blog every day for the ‘History Buff’ section. Love it! Where are you getting all this info on a regular basis? “ ..... Answer: Good question. It all began some thirty plus years ago. I was looking at my desk calendar and reading the fine print at the bottom of one of those little dated square with a magnifying glass. I read the name of an actor and a politician. I yawned and was not impressed. I wondered about these people but I was not motivated enough to seek answers. I had other interests. I bathe in the fringes of society and walk in the shadows of dark alleys. I take great pleasure in subjects that are usually ignored as being the actions or babblings of crazy and delusional people. But it is in these people, their bizarre exploits and strange tales where I found my solace. In my drooling moods of salivation I have always had a passion to study religion, the weirder the better, as with researching Masonry, occult fraternities, Satanism and witchcraft. Oh the delight to read about people’s bizarre experiences with UFOs, or sightings of Bigfoot, of the Loch Ness Monster and the Chupacabra. I find fascination in the mind of the serial killer, amusement in the life of the physically deformed and laughter in the antics of some insane practical jokers. It’s these sorts of stories that constantly caused me to question my reality, to sharpen my wit and to realize how little I knew of the world around me. It was these sorts of stories that I started jotting down in a huge blank book. It has taken me years but little by little, with each new entry, a huge book grew and grew until one day I realized that I had created a monster [about six hundred pages, single spaced as of today]. I must confess, while gleefully admitting, that it has been nothing less than pure frivolity that drove me into producing it. Admittedly it is a never ending project and one that I will be working on until the day I die.
