Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. - AL I:40
Sunday November 30th 2008 – 8:35am It’s the end of the month and I’m going back through all my emails to see if any slipped through the cracks and I don’t believe, or at least I can’t find whether of not I answered Evelyn’s from Belgium from the 8th. She writes, “93 Dear Jerry, On Wednesday 5th November (4pm), you wrote an interesting entry about women designing their own Tarot. We have all seen more recent examples of Tarot decks designed by women (including "intuitive" decks). However, you are obviously not talking about redesigning or "redecorating" the existing models. So, would you be able to elaborate further on what sort of elements you would expect to see incorporated in a woman's Tarot. Perhaps you could select just a few examples from the Major Arcana? Your entries about approaching the tree of life from opposite directions for the sexes have also been interesting. Evelyn.” .......... Reply: We all contain within ourselves a ‘personal myth’ which continually struggles to emerge into our reality. To understand the myth we must examine the symbol known as the Otz Chim or the Tree of Life and how, by eating its fruit, we can obtain Hidden Knowledge or Gnosis of the Universe and, more importantly, ourselves. The question is whether or not the ‘paths’ are seen in the same light by everyone? Consider this; on the most mundane level if we get twelve people to walk down a street and then write about their experience you’ll always get twelve totally different stories. However, the ‘basic’ imagery should remain the same; just interpreted differently and where one person sees something on the street that matters to them it may not be mentioned at all by another person simply because it did not resonate with their soul. Which stories are real? Are they not all true? ... The same certainty is found in the 22 paths connecting the Sephiroth (or Chakras) since no two people will ever see their ‘myth’ in the same Light. To be able to channel the myth into a personal design without too much conscious interference would be one of the greatest ‘maps’ to our Soul that we could obtain. Grady McMurtry believed that his poetry regarding the Tree unfolded his own Universe [Click HERE for details] and I agree. My own Tarot design unfolds my Soul to me and to this day I'm still finding Truths in the imagery. ... Another friend, Dave in Florida, who is painting a Leo force right now asked me for advice as to certain images that he wanted to use in the card. I replied, “You asked advice upon certain ‘images’ that you should use in your painting. All I can say is that it all depends upon the type of picture that you want to create ... if its merely a pretty picture to show off then ask advice from others ... but if you are painting something from the depths of your soul which shall reveal its secrets to you on an archetypal level for years to come then ask no one, seek the answers from within and let the whispers of your daimon guide you ... art, like poetry, is the "geyser of the unconscious" ... until you learn its secrets as to how to channel this energy you should try to keep your magickally manifested art a non-group effort." .... He replied quite brilliantly - "Ah you are right! I am sometimes a chicken that the things I am doing will be inaccurate..but I am falling prey to the sin of because. ... 'If Will stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nought.' II:30 ... I will do!" ..... Anyway, in regards to Evelyn's comments; most Tarot designed and books, even if they have been written or designed by woman, are still mimicking the essential archetypal views of a man's approach on the Tree. In other words; woman learn the Tree as men have seen it, which they must do in order to appreciate a Foundation but sooner or later they must also examine their 'own' myth on the Tree and I believe, when this is rightful achieved, a real female Tarot will emerge. ... Finally, always remember; both men and women approach and use the Tree differently but what they tap into is EXACTLY THE SAME THING THAT IS FOUND ON THE TREE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX. So, what a woman is going to design is not something 'totally different' from a man's view but merely their own personal view of the same street that she and the man walk down.
6:45am For the history buffs: Urbain Grandier, the parish priest of St.-Pierre-du-Marché of Loudun in France, was accused of witchcraft and arrested and thrown into prison on this date in 1633. ............ on November 30, 1900 the illustrious and noble Oscar Wilde, Irish dramatist, novelist, & poet, died of cerebral meningitis. His last words, as he lay dying in a drab Paris bedroom, were: “Either that wallpaper goes, or I do.” ............... and Oberon Zell-Ravenheart (aka Timothy Zell) was born on this date in St. Louis, Missouri in 1942. He wrote the Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard. He was also the co-founder of the Church of All Worlds in 1962. He has published Green Egg magazine since 1968. In 1970, Oberon formulated and published the theology of deep ecology which has become known scientifically as The Gaia Thesis. He also co-founded the Ecosophical Research Association. He is married to Morning Glory and they both are part of the expanded family called the Ravenhearts, all living together in Sonoma County, California. ............... and on November 30, 1951 Christian Bernard was born in France. He would later join the Rosicrucian order of AMORC; become its Grand Secretary in France and finally Imperator on April 12, 1990.
Saturday November 29th 2008 – 1:15pm I just finished adding a review of THE EYE 2 (2004) into my MOVIE section. It was produced by The Pang Brothers of Hong Kong. I liked this plot better than the first or THE EYE (2002). Although an implied sequel the plot has absolutely nothing to do with the first. In some ways the first movie was scarier as it dealt with a blind girl who gets a corneal transplant from a donor who is psychic and she starts seeing ghosts. The second movie details ‘another’ method of ‘seeing’ ghost which is for a pregnant woman to attempt suicide. The plot is simple: after several failed suicide attempts pregnant Joey (Shu Qi) teeters on the brink of madness as she becomes the unwilling recipient of an influx of eerie shadowy figures that float like they're swimming in water. They haunt her pervasively. In an attempt to quell this disturbing phenomenon, she seeks to identify the main female ghost who continual plagues her, only to be led to the front door of her secretive ex-lover Sam; the father of her unborn child. Digging into his past, Joey sheds light upon the mysterious twilight world descending upon her. As a magician, I was drawn to the second movie but wondered how many viewers actually realized that it is, in some ways, a modern depiction of a Buddhist view from The Tibetan Book of the Dead? In this book, in the third stage known as Sid-Pa Bardo, the soul observes potential future parents and it is counseled to choose a ‘womb’ in which to incarnate and in THE EYE 2 it clearly shows a ‘soul’ entering the vaginal area at birth in order to enter into the unborn child. But why does the 'soul' want to enter into the Joey's baby? ... Ah, we learn about ‘karma’ in this movie and why, in some cases, the 'River of Forgetfulness' is so important. ... To me, as a magician, this is a must see movie.
6:40am For the history buffs: the sweet Louisa May Alcott was born on this date in Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1832. She is considered historically as being one of the first great American writers of ‘juvenile’ books and short stories. Oddly, in many of her earlier writings she wrote using a pseudonym and most of these stories feature a mysterious, vengeful woman bent on manipulation and destruction; stories bathed in ghosts, opium eaters, and mercenaries. These melodramatic stories were extremely popular and provided Alcott with a steady income as she worked on lengthier pieces, like Little Woman, but few people in this day and age realize the extent that she wrote about and advocated the use of ‘hashish.’ One of her classic stories titled Perilous Play (1869) is about a group of young people who find themselves bored and seeking entertainment. A young doctor in their midst obliges their lust for something different by introducing them to hashish. However, one boy and girl refuses to try the drug but it is later learned, that they did so secretly. In the end, the drug helps them confess their ‘love for each other.’ All in all, the article is a classic boy gets girl story; clearly implying that if a shy young person wants to win their true love they definitely ought to try hashish! As one point in the story, when they are discussing the drug, Alcott writes, “About three hours after you take your dose, though the time varies with different people. Your pulse will rise, heart beat quickly, eyes darken and dilate, and an uplifted sensation will pervade you generally. Then these symptoms change, and the bliss begins. I’ve seen people sit or lie in one position for hours, rapt in a delicious dream, and wake from it as tranquil as if they had not a nerve in their bodies.” Alcott died on March 6, 1888 in Boston, Massachusetts. ................... and on November 20, 1910 the Rite of Luna was performed at Caxton Hall by Aleister Crowley who would later state, regarding this particular ritual, that “... the historic incompetence of the officers was mercifully concealed from (the audience) by the gloom.” ............. and it was on November 29, 1925 that the German Edda Society was founded by Rudolf Gorsleben, as an ‘Aryan’ study group, at Dinkelsbühl, in Franconia. Grand Master of the group was Werner von Bülow, its Treasurer Friedrich Schaefer from Mühlhausen, whose wife, Käthe, kept open house for other occult groups which had gathered themselves around Karl Maria Wiligut in the early 1930s. Rudolf Gorsleben was Chancellor of the Edda Society and published its periodical German Freedom, later Aryan Freedom. ............ and the UFO expert and noted author, Donald E. Keyhoe died on this date in 1989 at the age of 91. He was born on June 20, 1897. He was Director of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) in Washington, D.C.
Friday November 28th 2008 – 5:30am For the history buffs: William Blake was born on this date in London in 1757. He was a romantic poet and mystic Christian artist. The majority of his works, of both words and pictures, he engraved on copper plates, which was a method he claimed to have received in a dream. However, unlike most artists, Blake worked always on a tiny scale; most of his engravings are little more than inches in height, yet the detail that is rendered is magnificent and unbelievably exact. Some of the series of copperplate engravings, for which he is most noted are to Milton, of Jerusalem and The Book of Job. William Blake died on August 12, 1827, and is buried in an unmarked grave at Bunhill Fields, London. ............. and it was on November 28, 1911 that Aleister Crowley and Soror Virakam had their second ‘interview’ with Ab-ul-Diz, which had begun earlier in the month. .
Thursday November 27, 2008 – 10:15am My dear friend Ricardo Flores writes, "Jerry, 93! What an informative picture of the importance of this holiday in Thelemic history. I have never celebrated this holiday, but you have given me a compelling argument for it. I'll reconsider. Now, the question is thigh, leg, breast... hmm...??? May you live this day to the max, my dear friend. Ricardo." ...... Reply: Personally, I like a slightly roasted and buttered coochi snoorcher, with a sprig of parsley along with a side order of mash potatoes. Any good recipes out there? ... Have any of you ever read that classic children's book - The little Coochi Snoorcher who could?"
9:00am Ken Robinson, my old Brocken Mountain Lodge Secretary from the early 1980s saw the picture below and writes, "Yum! Sure beats what I'm having for Thanksgiving."
7:10am Rey Delupos writes, "Thanks for the image, Jerry...now I know what my alternate will be for next Thanksgiving! It sure beats Tofurky! [ha] BTW, what do you think the Beast used for stuffing?! I also note that this is a particularly important holiday for you and your lineage as a Cornelius! I hope that your celebration will be complete with a piece of thigh or at least a leg. Or are you a breast man? [grin]." ..... Reply: Yes, I'm of an oldly New England family [see yesterday's 8:45am posting] and as a kid, turkey was a staple along with tons of other things. Personally, I think that I too know what I'd like to try to put on my table next Thanksgiving and I'll personally stuff it! But for today, its a frozen spaghetti dinner in front of a TV washed down with a few beers.
6:10am I received this gem, which brought a smile and brightened my morning - "93 Jerry, I have been reading your Blog since the beginning and enjoy it greatly. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving! Attached is my latest creation. Enjoy, and if you feel the need, pass it on! With Love and Laughter, Frater DD. 93 93/93" ..... & this is what he sent:
6:05am Thank you Luna for all the "I'm not only a customer...I am a MEMBER! (ov the Pestilence Society)" emails. I was in stitches. I especially liked it when you wrote: "This just in! Pestilence Society is now being celebrity endorsed by Harry Smith! Harry Smith sez: "Slug some suds and Drink Canadian."" which was followed by "93! News Flash! and yet another celebrity endorsement for The Pestilence Society from none other than: Derrida Derrida sez: "I don't know where I am, but I LIKE IT!"" ...... I then received an anonymous email simply saying - "WCCPS, sounds divine!" and it was signed Harris Glenn Milstead.
6:00am I would like to send a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY out to Mick Roche, my favorite Sagittarius. Wait a minute, come to think of it, he's the only Sagittarius that comes around?
5:45am For the history buffs: Françoise d’ Aubigné, marquise de Maintenon, the second wife of Louis XIV, was born on this date in a prison at Niort in 1635. As an aduly she had an unbelievable thirst for magic and Satanism which she saw as a means of obtaining youth and beauty. She died on April 15, 1719. ....... also, the author Lyon Sprague de Camp was born on this date in New York in 1907 . He is the author of well over 120 science fiction and fantasy books, several hundred short stories, and is also well-known for many non-fiction works in history, science, and biography with such works as Lost Continents: The Atlantis Theme in History, Science, and Literature (1970) and H. P. Lovecraft, A Biography (1975). He died on November 6, 2000.
Wednesday November 26th 2008 - 1:00pm Luna and Leigh received their Membership in THE WEST COAST CENTRE OF PESTILENCE SOCIEYY today and Luna writes, "Jerry 93! Thank you! Our wonderful Pestilence Diplomas just got here! I had not read anything about this yet...so it was a special treat to receive the secret documents! also, I am going to frame and hang the Liber OZ today! I have much greater respect for the document this week...seeing that the mere mention of it on a silly email thread that I sent out on the topic of Liber OZ last week blew my pesky kundrysite out of the bushes! I do believe in the power of Liber OZ, I do, I do! much love and AHA! 93s )O(." and Blaack Draakkan sez: "Thank you!, and Spread the Pestilence!" ...... Reply: You’ve made my day, may Pestilence Crown your work; may you annoy all seats of authority which restrict your Freedom and may you both - do what thou wilt! That is the Law!
9:20am For our students, re: Magickal Motto, Ben Hance gives these sources: Magick Without Tears, letters E, F; Book 4, sec. II, cap. 6 (Liber ABA, p. 62); The Mystical and Magickal System of the A.'. A.'., p. 61.
8:45am Ah, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, another turkey day. I know it doesn’t mean that much to people anymore, except being a legal day off but as for me, I am a direct descended from Aaron Cornelius whom according to historical records arrived in the new world about fifteen years after the Mayflower had landed on the rocky shores in December of 1620 in a territory that was inhabited by the Wampanoag Indians near Plymouth Rock. The following year is when the Indians and Pilgrims had the ‘first’ Thanksgiving. Being the 11th generation of an old New England family I can only tell you that Thanksgiving out here in California, compared to growing up in New England ... is celebrated very differently.
5:40am Here is a favorite quote of mine found in a letter to Grady Louis McMurtry from Aleister Crowley dated November 26th 1946 - “The Difference between myself and the Pope is that his definition of the word Sin is different than mine.”
5:30am For the history buffs: Astarte Lulu Panthea was born to Ninette Shumway on this date in 1920 at 2:00am in Palermo, Sicily. She died in 1928. .......... and it was on November 26, 1922 that Raoul Loveday and his wife Betty May arrived at the Abbey of Thelema on Cefalu date. She would later bitterly leave after Raoul died at the Abbey. He was buried in an unhallowed grave just outside the walls of the Catholic cemetery.
Tuesday November 25th 2008 – 9:45am Luna sent me some great questions about the Kundry, in particular -"My question of you is ... more on kundry, for there is little on the web that I can find....and if the critter is a kundry, and I can learn more about what they are, I can probably figure out how to keep it away." ... I replied, "Luna 93 Yes, we all attract Kundry’s from time to time. The best way to get rid of them is simply consciously being aware of their activities and how they affect you and then not allow it. If the other person is a Kundry, and has left, praise the Gods. How literature sees the Kundry and the magician, are very different. Go to my blog; look to the far right where there is an index of past entries and read in particular these dates: Friday April 27th 2007 - 9:00am, 10:25am, Saturday May 12, 2007 – 2:00am, Monday May 14th 2007 - 7:00am, Tuesday May 15th 2007 - 6:20am, Tuesday June 5, 2007 – 11:00am ... Hope this gives you some info ... Let me know what you think ... Much love 93 93/93 Jerry." ....... and now Luna, searching the blog archives, came across an entry dated Friday June 15, 2007 where I wrote: "2:00pm In regards to Mike's question about my Friday night 'Cirkle' gatherings: yes, the 'Law of the Strong' (Liber AL vel Legis II:21) is, as you have been told, printed out and put on my refrigerator in order to remind me daily of how to Thelemically live. The Law goes as follows: A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo, and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular culling of the weakest members. In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills off brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, or so I firmly believe, regular consumption of beer every Friday night at my apartment will eliminate the weaker brain cells, constantly making my brain a faster and more efficient machine." ... Luna, reading the above, adds: "J 93! With my eyebrows knitted and my intent severe...I continued my kundry hunt...went to check out the June 5th post...but first stopped to read this one......I'm laughing out loud now.....I needed this thanks! 93s )O(." ..... I replied, "Yes, there are lots of old gems in the archives :)- and I'm glad you reminded me of this one ... it reinforces why we must drink so much on Friday nights or as the Coneheads might say - "Consume mass quantities of beer, or its back to Remulac with you!"
7:25am This is to announce Weiser Antiquarian Books Catalog Forty-Eight; with books by and about Andrew Chumbley (1967-2004), and his friend and current Magister of the Cultus Sabbati, and "Verdelet of the Tradition," Daniel Schulke; along with books by Kenneth Grant and the Typhonian O.T.O. ... Click HERE if you'd like to review this latest catalogue.
5:45am For the history buffs: Reuben Swinburne Clymer was born on this date in 1878. He would later be the co-founder of FUDOFSI, which later recognized the Fraternitas as the authentic Fraternitas Rosae Crucis (FRC), or Rosicrucians, in Quakertown, PA in 1912. He viciously fought most his life against AMORC which he saw as a bogus and fraudulent Order. He published several volumes pointing out AMORC’s connections to the evils of Aleister Crowley and the Ordo Templi Orientis. He died on June 3, 1966. ............. and as if irony was smiling, Herbert Spencer Lewis the founder of AMORC was born on the same date in 1883 as Reuben Swinburne Clymer, but in Frenchtown, New Jersey. ............ and on November 25, 1909 Aleister Crowley assumed the Oath of Dominus Liminis in the AA. The initiatory ‘area’ on the Qabalistic Tree of Life which is symbolically attributed to this grade is found between Netzach (7) and Tiphereth (6). It is called a ‘Portal Degree’ which is the bridge used for leaving the First Order and entering into the Second. ............. and how can I not mention that on this date in 1994 it was announced by church leaders that David Berg had died at the age of 75 - “a few days ago.” The church has never given an exact time or place of his death, or what exactly caused his death; although rumors persist that it was allegedly due to a sexually transmitted disease which ravished his body and had kept him in hiding for years. Berg was originally born in 1919 in Oakland, California. The mid 1960's produced many counter-culture movements in this state. It was a time when the youth of America was questioning the ‘establishment.’ Out of this hippie flower child era came a loosely connected group collectively known as the Jesus People. In Huntington Beach, in 1968, Berg solidified this movement into a church known as The Children of God. He proclaimed himself to be God's end of time prophet and he drew from the Bible in order to prove that the Old Testament spoke directly to him and that he was to play a major role in the Second Coming, the long anticipated return to earth of Jesus Christ. He adopted various names including ‘Moses David,’ ‘Mo,’ ‘Father David,’ and simply ‘Dad.’ It is no secret that Berg exploited everyone sexually, both males and females and he even sent his followers out to become quite literally “hookers for Christ.”
Monday November 24th 2008 – 4:10pm Dave from Florida writes, "Hey Jerry, 93! I understand you need iron. I would ponder does the consumption of the conjugal fluids with the menstrual cycle count? That is test of constitution for sure, in light of that I would suggest eating your meat more on the rare side? That would be my choice. In lieu of that.. how about getting a decent supplement diet in the form of smoothies? You could put vodka in them and convince yourself they are cocktails. I think we need to make a new drink just for you, like a bloody Mary but we will call it Our Lady Babalon. :) Lets start a survey on the Blog as to its contents! all the best my friend live long and prosper. You are a star I navigate by.. don't super-nova on me yet!!!!!!!!!! 93 93/93 David." ....... Reply: You are too kind but you damn Leaping Laughter boys are really out to torture me, aren't you?
3:30pm Jerri from Sacramento read my earlier posting today about my doctor's appointment and writes, "93 Jer, Well, although THAT wasn't the news I was hoping for, it's still not so bad. The limbo part is certainly torture, but we still have hope. That is good. Very good. But...perhaps you can explain to me why you insist on such fixity, Mr. Cardinal?! The mutable side is where it's AT (said the Pisces :-))!!! Why won't you simply TRY some freaking vegetables?! Prepared properly, they are very good...and holy crap, they might actually provide your body with some much needed IRON! ... Greasy eggs and bacon-even after your Dr appointment (I am shaking my head right now)??!!! JERRRRYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you feel them? Those astral slaps all about the face...Wait. My arms are getting tired...and this rant is getting me nowhere now is it? Yeah, I know...women. 93 93/93 Grrr, Jerri." and then she adds "You know I love you, I hope. Just teasing...better you mad than sad, I suppose!!!" ....... Reply: No, not eating healthy has nothing to do with me being a Cardinal sign; I'm just lazy. I am such a workaholic that I usual eat when my stomach growls and rarely do I have good food in my apartment. Its easier to just run next door to the Korean restaurant so I can get a barbecued pork & rice dinner and then get back to work. As far as eating 'greasy' breakfast ... it was Ben's fault .... ok, it wasn't really, he did try to talk me into a salad but I wanted no part of it. ... As far as the astral slaps, you missed my face, got the other end. :) ... Anyways, I am eating green twice a day now; its because the new pills the doctor gave me to take are 'green.' Does that count?
3:18pm Luna writes, "93! Thank you for keeping us updated. SOUP!...lots of wonderful soup...with lots of greens in it! There has to be a place in your neighborhood that has wonderful green and goodness rich thick winter soups! I am sending you lots of good love and energy. I am going to do some candle magick aimed at you. I will not hit you personally with the energy, but will send the energy to right outside the entrance into your apartment...and if you want to pull it in and use it you can. I learned the technique from Geri De Stephano, Chandria, and Rosie of the River, when I apprenticed with them in the 1970s. We were able to perfect a way to send healing charged energy to loved ones without actually zapping them... and with experimentation, in two locations, we got how to do it. So, unless you tell me another location, I am going to send it to right outside your livingroom door...up at the ceiling there. I will now go and fix the candles on my altar...and I will take some photos of it and email them to you soon (today)....the way that I always do. If there is anything that Leigh or I can do to help in any manner, over the next few months, no matter what it is...do not hesitate to ask. Between the holiday season, and your battery of tests and hoops to jump through, during this process...you must be rattled! WE LOVE YOU JERRY...You and The Friends of Grady are a delight to know...you bring Leigh and I much inspiration and familial living culture. We will get through this phase together....and it ain't over yet! We have a long time left.... ...so.....let's stop and take the time to energize the mojo and keep the flow going! ..ok...off to start the working. LOVE LOVE LOVE 93s )O(." ........ Reply: Thanks, I can use all the help I can get!
3:15pm Benjamin writes, "Eat a steak and spinach salad - dammit! It's for the good of the Order." ....... Reply: Want to go for breakfast again?
3:10pm Jay writes, "93 Jerry, Sorry to hear about the lingering uncertainty on your health. I'm sure it's got to be stressful. Glad to see the sense of humor though, it will help keep you sane. Just let me know if Ben and I need to swing by with some leaping laughter to help you out. As for the diet, I think you can have the greens and keep the artery hardeners too. Just a thought... Love, Jay 93 93/93."
12:30pm We’ll folks, just got back from the doctor’s office and after all the blood tests & etc that I had to do last month, I am still in limbo as to whether or not I might have cancer. Anyway, I have more Highland Hospital tests being scheduled for next month which means the saga is stretched out for me to ponder and worry about for awhile longer. Those test results that have come back show that I have developed severe anemia. As of today, my doctor has me taking more pills every morning and even at night too and he wants me to eat lots of ‘green’ things. But I laughed and told him the only green thing that I put in my gut is the green beer around St. Patrick’s Day – he was not amused. I may actually be forced to eat healthy for awhile and on that note; Ben & I discussed it over greasy eggs, bacon, toast and other artery hardeners. ... Damn, between my heart kicking out, high blood pressure, gout, now anemia and possibly cancer, 2008 is going to be the year that Jerry's body just said "No." ... It's a good thing I'm a Crab with a sense of humor!
6:00am For the history buffs: Aleister Crowley took the Oath of a Philosophus, 4=7, in the AA on this date in 1905. The initiatory sphere on the Qabalistic Tree of Life symbolically attributed to this grade is that of Netzach, the seventh sphere of Venus. Like his last degree, he kept the magical motto of Frater OY MH. ........ and on this date in 1909 Aleister Crowley divorced his first wife, Rose Kelly. He wrote, “...my domestic tragedy was coming to a crisis.” ........ and how can I not mention that Forrest J. Ackerman was born on this date in 1916. He is the founder the classic publication Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine and he helped establish the Los Angeles Science Fiction Society back in thirties. In the beginning, when ‘scientifiction’ evolved to the phrase of Science Fiction, Ackerman when a step further and coined the now infamous term “sci-fi.”
Sunday November 23rd 2008 – 8:05am The author Chuck Furnace, a member and dear friend from the old Brocken Mountain Lodge OTO in Connecticut, just sent me this email - "Hi fellow travelers, Just to mention that my Introduction to the Middle Pillar site has moved to www.chuckfurnace.com and my blog (for Spiritual, not daily stuff) is functioning at http://blog.chuckfurnace.com/ ... I hope that now that I can add to my blog with new essays, I won't take the chance of trashing the instructional text, audio, photos and structure of the whole site, which was happening. ... My appreciation to Jane for guiding me through the tech of setting things up, and pointing out that I was spending creative energies in wrestling the computer tech that could be better spent on my Spiritual WORK. ... I expect to update the blog regularly, and hope you enjoy it. LOVE, LIGHT and Laughter, FURNACE chuck 2.0." ........ Reply: My readers should bookmark this site. It's great! Lots of info.
6:45am To remind my readers, we have been up-loading a lengthy series of talks which Frater Hymenaeus Alpha 777 (Grady Louis McMurtry) did here in Berkeley on magick and philosophy. These were later transcribed and published. The series is titled FROM THE CALIPH. The first installment appeared in The Magickal Link, Volume 1 No.10 Oct. 1981e.v.. I wish to thank Frater Orpheus for making this page and the other pages possible in this series. In regards to this series I wrote to Frater Orpheus. "This is a great series, I had forgotten just how much magick and 'Grady' kinda philosophy is in it ... our readers are really enjoying it." ... Frater Orpheus replied, "To be honest his writing style confused me for years, the way he sort of rambles out ideas, but in rereading and reading for the first time so much of this material I am very much enjoying the depths of Grady's own brand of crazy. I see much of what he said in a different light and yes all those references he just throws in are very much worth looking up....brilliant stuff to say the least!!!!!!" ... The latest installment in the series is No.6 from The Magickal Link, Vol. 1I, No.3 March 1982e.v. and is Part II of PROGRAM, PRE-PROGRAM, REPROGRAM ... Click HERE and enjoy.
5:30am For the history buffs: Boris Karloff was born on this date as William Henry Pratt in London, England in 1887. He starred in over a hundred and seventy movies but is most likely remembered for being in Frankenstein (1931). Of all his movies, from an Aleister Crowleyean point-of-view, The Black Cat (1934) carries the most significance. The plots centers around two newlyweds Joan and Peter Allison who meet Dr Vitus Verdegast (Bela Lugosi). On the way to the hotel, their bus crashes and Joan is injured. They take refuge in a house belonging to Hjalmar Poelzig (Boris Karloff), a character loosely based on Crowley. Needless to say, the twisted Satanic ritual which follows is rather amusing. However, although the title is ‘suggestive’ of an the Edgar Allan Poe story, in reality has nothing to do with Poe’s original story. A black cat does make a few brief appearances throughout the movie, seemingly to justify the title, but its only memoriable scene is when Bela Lugosi throws a knife at it. Sadly, Boris Karloff died on February 2, 1969 after battling emphysema for a number of years, he was 81. .......... and on November 23, 1905 Aleister Crowley assumed the Grade of Practicus, 3=8, in the AA. The initiatory sphere on the Qabalistic Tree of Life symbolically attributed to this grade is that of Hod, the eighth sphere of Mercury. .......... also, Aleister Crowley, along with Victor Neuburg, evoked the twenty-eighth Enochian Aethyr known as BAB on this date in 1909 between 8:00-9:00pm at the village of Aumale in the Algerian desert. There are a total of Thirty Aethyrs according to the magickal structure laid out by John Dee. Crowley had previously evoked the twenty-ninth and Thirtieth Aethyrs in Mexico. To look into these invisible realms, known as Aethyrs, one often uses a crystal and once one has obtained the ‘vision’ the angels will appear and communicate messages by pointing to one letter at a time on huge boards of letters. After Crowley finished going through all Thirty Aethyrs he titled his findings The Vision & The Voice. .......... and finally, it was on November 23, 1963 that Raymond Buckland was initiated into Wicca by Gerald Gardner’s High Priestess Lady Olwen.
Saturday November 22nd 2008 – 8:00am In reply to November 17th 10:20 am posting, Luna writes, "Jerry and Jerri 93! My 39 orgasms happened back in 1987. I was living with Anita Valerio, now known as Max Wolf Valerio (one of America's best known Female to Male Transgendered Men...read his book "The Testosterone Files"), Max was my roomate, and is still a close friend, and a fellow agent provocateur. One night we collided in the kitchen in our flat on Bartlett Street, in S.F.. On the fridge was posted a torn out page from a porno mag...with Long John Silver that one of my slaves had given to me...this is the same slave that liked bees (see the chapter in Max's book titled "Great Balls of Fire"). Max and I were giggling over the photo spread of Long John Silver (I think that that is his name...it is close....anyway, he is a "freak", or the photos were mocked...but this was back in the stone age of the punk era)...somehow...the two of us...muching away at the scraps in the fridge. (We were punks and there was not much to munch on)...we started talking about orgasms, the conversation brought on by who knows what...(those were the days!!!!)...and Max said: "I don't know what the big deal is, I experimented the other night and had lots of them [my memory of this tells me that Max (then Anita) told me that s/he had something like 30 + orgasms.). I don't remember what my reply to her/him was, but, the first chance I got, I took the challenge...and I got to about 39 orgasms, and then fell asleep. 93s )O( ." .............. Reply: I read The Testosterone Files, enjoyed it alot.
7:40am Last night's OPEN HOUSE was a great success for a bunch of reasons; first - I haven't had a hang-over like this in a long time. Second - I woke up in bed with my clothes still on but one shoe off and third, and most important, we initiated a bunch of new members into THE WEST COAST CENTRE OF PESTILENCE SOCIEYY. ... For all those whom we recently promised to make Members of the WCCSP but haven’t, let me simply say that the reason for the delay has been the fact that the original ‘master’ disk with all the certificate and other information became misplaced in my rather cluttered [but neat Cancerian] apartment. But, after giving up looking, I came across the disk just last week. I took this as an omen that the time has come for pestilence once again to be spread like watery grape jelly on burnt toast. ...... ok, enough said, back to my ice pack.
7:30am For the history buffs: Aleister Crowley assumed the Oath of a Zelator, 2=9, on this date in the AA in 1905. He took the magical motto of Frater OY MH. Most initiatory systems within magickal fraternities like the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Ordo Templi Orientis, or even Aleister Crowley’s AA, deal with spiritual self-transformation on the Qabalistic Tree of Life and titles like ‘Zelator’ are symbolically attributed to one of the ten sphere on this glyph. In this case, a Zelator works out of Yesod, the ninth Sphere of the Moon. Its purpose is to establish a suitable Foundation. ........... and Aldous Huxley, the man whom Aleister Crowley turned onto peyote, died on this date in 1963. There is story worth mentioning. In 1930, at the Porzo Galleries in Berlin, Aleister Crowley had an exhibition of seventy-three of his paintings and drawings. One portrait hanging on the walls was that of Aldous Huxley. It is said to have been a hasty sketch or drawing of Huxley, about which Aleister Crowley stated, “I thought he had a lot of money and painted him like this to flatter him.” There is no record as to what ever happened to this particular painting, or if Huxley even bought it, although it is presumed to have been destroyed by the Nazis shortly before World War II. It appears the entire Crowley collection was seized from Martha Kuntzel who was living in Leipzig. She had been storing them for Crowley at the time. It was truly a great loss. ......... and on November 22, 1985 Maria Sabina died at the age of 91; she was a Mazatec healer, curandera, and Shaman, a native of Huautla de Jimenez, in the State of Oaxaca, Mexico. She is famous for the role she played introducing the sacred mushroom ceremony velada to the world. In 1955, Gordon Wasson and Allan Richardson, made history by becoming some of the first white men known to have participated officially in the nocturnal mushroom ceremony. Under the guidance of Maria Sabina, Wasson and Richardson each consumed six pairs of the mushroom Psilocybe caerulescens var. mazatecorum after which they began to feel the effects, manifesting visions of geometric patterns, palaces, and architectural vistas. The results of that experience was published in Life Magazine, May 13 1957, in an article titled "Seeking the Magic Mushroom." That article is considered the inspiration for Dr. Timothy Leary and others to try similar mushrooms and hallucinogens.
Friday November 21st 2008 – 10:15am Ed Wormuth of the old Ra-Hoor-Khuit Lodge, OTO [who took Minerval initation with me back in 1977] writes, "93 Jerry, I finally finished reading An Open Epistle on the Attempted Expulsion of Frater Achad Osher 583, you are correct it is a "tome"! I had no idea that things were going so badly for the O.T.O. It makes my inactivity these past years seem a wise idea [thru no wisdom on my part] or perhaps just "necessity" [Hillman]. ... I hope you are doing well. I wish I could make your soiree this evening, but I must pass. ... Please wish everyone my best regards at your get-together. 93s, Ed."
8:50am We have been up-loading a lengthy series of talks which Frater Hymenaeus Alpha 777 (Grady Louis McMurtry) did here in Berkeley on magick and philosophy. These were later transcribed and published. The series is titled FROM THE CALIPH. The first installment appeared in The Magickal Link, Volume 1 No.10 Oct. 1981e.v.. I wish to thank Frater Orpheus for making this page and the other pages possible in this series. The latest installment is No.5 in the series ... Click HERE and enjoy.
8:00am Paul Hohlt writes, "I just finished re-reading Cloud upon the Sanctuary and found that Eckhartshausen uses the term Augiodes, is this where Crowley first came upon the term he uses for his system of Magick? Also do you know why Eckhartshausen broke away from Weishaupt and the Illuminati after being a member." ..... Reply: All good questions but I have no idea.
7:15am We have only one Open House this month and in honor of THANKSGIVING which is next Thursday, everyone who shows up tonight at Love’s Sake Clerk House, who has not already been made a member, will be given FREE Membership in THE WEST COAST CENTRE OF PESTILENCE SOCIEYY. The Open House is at 6:30pm ... bring beer as an offering. ... Click HERE for details.
7:00am For the history buffs: Jacob Bohme the German philosopher and alchemist died on this date in 1624. He spent his life as a cobbler in the town of Gorlitz, Silesia and he published none of his writings during his lifetime. ……. And the author Arthur Machen was initiated into the Golden Dawn on this date in 1899. He assumed the magical motto of Frater Avallaunius. ……. And it was on November 21, 1911 that the spirit Ab-ul-Diz first appeared before Crowley’s Scarlet Woman Mary d’Este Sturges who was also known as Soror Virakam (Sanskrit for ‘I-Perform’) in Zurich. She was the secretary to Isadora Duncan. The spirit claimed the number 78 and offered a book to Aleister Crowley called ABA to Crowley. …….. and finally, on November 21, 1920 the young American Cecil Frederick Russell (1897-1987), also known as Frater Genesthai, arrived at Aleister Crowley’s infamous Abbey of Thelema in Cefalu. He had met Crowley in July of 1917, in New York, while working as an attendant at the Annapolis Naval Hospital.
Thursday November 20th 2008 – 5:25am Regarding yesterday's 6:55pm posting about 'MARRIED TO A SCORPIO SUPPORT DAY', Evelyn writes, " 93 Dear Jerry, You may want to include other battle-scarred victims of Scorpios such as long-suffering children and siblings. Your mention of November 18 triggered that thought (as it is the birthday of a member of my family)! Of course it is wrong to generalise.... In any event, my sympathies to those affected. Best wishes, Evelyn."
5:15am For the history buffs: Samuel Liddell Mathers died in his apartment in the Rue Rivera in Paris on this date in 1918 at the age of 64, in the world-wide post-war Spanish influenza epidemic. In 1904 Aleister Crowley issued an unauthorized edition of Mather’s translation of the Goetia where he not only credited the work to “a dead man” but prefixed an elaborate curse against Mathers in Greek. A translation of which concludes - “... the whole assemblage (of Demons evoked) calls to me and marches and throws down the terrible Mathers. He shivers in the coad, he has wronged someone ... and he has poured the blood of Nature upon himself.” …….. also, Mary Anne Maclean De Grimston was born on this date in 1931. She was the co-founder, along with her husband Robert of The Process Church which gained infamous notoriety by appearing in the book about Charles Manson titled The Family. ……. And equally important on November 20, 1952 George Adamski made contact with beings from the planet Venus. They arrived in a UFO in the desert of California. …….. and finally, on the exact same day, or November 20, 1952, Roy Leffingwell died in his California home. He had taken Minerval and First Degree initiation into the OTO back on February 24th 1938, and he later became the Lodge Master of Agape Lodge after Jack Parsons had resigned.
Wednesday November 19th 2008 – 6:55pm There is something that I totally forgot to mention yesterday that is so important. NOVEMBER 18th is officially listed as 'MARRIED TO A SCORPIO SUPPORT DAY' ... This is, and I quote - "A worldwide day of remembrance to honor all those married to Scorpios and who suffer greatly." ... No other sign in the zodiac has such an official holiday. Kinda says alot, no?
10:30am Jerri writes re: my 9:30am posting, "93 Jer, The code!!! Brilliant. I love your evil, evil ways!! That man must have been so pissed...I bet his ego was sorely bruised to know that he didn't catch that before it was published. Hysterical. Love ya! 93 93/93 JJJ." ... Reply: hee hee hee.
9:50am Mary, in her previous email, asked, "You keep surfacing stuff that you wrote. All I can say is wow, how much have you written? Seems like a lot." ...... Reply: I am a workaholic, no doubt. I started compiling a list awhile ago, single spaced, listing my diaries, paintings, articles that I've published, books, AA related material, along with everything that I've ever basically written [except letters and emails] and it's about 75% complete right now but I'm still hunting for a few items lost in my files which I cannot find ... anyway, right now, the list is almost a whopping 40 pages long. Yes, I write alot!
9:30am I was the sixth Lodge Master of the oldest continually operating Lodge in the world, Thelema Lodge OTO which was founded by Grady McMurtry. I held this position between 1991-1993. On August 4th, 1993 after spending days drafting an official letter to Bill Breeze, I finally sent it. It began: “This is the type of letter I’ve always dreaded because it expresses neither a popular opinion nor can it fully explain what torment runs through my soul in so few pages. The jest of the letter you already know since our phone conversation of August 2nd but it can be summoned up simply, it is my decision after much thought that I am resigning as Lodge Master of Thelema Lodge.” ... It was Bill Breeze who suggested that I write one last nice Editorial for the Thelema Lodge Calendar, for the September edition, to help make the “transition smooth” and to “bury the hatchet.” I immediately began drafting my last Editorial, which I called it ‘POSITIVE CHANGES IN THE BAY AREA.’ What no one was aware of at the time was the 'Coded Message' that I concealed in its words. I published the basic story in CORNELIA No.18 but HERE I also publish Bill Breeze's reaction when he finally found out what I had done!
9:00am Andy from Japan writes, "Jerry 93! I'm glad your Epistle on your OTO expulsion has resurfaced. It's been a few years now since I first read it and I think it's a remarkable story. It makes me wish I could've been a part of it - the fighting for the A.'.A.'. Anywho, keep up the good fight. 93 93/93 Andy." .... Reply: The fight is never really over, we must always be on our guard; ties to old aeon are strong and forever rearing their ugly head. You and others will sooner or later be the next generation to carry the sword. Never forget that.
8:00am Mary writes, “I read your new epistle, very compelling. Wish I had known Grady or even Phyllis. How much are you like Grady?” …….. Reply: At times I’m more like Grady than I care to shake a stick at; we both party hard, done our fair share of drugs, drink a lot, known a fair share of woman and enjoy life to the fullest and we fight with the same conviction whenever restrictions rear their ugly head to contain Thelema. To some outsiders our lives might seem like one great party or spectacle but I kinda like to think that it’s never been dull. However, things are slowing down of late; age has slowly crept up on me. I’m 57. Still, I love drinking and if a friend offers to buy me a beer at the local bar I rarely decline; its one of the few things I still relish. I’ll probably die with a drink in hand, a cute girl on the other and a smile on my face.
7:35am A friend, who shall remain anonymous, read yesterday’s 8:30am posting and writes, “Powerful statement. I'll bet it causes some gnashing of teeth in certain quarters.”
7:00am Dave from Florida writes, "Hey Jerry, 93 I have to tell you I was riveted by your story of your trial or lack there of and tribulations with the OTO. I also greatly enjoyed Phyllis's letters. I wish I had known her she seems like a very unique star. You have changed my mind about a great many perceptions of people into the Crowley, and I am eternally thankful for your views and being part of this lineage. I felt a great deal of correlation in my perceptions of Thelema and yours, however where I find my feelings were divergent you were not dogmatic but analytic of my early views and coaching towards your interpretation. This had a profound effect on me showed me I could learn much from you. I feel like a catapult wound up and ready to fire. I think we should publish more works get the word out of your lineage, the time is ripe. I know there are alot of people like me that see the OTO and are afraid of the organization and some of the leadership not the teachings. I'm sorry I am just ranting but I wish there was a palatable OTO in my neighborhood. I mean if OTO was doing things to better humanity spread the Law, I think people would definately change their peception. Right now only the people that feel a calling to Crowley seem to take up the cause in general. Thelema is bigger than the Prophet. What about a Soup Kitchen for the Law or something I feel compelled to spread Thelema.... but how. Look at the appeal of the Masons... or other fraternal organizations... Like you said there needs to be a vehicle through publications widely found in bookstores (weblinks or addresses in book jackets etc.) or online connectivity to your blog. Expand the sphere of influence.. I am very interested in hearing your ideas on this. 93 93/93 David." ......... Reply: In many ways I agree with you, in many ways I know the world is ripe for Thelema without rules, regulations and dogma. But right now I'm fighting declining health and although I have good days, I also have more bad than not but hopefully all will be better within the next three or four months (keep fingers crossed) and, if all goes well, we can definitely make better plans to expand but not right now. I fear that I simply cannot deal with the stress. ... Anyway, you must remember something; in the old days under Grady it was not all perfect, I'd be stupid to say we didn't make lots of mistakes, have regrets or act in some un-Thelemic ways but what makes me proud to have been a part of those times is that it taught me that is was OK to folly, the Aeon is young, as long as we keep pushing forward at not only reading and learning about Thelema, but living it and making all our actions judged by it. .... Grady was a true Warrior in the Aeonic sense; he was no 'Hidden Master', he took the fight to what ever plane required battle; from Normandy, Korea to the most mundane conflicts confronting Thelema. With sword in hand, he was Caliph. He defended Thelema, he defended his Prophet. I hope my own legacy can be but a shadow of his in the fight again oppression, tyranny and restrictions. Posting the Epistle that I did yesterday shows just 'part' of the struggle that I've endured over the years. It has been a long road. I've never turned my back and run, nor bowed down to threats of lawsuits, or giving in or sold out with promises of a 'Higher Degree' as some have done; which is why I am the present Caliph. I too have picked up the sword and will defend the rights of Thelema, as all true Caliphs should.
6:15am Here is an amusing quote from the private unpublished diary of Aleister Crowley dated November 19th 1938 – “The day was curiously peaceful. One must not have women about.”
6:00am For the history buffs: Grady Louis McMurtry received a letter, on this date in 1943, from Aleister Crowley in request to help him come up with a magickal motto. In this letter Crowley wrote, “... Ah! United. Yes: Sometimes I sat and thunk, and sometimes I just sat. But no nearer to your motto. Then a flash! Well, yes, I think it may do. Hymenaeus Alpha (=Aleph) (You know the Greek Alphabet & its values of course?) Hymenaeus, the Graeco-Roman God of Marriage; and Alpha (Aleph) with all its meanings - see Essay on Atu O in the Tarot. And the whole show adds up to 777. Good enough?” Grady immediately sent Crowley back a letter, which was dated November 25th, “Is 777 good enough? I should argue with Jack Pot! This Alpha business. A bi-lingual pun asserts itself, i.e. ‘Liber Aleph’ which could mean anything from ‘Greetings, o perfect Fool’ to ‘Hi, Chump’. Yes, I think that it will do. And I think that I am the boy for the job.” ... and thus, Frater Hymenaeus Alpha 777 was born.
Tuesday November 18th 2008 – 8:20pm Ben Hance writes, "I am glad to see that you have put your O.T.O. expulsion documents online; esp. the letter from Phyllis. I think that is one of the most succinct expoundings of Thelemism written."
7:00pm Another Haiku from Faustus:
An endless void of darkness
Until the dawn breaks

1:45pm Jay writes, “Female sexuality is something I've always found interesting as I think it's key to empowering women.” … You would, you’re a Scorpio. … Let me add something just to be the devil’s advocate. First, I too have always found those foul little creatures a bit interesting but I wouldn’t say that their sexuality is the “key” to “empowering women” any more than male’s sexuality empowers us. In both cases its our greatest hindrance. I know that it’s merely semantic at time but how you word things can easily be taken wrong, or be misleading so be careful to ‘explain’ yourself more clearly. … Second, sexuality is the ‘lowest’ 'animalistic' manifestation of our libido which refers to our over-all psychic energy that animates us and allows us to function. To say it empowers implies that you think Malkuth is all important and I’d like to think we can focus the energy a little higher. … You also added, “I agree with your point about women needing to communicate, but I think the issue is more multi-faceted than that. Men have a role in communication as well and if the man can't talk openly about sex then how can his partner?” … Ah, you’re still young. I love youthful optimism. It brings a tear to my eye that there is still hope for humanity but you’ll get over it. You'll learn … and although it is true what you write, men in general are chest pounding gorillas and we don’t ask for directions if we’re lost while driving a car so what makes you think we’ll be able to ask for directions in bed? … Remember, communication is a two-way street and men can easily get their ‘one’ orgasmic explosion simply by looking at a cross-eyed sheep with three legs, so if the ladies want more out of us they need to take some initiative and help us cavemen understand themselves since ‘their’ anatomy is more complicated. … Finally, Jay adds, “I also think there's a lot to be said for the kind of neurosis that Christianity has produced in the west. Even non-Christians here grow up in a society where sex is "naughty" or "dirty". Female sexuality is especially taboo in this mindset. Sexologists have a term, "pre-orgasmic," as it's really that common for young women especially to have trouble reaching orgasm during coitus. I think a lot of these issues are naturally being shed as we move more and more into the new aeon. I guess my overarching point is that there's a lot of peculiar psychological pressure at play-- for both men and women. There's always the 2-minute effect of ‘lets hurry up and get this over with before we have to really address the matter.’ Und so weiter.” …. And I agree, 'and so forth' could mean many things. No?
11:25am The Teitan Press announced the release of their latest publication: A Book of Shadows, Transcribed and with Artwork and Embellishments by pan.zos pagurus ... The compiler of this book, pan.zos pagurus, was initiated into a Witchcraft Coven in England in 1976, and in keeping with tradition copied out his initiators' "Book of Shadows" adding his own embellishments, and magical notes. The result, reproduced here in facsimile, is an authentic and very beautiful grimoire, created by an active practitioner of the craft over thirty years ago. Go to The Teitan Press website to view further images of this book and get more data; click HERE or HERE for details & ordering info.
10:43am Ricardo of the Queen of Heaven Clerk House writes, "Jerry, 93! Kudos on recovering those copies of the historical epistles! Someone must have nudged them over from the Akashic records for you. (Now, I'm off to read this epistle and save it in my own computer before you decide to marry an OTO woman again...) :) Ricardo 93 93/93." ...... Reply: Ha! Ha! Ha! I was in stitches upon reading this. Yes, I will never marrying anyone within the OTO ever again. I hope you enjoy a piece of history regarding the legacy of Grady McMurtry's AA.
8:30am It has been almost ten years since issues arose within Ordo Templi Orientis where one particular AA lineage denied the existence of all others claiming that it, and it alone, was the 'true' AA. I wrote a lengthy piece about this episode titled AN OPEN EPISTLE ON THE ATTEMPTED EXPULSION OF FRATER ACHAD OSHER which began in the summer of 2000. It details the saga of how this arrogance unfolded and ended. This Epistle and its follow-up Epistles were presumed lost when our old AA website known as Red Flame was deliberately attacked in 2006 and parts destroyed by a newly made Sixth Degree OTO Initiate. Just recently they were located on an old computer disk and we are proud once again to offer our readers the opportunity to explore this soap opera. I know that there will be some individuals who might get mad or irritated that old wounds are scratched but they might want to remember those classic words originally written by George Santayana (1863-1952) - "Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes." ... Equally important, maybe not to some but definitely to members of Grady McMurtry's AA, is this story of the struggle that we endured to preserve this noble man's AA lineage. Had I not stood my ground, along with the late Phyllis Seckler and others, the AA today would be owned solely by ex-members of Marcello Motta's AA and anyone wishing to quote, write or republish anything related to Aleister Crowley's AA would have to ask for copyright permission. Thanks to me standing my ground and challenging the authority within OTO, all AA material is now as our Prophet wanted - FREE to humanity. This is an important historical legacy for Grady McMurtry's AA and one our lineage should be proud of ... If you have any doubt that I am not the rightful heir to the Caliphate, with sword in hand, then perhaps you should begin reading this story. Click HERE.
5:15am For the history buffs: on November 18, 1896 The Sacramento Bee in California reported in its newspaper of the strange appearance in the sky of an unidentified object “huge and cigar-shaped and had four large wings attached to an aluminum body.” There were quite a few sightings throughout the later half of this year up and down Northern and Central California. What it was, has remained a mystery. …..….. Also on November 18, 1939 Isaac Fuld, who with his brother William, was a co-owner of the original Ouija Board Company in Baltimore, Maryland, died at the age of seventy-four. His brother died twelve years earlier, in February of 1927, when he accidentally fell off the roof and plunged three stories to his death. He was only 54. …..…. And how can I not mention that on this date in 1975 the Lutz family bought the Amityville house on Long Island, New York and some might argue that they perpetrated one of the most famous modern hoaxes which would later inspire the movie, The Amityville Horror. …..…. And to continue with today’s flavor; on November 18, 1978 the mass suicide of 900 people occurred at the direction of their pastor, the Rev. Jim Jones, in the People’s Temple at Jonestown, Guyana. His congregation stood in line for poisoned grape-flavored Kool-Aide. As for Jones, he died of a gun shot wound. Sadly, there are not many good Jim Jones jokes. Maybe its because they alway make the punch lines too long?
