Friday February 29th 2008 – For the history buffs: Aleister Crowley’s sister, Grace Mary Elizabeth Crowley died on this date in 1880, leaving young Alex an only child. ….. and Charles Webster Leadbeater died on this date in 1934. He was supposedly trained for clairvoyance by an Indian Master and later became one of the prominent researchers in the field of human consciousness. He applied his knowledge by supporting several occult movements, particularly the Theosophical Society and the co-Masonic obedience Le Droit Humain. He was also a Rosicrucian, a Martinist, and a prominent member of the Egyptian Rite of Memphis-Misraïm.

Thursday February 28th 2008 – 10:45am I was sent this link: http://lapidus-93.livejournal.com/31501.html?style=mine which is a LiveJournal. On February 26th Lapidus 93 posted a piece under the heading of ‘Family As entity.’  In this blog he writes, “I recently received issues number five and six of Cornelia. Jerry Cornelius devotes the entirety of the sixth issue to an examination of his family history. This is intended to serve as an example to the reader in light of his assertion that a portion of the composite human being (distinct from the reincarnating soul) is  "...assimilated into one vast collective unconscious of the family..." upon the death of the individual. He is here referring to the earthly family as that word is conventionally used. My chief question regarding this idea is: to what extent is the human family with which such a collective unconscious is associated a social entity and to what extent is it a biological entity? Examples of social entities to which egregors or a collective unconscious have been attributed include: clans, nation states, and occult secret societies. If the families considered here are more biologically based then other matters are brought to mind such as the transmission of energies through intercourse and through specific sex-magic practices. When the biological aspect is most important then genetic relationships take on an importance they do not hold if the social aspect is key. If genetic relationships are crucial then we have to acknowledge that sometimes the old cliche of "momma's baby, papa's maybe" sometimes applies. Folks of past generations did not always hold to their marriage vows and in cases of known "illegitimate" births the mother did not always know the identity of the biological father with certainty. In the case of baby Enigma, Peter, you are not the father! The importance of this is that it would make it difficult to benefit by an examination of one's own family and ancestry as the author suggests. Ah well, food for thought.” …… Reply: Your family with its collective unconscious, social and genealogical heritage, biological and even genetic make-up etc are all important aspects in which we chose to incarnate.  Everything pre-puberty are foundation stones to who we are today and, as such, we must review and analysis our childhood as if under a microscope, like a scientist; leaving no stone un-turned; herein lies the Key to our True Will. I’d suggest everyone re-read the first issue of CORNELIA; the series entitled In Quest of The Holy Guardian Angel. Considering this quote: “The first gift, according to Plato in The Myth of Er, is that our Soul is allowed to leisurely preview lots, or ‘samples of lives.’ These lives included those of tyrants and murderers, to the righteous, to the wealthy and even the poor. Every possible type of incarnation was offered to the Soul. It had to look over these samples and determine which life, or ‘calling’, might best, according to Plato, “make him able to learn and discern between good and evil.” In other words, it was believed that reincarnation was meant to temper the Soul in an Alchemical furnace. This helped bring the Soul to a greater realization of good through all experiences, including evil; in order for it to fulfill the decree of the Gods.” [end] … I would now add that having parents with a rich historical legacy, or not, is immaterial and choosing to be born into a family with no history is something each individual needs to examine as to what the lesson was that they took out from it. Remember, the first Law of magic is ‘Know Thyself’ and these two words are not followed by ‘Internally.’ … The lesson found in CORNELIA No.6 is not for people to seek some great or glorious genetic or genealogical past but to examine the family you picked, with all its good and bad. … One student once asked me, “I can only write three pages on my family and childhood then I hit a brick wall. What do I do next?” I replied, “Quantity is not as important as the quality of thought you put into asking how those three pages affected your life.”

back from the Post Office and found that postal rates

overseas have skyrocketed and will climb again on May 1st.

I've lost a bundle just this month alone with the orders that

I have shipped out. My dilemma is whether or not to

continue to ship overseas or just let you guys know

that the simplest of packages will cost you an arm and a leg.

Almost, or more than in some cases, double what you paid just a month ago.

5:35am Mike, I understand exactly what you are saying in defense of OTO but I was a member of the upper degrees for over 27 years. I stand by statement made yesterday at 11:00am that if the OTO knew some great sexual secret it "would be full of great sex-magicians moving mountains, producing unbelievably insightful manuscripts and teachings." The only thing the OTO is good for is 'promising' the solution to things which, by their own actions, prove they're incapable of giving them.

5:00am Carl, an AA student from Illinois, writes, "I found Luna's email (with your comments) from the blog 2/27 at  1:05pm quite inspiring! I'm glad to say that for some reason I've never previously read The Hobbit (despite the fact that a large section of my chosen and preferred are of the sign Cancer; present company included, of course.)  Now I have a great reason to pull it off of the shelf! ... Excellent bit about not looking for a pied piper to lead one around instead of simply looking for the Leader within!  Reminds me a bit of that great Buddhist saying: 'If you see the Buddha walking down the side of the road: Kill him! That's not the real Buddha; he's within.' The suggestion that each of our Paths has it's own important kingly dignity and place in the cosmos is quite refreshing, indeed. And it needs to be remembered perserveringly. : D." ..... Reply: Yes it does. Being a Thelemite in this world is difficult and more often than not it is easier to simply act like one of the slaves who shall serve who wallow around blindly from moment to moment in quest of food, shelter and sex. In truth, most mortals are no better than their dogs and cats except for the stuff they accumulate around themselves but can they take any of it with them upon death? No. So who is better, humans or animals? Sadly, many people sell the Soul for the here-now rather than pursue they Kingly rights according to Liber AL vel Legis. Many never realize that they are a Star! The way I see it, too many magicians in this fast-food world want instantaneous results, to pick up a book, utter incantations and learn a ritual or two and boldly proclaim how great they are. I've always loved the attitude found throughout The Hobbit which implies that half the fun of getting there is the journey! It reminds me so much of the Grail legend about the journey or quest being more important than finding the GraiI. It also reminds me why I incarnated, to experience our world ... and not to be a slave to it. Thus the Laws of Malkuth (Earth) or 1=10; the 'circle-squared' and the Law which tells us 'one you control while the other controls you.' 

4:45am For the history buffs: Mina ‘Moina’ Bergson the gifted artist and clairvoyant was born on this date in Geneva, Switzerland in 1865. She was the wife of Samuel L. MacGregor Mathers, one of the founders of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. After his death in Paris she returned to London in 1919 where she established the Alpha et Omega Lodge, which she ran somewhat successfully for nine years. She died on July 25, at the age of sixty-three at Saint Mary’s Hospital in London. Her body was cremated. After her death all the magickal furniture of Moina’s Golden Dawn Temple, as well as her writings and private papers, were burned per the orders that she received from the Secret Chiefs. It an odd twisted way it was fulfilling her magickal motto of Vestigia Nulla Retrorsun which means “I leave no trace behind.” ……. And it was on February 28, 1946 that the great goddess appeared to Jack Parsons in his Babalon Working claiming, “yea, it is I Babalon, and this is my book ...” of which she began dictating and thus was written The Book of Babalon. ……. And Richard Ramirez was born on this date in El Paso, Texas in 1960. Besides being called a “spineless, gutless punk” he was also known as the Night Stalker; a term taken from a song on AC/DC’s album titled Highway To Hell. This was Ramirez’s favorite heavy metal band. His nighttime killing spree and sexual attacks of random victims began in June of 1984 and proceeded for about five months. He boasted of being a ‘Devil worshipper,’ a ‘Satanist’ and he was notorious for scrawling an inverted pentacle in his victim’s blood on the wall of each crime scene. He was found guilty on September 20, 1989 and sentenced to death.

Wednesday February 27th 2008 – 5:45pm Frater Orpheus of AUM HA CLERK HOUSE sent an email re: my 6:00am posting - "Yes the colors are bit bright but I like it and all was chosen for a reason...the stars are a dark olive green but don't really show in the photo." ...  Reply: Yes, I agree.

3:45pm I went to my Post Office Box a few minutes ago and I found a package from LUNA. It contained a lovely necklace of beads; three red, three black and three white in a row; Pombagira's favorite colors! Thank you Luna, you know how to appease a Crab's heart ... more toys! I will wear it proudly!

1:05pm I replied to LUNA’s email of 2/26. It begins: You are too kind when you wrote, “Jerry, for one is indeed a 'one on one' person.  In other words, he is not a 'guru', or a 'cult leader'.” … you are correct. Life to me is one big Mystery. I incarnated into this foul little sexual body, I play with it and tomorrow I may change my opinions about it. How can such flexibility in myself demand anything of others? If I tell anyone to ‘follow me’ is that a reference to Jerry yesterday, today or tomorrow? I guess this is why I’ve pulled away from many of the main stream fraternities. I cannot deal with the head trips imposed upon me, or on others; I have yet, in over forty years of studying magick, found anyone I can truly follow except Grady.  He was a genius and down-to-Earth but never once did he demand me to worship him or follow him as if a puppy dog. He was strong and forceful when he needed to be and he was playful, a sexual deviate and provocative enough that when it was time to have fun. I felt like I was partying with a friend, not some awe inspiring guru whose ass I had to lick. He tried hard never to cross the planes. … And then you wrote, “I, personally, do not enjoy the mixed up role playing bullshit that (women especially) get caught up in...being the ‘femme healers’ or the ‘nurturers’....In my opinion this is bullshit.  Men, children, dogs and cats can nurture human children.  Human children have allegedly been raised by wolves.” …. Brilliantly written; being the Mr. Mom who stayed home to raise the son while the ex-wife worked, I too resent the fact that only ‘woman’ are often represents as the nurturing kind. The world is changing, Aquarius is taking hold, roles are what you make them. Stereotypes are being thrown out the window everywhere! There is no law beyond do what thou wilt. … I also feel affection for your magickal discourse on how you work magickally. [omitted here] It was very inspiring. However, when you wrote, “I do not have a clue as to what 'real' magicians do,” I would totally disagree. Children of all ages, around the world, buy amateurish books; do the written spells, join groups like OTO or other organizations promising to teach magic and hundreds achieve nothing, hundreds fall by the wayside. They have yet to learn that the very basics of a magician or that they MUST understand their proclivities, what makes them tick and how they function in their mundane bodies  – the first Law of Magic – ‘Know Thyself.’ Being comfortable in your own skin, regardless of sexual preference or proclivities and not to be ashamed of one’s past actions or present is a foundation stone no book can teach. Once you learn how to drive your own car, the road is wide open! You seem to grasp this magickal lesson intuitively and you know how to drive your ‘personal’ car to where you want to go. That is a gift. Have you ever known two people who drive their car the same way? … As far as intuitively grasping magickal principles; Grady thought the same thing of me but he always warned me not to teach ‘how’ I learned to drive the car but rather teach others how they must find their own method with fear of what society might impose upon them. I guess that is why I’m no one’s guru.  I cannot teach people that I am the way but rather I must teach them to simply follow me and we’ll both have fun along the Way. Very good. When most people try sex magic to achieve genius they think that an orgasm is the end result and they forget that ‘genius’ is the child born between two poles of Chockmah & Binah on the Qabalistic Tree of Life; far higher than Malkuthian (Earthly) delights. Its re-programming our brain to receive ‘Gnosis’ or genius. Anyway, we need the vehicle to utilize our ‘treasures’ but the process of getting to the Treasure is a journey to the Sacred Mountain which is guarded by a dragon; I always tell magicians to re-read The Hobbit.  It’s a great alchemical journey.  Elemental creatures who live deep within Earthly structures journeying [upward] to the peak of the Sacred Phallus, opps, I meant Sacred Mountain.  But does Bilbo Baggins find the gold? … I loved it when you ended your email writing, “You are free to walk about the streets, the cabin, the anywhere and everywhere/where there is......just remember, shuck the damn roles ... the Venus, the Mars, the this the that...We are all spirits with Brains in these here bodies.” … I couldn’t agree with you more. We tend to forget that every aspect in me, is in you; nothing that a man has in not found in the woman and vice versa – basic Qabalah 101. The only difference is our ‘manifested’ vehicle and how the energies manifest through it which are different but at no time should this dictate ‘roles’ … the world is our playground.

11:00am A student writes, "I’m also re-looking at Achad’s Stepping out the old Aeon and my Resh practice. Resh comes to me as a subtle remembrance like one has of a lover from one’s past. I tend to used that verse of AL:II:62. It’s as if a blush that cast over me throughout my day. I acknowledge my own energy fluctuations throughout the day as the moment for the remembrance, i.e. I awake and remember, as I reach the height of my energy I remember as my energy dwindles & etc. I do not care about the axial rotation of the Earth so much as acknowledging the ever present illumination of our source of light and life. What’s curious however is recently I am noting that a similar blush occurs in conversations with certain people. I also keep remembering Crowley talking of the sexual energy as the Holy Spirit or Shekina; one becomes aware of this energy as a by product of the actions one takes to manifest god’s glory on the physical plane as I’ve understood from my recent studies.  It’s all so connected and I am hard against myself for having ignored or even worse ignorantly misused these gifts. Blah.” ....... Reply. I don’t know if I’d call sexual energy a by-product as much the animating dynamics behind genius or True Will. The ‘erotic’ craziness of my art, my writing and even my blog, to name but a few of my proclivities, do not reflect my actual life. I’m actually a very quiet, shy kinda guy. I am a Cancer. … But I am fully aware that sexuality opens floodgates of spawned genius (ah, OTO secrets!) and this type of magick has taught me that not ‘earthing-out’ this energy is one of the Keys. I say ‘one’ of the reasons because there is a way to have physical sex and find a matrix but most men simply cannot do it properly. They see a naked girl, or even think of the possibly that it might happen and the old OTO joke of the drooling man, rubbing his hands nervously and saying - “Ya ya little girl, wanna be a priestess?” dictates behavior. … Sex magick in OTO circles is simply a way for some of society’s less fortunate to get laid, nothing more. If this were not true the OTO would be full of great sex-magicians moving mountains, producing unbelievably insightful manuscripts and teachings. Sadly, thanks to the modern OTO, sex magic is simply no longer taught and ‘bad behavior’ the norm. … Anyway, where ‘genius’ is concerned, it takes years to realize that sometimes an ‘erotic moment’ is greater than a fleeting time in the sack. … All in all, your comment is very good. Intellectually you are right on the money; our goal now should be how to get the ‘Scorpio vehicle’ to fully grasp and live what they know.

5:45am For the history buffs: Although many of his followers claim this man to be still alive, since he knew the secret of the Elixir of Life, the truth is that Comte de St. Germain died in Hesse, Germany on this date in 1784. ……. And Rudolf Steiner, philosopher and the father of bio-dynamic farming movement, was born on this date in Kralijevec, Hungary in 1861. At the age of eight he was already aware of things that are not seen by others. Writing about his experiences at this age, he said, “. . . the reality of the spiritual world was as certain to me as that of the physical. I felt the need, however, for a sort of justification for this assumption.” Inevitably, he was drawn to The German Theosophical Society, which he became the head of from 1902 until 1912. One of his main motives for leaving the Theosophists was that they did not treat Jesus or Christianity as special. After breaking away and formed his Anthroposophical Society on January 14, 1913. Steiner’s most lasting and significant influence still felt worldwide has been in the field of education. In 1913 at Dornach, near Basel, Switzerland, Steiner built his Goetheanum. This was a “school of spiritual science.” It was a forerunner of the Steiner or the now famous ‘Waldorf schools.’ The first U.S. Waldorf School opened in New York City in 1928. Today, the Steinerians claim that there are more than 600 Waldorf schools in over 32 countries with approximately 120,000 students. About 125 of the Waldorf schools are said to be currently operating in North America. Most people haven’t a clue where the term ‘Waldorf school’ originated. It seems the owner of a local factory had invited Steiner to give a series of lectures to his factory workers and apparently was so impressed he asked Steiner to set up a school for its children. He did so in 1919 and this became the first of the Steiner Schools - in the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette factory in Stuttgart, Germany. He wrote numerous books, a being The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity (1894), Occult Science: An Outline (1913), Investigations in Occultism (1920), and How to Know Higher Worlds (1904). On March 30, 1925 in Dornach, near Basle Switzerland, having been bed ridden since September of 1924, Steiner simply folded his hands over his chest, closed his eyes and died. ……. Finally, Valentin Tomberg was born on this date in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1900. He was a Theosophist, Christiam mystic and boasted of being a hermetic magician. He joined Rudolf Steiner’s Anthroposophical Society in 1925 wherein he rose within its ranks to become its Secretary-General. He later converted to Catholocism and moved to England. He retired to Reading near River Thames in England in 1960 where he began writing. He died on a holiday in Majorca on February 24, 1973. After his death his two manuscripts were finally published; A Study of the Tarot of Marseilles (1984) and Come Forth, Larzarus, a study of Christian mysticism (1985).

Tuesday February 26th 2008 – 4:20pm Luna writes, “Hey J 93! Tell Carol that Tilda Swinton, as she appeared at the Academy Awards on Sunday night, was very Pombagira...Swinton's red hair, her  "wet seal" looking jet black gown and her ivory skin...this is very Pomabagira also. ...and if anyone knows where to find a good stature of Bomba, let me know. I need to go back and find the site where I printed out the Pomba-Gira T-Shirt that I put on your photo for the collage. You have a great day, Jerry...it is beautiful outside.xxxx 93s )O(.”

5:45am For the history buffs: Ludovico Maria Sinistrari, of the Order of Reformed Minors of the Strict Observance of St. Francis, was born on this date in 1622 in the small Italian town of Ameno. His claim to fame is the fact that he was the author of the infamous Demoniality, a book which laid out the Catholic Church’s beliefs on demonic intercourse. It’s a really fun read! …... And Fredrich Levke was born on this date in Wesel in 1904. In 1936 he met the German occultist Martha Küntzel, who subsequently became his mentor. Proclaiming himself a Thelemite he later befriended Aleister Crowley. The high-point of his spiritual progress occurred in 1944 upon achieving the Adeptus Major Grade in the AA, and IX° within the OTO. He died in 1956. ……. George Adamski, the son of a Polish immigrant, who generated world-wide fame for filming UFOs and writing such books as Flying Saucers Have Landed, died on this date in 1965 of a heart attack in Silver Springs, Md. at the age of 74. He was cremated and then buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Although he had many followers who believed in his stories, Time magazine simply referred to him as “a crackpot from California.” At the time of his death he was offering to teach people how to visit the planets Venus and Mars through self-hypnosis ‘for only fifty dollars.’

Monday February 25th 2008 – 4:55pm The following notice has been posted on my Calendar -"I want to announce that beginning in March there will be some changes around my apartment in order for me to free up some time so that I can finish a few books that I need to complete. First, Friday nights are official closed to all, except if you call or email me for a visit as with other weeknights. Second; the new Open House will be moved to Saturday nights, but not every Saturday because I have my son visiting every other weekend. March will have three days; Saturday the 1st, 15th and 29th where I will open my apartment so we can get together and talk about history, HGA and magick etc. We will also be changing the time. Most people in the past thought seven was kinda late if traveling from a distance and so we decided to start at six. Please note these changes and I hope to see more of you in the near future."

2:50pm Sorry John, I cannot give you details of how or why or what exactly we "achieve when practicing astral magick." Cryptically I can tell you that Gnosis is a child born not in this world.

2:05pm I've gotten six emails asking about why Carol has the picture of my penis on her altar while wondering "how big is it" or that "it must be impressive" to want to "focus upon it" etc & etc. [see blog entry of today at 12:05pm] For the record, its normal. Have you ladies forgotten that this is a 'magickal blog?' If you have a statue on an altar does it depict the actual size of the God or is it merely the vehicle whereby you focus in order to direct your energy? Images, more so than language, connects us on the archetypal or astral planes. Photos are a great visual tool and focusing upon these before sleep can move mountains. Carol and I have been practicing astral magick back and forth for years. But in case you’re wondering, I practice safe sex. I wear a condom before going to bed.

12:10pm Bryan sent a great email discussing things he learned about himself. I replied, “We all incarnated to gain an experience. I’ve always told you that job, family and children were never your problem. It’s sacrificing Self to the point that you focus more into the Square rather than the Circle when Malkuthian problems arise.  You have always had a great tendency to cross the planes and put aside your teaching to focus on issues at hand on Malkuth. I’ve argued; pursue both! Keep the scales balanced. … I found it rather entertaining when reflecting upon my own son when he was born. He is a Capricorn, or the opposite sign to my zodiac, or Cancer. When studying Capricorn I found so much that I was lacking and needing to understand in my own Self. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I’ve grown more spiritually since his birth than any period in my life. Reflection into him and his sign, as if he were a mirror into my Soul, made Self Reflection a bridge easily crossed for me. … You’re an Aquarius and like many Aquariuses, you’re a analytical pain the ass and often your opposite sign, being Leo, digs its feet in to prove where ‘reality’ is right over spirit when issues present themselves to you. You do this in order to justify the need to put your spiritual quest on hold in order to stand like a lion over viewing your surroundings.  Perhaps, now that you were given a son who is also an Aquarius, it will make Self Reflection easier? Magically we know that we learn by example. It’s hard to face phantoms but easier to see the same thing in other people. This is the root of the problem that is facing your fellow Aquarian who recently had the meltdown. He intellectually knows what he did and he can analytically banter data of why ‘he’ acted in such a manner but he repeats the same problems over and over again which shows that he doesn’t really learn. So how does an Aquarian learn? … Self reflection is not your problem; it has always been one of your greatest tools but usually, it takes time for it to kick in. First you react to a situation, second you put aside magick so that you can panic and when things calm down, being often months down the road, your brilliance shines through when reflecting upon your actions. Maybe studying Aquarius objectively in order to understand your son will bring ‘insights’ in regards to yourself?”

12:05pm Carol replied to yesterday's email - "Jer 93. I won't leave you alone. The great Pombagira wants offerings! I keep your picture on my altar to focus upon and send 'love' energy. Do you like it? The website you mentioned calls Pombagira the 'Sacred Harlot Protectress of Women Guardian of Sexual Deviates.' I like it! Where can I buy a statue?" ...... Answer: I don't know where you can get the statue but I'd like one too. Also, you seem fixated about my penis ever since I sent you the picture, perhaps Pombagira might push you over the edge? Have you considered Catholic School?

11:00am Luna sent this blurb yesterday, "Jerry 93! I found the Australian dream link by dicking around on the keypad and banging in random nonsense along with Pomba Gira. I found an Australian artist named Barry William Hale who did some sort of Pomba-Gira working. Some of his cut-out work is similar to what was in my dream. 9:30am For the history buffs: Merwan Sheriar Irani more commonly known as Meher Baba the ‘Compassionate Father’ was born on this date to Zoroastrian parents in Poona, a city on the Deccan plateau of India in 1894. It was said that at an early age Meher Baba entered into the state of God-Realization and that his mission as an Avatar, a Hindu word for Godman, was to extend his principle message of love. On July 10, 1925 he began his period of silence. A few days earlier one of his disciples asked, “But if you keep silent, how will you teach us?” To which he simply answered, “I have come not to teach, but to awaken.” He did not speak again for the remainder of his physical lifetime and his Silence remained unbroken for 44 years right until he dropped his physical body on January 31, 1969, which is a euphemism used by the Baba lovers for death. His best known spiritual message given to mankind is the simple phrase  “Don’t worry. Be happy.” ……. the Australian Frank Bennett signed the Oath of a Neophyte in the AA on this date in 1919 and became known as Frater Progradior. He visited Crowley at the Abbey of Thelema at Cefalu where he supposedly attained an ‘illumination’ while swimming with the Beast. As a result Crowley wrote a ritual titled Liber Samekh; the frontispiece of which states: “Prepared An XVII Sun in Virgo at the Abbey of Thelema in Cephalaedium by the Beast 666 in service to FRATER PROGRADIOR.” That is; between 23rd August and 22nd September (Sun passes through Virgo) in the vulgar year of 1921 e.v.” Bennett attempted to establish Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientis in Australia but his work attracted hostile publicity and, because of such, he failed to achieve any real influence. Frank Bennett later returned to England. He died at the home of his mistress on November 23, 1930 at the age of sixty-two. ……. And I’d like to mention that Henri Landru, infamously known as ‘Bluebeard’, was guillotined in France on this date in 1922. He had murdered ten women and a young boy. In his confession he wrote, “I did it. I burned their bodies in my kitchen oven.” His story inspired the 1947 black comedy movie known as Monsieur Verdoux. ……. And I should point on that on February 25, 1927 The Baltimore Sun, of Baltimore Maryland, ran the following headlines : “Wm. Fuld is Killed in Fall from Roof, Support gives way while he is helping erect flagpole atop factory.” It seems William Fuld, one of the two brothers who founded the original Ouija Board Company, had accidentally fallen off the roof of his Baltimore company and plunged three stories to his death. He was only 54. Of course there were immediate rumors circulating of a suicide since the business had supposedly fallen on hard times. Others, who were actually present, disagreed, claiming that William was supervising the assembly of a new flagpole when the support post he was leaning against gave way. They said he simply fell backwards off the roof. Still, the suicide stories persist to this day. As for Isaac, the other brother, he died twelve years later on November 18th 1939 at the age of seventy-four. ……. And finally, on February 25, 1969   Barney Hill died. He had become famous years earlier due to his UFO experience being told in a now classic book titled The Interrupted Journey. In this book we learn the graphic details of Barney and his wife Betty being taken aboard a Flying Saucer on US Route 3 near the village of Lancaster, New Hampshire in 1961.

10:40am Rey from New Mexico saw my new photo page of the places in Berkeley where Grady McMurtry, Robert Anton Wilson, Phillip K. Dick and others lived. Click Here. He writes, “Awesome! Thank you for posting these images of Grady's old digs. I remember walking and driving by these places with you when I lived in San Francisco. I also remember hunting down Grady's residences when he lived in San Francisco. I believe you have those photos I took.” ….. Answer: Yes, I still have those pictures. Robert Flores and I were just looking at them last night! Anyway, I’m planning on using them on a page of Grady’s residences in SF. 

9:30am John sent an amusing email, part of which he asks: “How can I tell if butting into a friend’s situation to defend him is foolishness or following my True Will?”  ……. Answer: Good question. No one can predetermine to know another person’s True Will and it would be presumptuous of anyone to assume such. Yes, it could be argued in the pit of Because that my Aquarian student was simply following his True Will while defending his friend but this implies a lack of understanding of horizontal and vertical planes. Horizontal behavior is always based in the ‘Want’ as shadows or inklings of a person True Will in the ‘Here-Now’ - in the immediate moment. In other words, it is my ‘Want’ to have a beer because I picked this incarnation in order to gain a particular experience of which I consider drinking beer to be part. To this, I can only say, yes it is correct. On the other hand, vertical behavior is trying to find the actual reason behind our behavior or why we incarnated; this being our True Will. Our True Will does not care of trivial things which come and go and fade away as daily shadows; knowing that therein lies all pain. If you’re wondering what is, or is not a ‘shadow’ then focus on the thing in question and ask yourself if you can take it with you in death. … Can my Aquarian student take his friend with him upon death? ... Now do you understand? ... Still, in magick we know that we cannot escape the ‘mundane’ or ‘square’, in fact we really don’t want to, it’s our playground but some of the first lessons in the AA are for us to learn how to identify our particular ‘Kundrys’ which rise daily trying to shift our focus into Malkuth over Kether (1=10). .... My final view on the subject?  If you ‘Want’ to do anything on the mundane, it’s OK and if my Aquarian friend ‘Wants’ to defend a friend then it is his right to do such … but he shouldn’t cry if a vertical school tells him to go play.

8:20am My blog entry of February 2nd 7:00am dealt with an AA student’s unfortunate meltdown here in the Bay Area during Mercury Retrograde in his sign. Since then he’s written many apologies and, since we learn by example, I'd like to share this folow-up to his story. In one email he writes about his difficulties with the other AA student which caused me to throw him out of my apartment. He now writes, “I don't have a problem with him aside from the way he treated a dear friend of mine. I wish him … the best and respect him as a Thelemite, but what I told you that got you upset was exactly what I told him to his face. I try to brush stuff off when it is regarding me but when it involves a friend and is unjustified I can't help but speak up if I'm involved, one of my achilles heels. I am holding no animosity towards [him]. Any way I'm looking at it as water under the bridge and will give them my 93s. Again I am sorry for disrupting your home/temple which I consider a Sanctuary of Thelema and a Temple of the Gnosis.” … In some ways I was furious upon receiving his email and after years of him hanging around I would have thought that something might have sunk in about Thelemic behavior and Angelic magick and the Kundry. I replied, “What you wrote is typical back-peddling now that things have calmed down and rational minds take over. But never in my life have I heard more vicious, hateful and arrogant words being vomited from anyone as I heard from you that Friday night. Obviously, it was something stewing awhile that you had to get off your chest … and now I am to believe that you’ll act ‘Thelemically’ when you see [this AA student]?  … In your drunken stupor you totally missed the point of my talk; it had nothing to do with [the AA student] or your friend. You were treating me like shit; you were belligerent and condescending and as the head of the AA; you unmitigatedly disrespected me in my own home while I was trying to talk.  … My view?  … Why should I bother to talk to you or to teach you anything anymore? The first time an issue arose, wherein you were blinded by unreserved anger and acting irrational, you did not listen and you actually went as far as verbally abusing your teacher while bantering how ‘right’ you were?” ... I added for him to consider my blog entry of February 2nd: 7:00am and then noted how he has now written - “Any way I'm looking at it as water under the bridge and will give them my 93s. Again I am sorry for disrupting your home/temple which I consider a Sanctuary of Thelema and a Temple of the Gnosis.”  ….. My reply: It might be water under the bridge for you and maybe at a horizontal school like OTO or even around Keith Street your behavior might be tolerated but as with Crowley, in a vertical school, I don’t give second chances … especially considering that your email yesterday is epitomizing you again trying to justify your actions and your own ego, as to why you were ‘right’ rather than facing the phantom that you could possibly be wrong.  You forgot the basic Thelemic Law; there are two sides to ever coin.  Your ‘friend and yours’ are NOT solely right and I see no responsibility taken for YOUR actions for the Hell that YOU created by butting into other people’s affairs. … And the filth that you vomited that Friday night about [the other AA student] will not go away the next time you see him regardless if you act under Pax Templi.  The bottom line: your ‘Pax Templi’ approach is well brought-up for a ‘horizontal school’ but not ‘vertical.’ We don’t care if you get along with everyone, as brothers fight ye, but we do care if you are capable of facing your phantoms." …... A few days passed and he replied: “I'd already read what you'd written on the blog and seen the chart you printed up about the incident before I emailed you about not coming over on Fridays. I respect and hear what you are saying. I'll miss the association. Also thanks for taking those pages offline, and everything else.” ….. I was again amazed by his obvious lack of taking responsibility for his actions. He’s more worried about losing association with me than offering even one hint of an Iota or remorse for his abuse of the AA system ... but for the record, and all who ask will be told such, he is not banned nor have I told him officially that he cannot ever come around again. But when he does come around he best be aware that I will neither tolerate nor accept his bad behavior. My apartment is a learning space; and he must constantly be aware of Jerry the friend and Jerry the AA teacher. Cross the planes, as he did, is inexcusable. ... Also, as long as he defends his actions against the other AA student, as being 100% right, he puts me in the middle of an awkward situation. For the record, he attacked the other AA student, he butted his nose into a situation simply to ‘defend’ a person on Malkuth whose actions were not, I might add, without sin, which is something he completely ignores and denies. This Aquarian forgets the Laws of a Star which clearly says that a Star following its True Will, will never come into conflict with another unless dragged down into the pit of Because through a personal ‘want’ to do such. In other words, he had the choice of keeping out of a situation and being neutral, especially where another AA student was involved, rather than taking sides. He made his bed. … And in regards to posting his Aquarian meltdown on my blog [Feb.2nd], he writes, “thanks for taking those pages offline, and everything else.”  … Reply, but they are not off-line. They are in the archive section of my blog. I want to be able to quote them as lessons in regards to the folly of an ego digging its feet in unjustifiably where the square becomes more important than the circle. We learn by example. It's a warning for all students who play with magick; your Kundry can come in many forms ... to this Aquarian he came knocking in the form of an old friend.

7:45amFor the history buffs: Giovanni Pico de Mirandola, the Renaissance Alchemist, philosopher and scholar and author of De Auro, was born on this date near Ferrara in 1463. He was an Italian philosopher and humanist. To many in the age of the Renaissance, Pico was the ideal man, whose physical beauty reflected his inner harmony. In his Oration on the Dignity of Man (c. 1487) he proclaimed that individuals face no limits to their development except those that are self-imposed. His other works include Heptaplus, a mystical account of the creation and De Ante et Uno; an unfinished attack on astrology. At the age of 23 he moved to Rome where he publicly posted a list of 900 ‘propositions’ which he offered to speak upon and defend. However, the Pope deemed that some of his ideas dealing with cabalistic magic were heretical and he outright forbade him to carry on his projected discussions. Most of his life he believed in the Kabbala and interwove its ideas into his own philosophical theories in an attempt to conciliate religion and philosophy. He died on November, 17, 1494. …… and it was on February 24, 1902 that Wynn Westcott authorizes Theodore Reuss to form a High Council in Germania of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia, with Reuss as the Magus and Leopold Engel as Magus Delegatus Primus. Sadly, the Order never took root and by July of 1907 it folded. …… and the science fiction writer named August Derleth was born on this date in 1909 in Sauk City, a small, largely German village, pleasantly situated on the west bank of the Wisconsin River in south central Wisconsin. In 1939 he established Arkham House Publishers which was devoted to releasing the work of the late H. P. Lovecraft, Lord Dunsany and Algernon Blackwood and others. He died on July 4, 1971. ……. And finally, on February 24, 1950 one of the founding members of the Ordo Templi Orientis in the United States died in Canada; this was Frater Achad, or Charles Stansfeld Jones.

Saturday February  23rd 2008 – 1:30pm I added Phillip K. Dick's house to my TELEGRAPH MEMORIES section; or where he lived while attending Berkeley High School.

1:20pm Jay, who lives on Channing Way here in Berkeley, sent an email after reviewing 'Telegraph Memories', writing - "93 Jerry, that's so great! I'm living right between those two apartments where Grady and Bob used to live. I love the rich history in this international village!"

1:15pm Luna writes, "93! I'd take a tour! and, actually, if you get in the mood to do tours, I think that they would be fun!  (and also very interesting). Many sub-culture tours are sought out...or at least they used to be. V.Vale and Frank Discussion took John Waters on a "famous S.F. murder sites" tour back in the day.  And, as you know, in The City, now, there are Vampire tours and Barbary Coast Tours.  From a magick point of view, I KNOW that if you did tours that the magical act of taking people to these places would energize the dreamcatcher with 93 Current, which would get the current charged in your/our favor.  I don't like to talk to many people about this theory of mine because it has smackings of pilgrims going to Jerusalem....but I must say that visiting real places can, if the focus is right, be very good for the magick in general. I have found that visiting the real places will sometimes suck the current right out of me (demystify), but I have also found that within a few weeks, when I continue to tap into the history or connection to the 93 Current that I can get better grounded, and then, when I tap back into it...the de-mystified reality can be used for real live connection in a better more useful manner. … So.....yes, when spring comes round...I'll go on a walk to these places...and I think that rather than it would be interesting to do some street chaos magick while walking, whether it be postering with small fliers with sigils or whatever.. anyway...I like it and when I am done working with the photos of the party and Max's latest speaking gig I will go look at your blog. …  Oh....I had three dreams last night that all took place in Australia, of all places.  I woke up feeling very impish and pirate-y...I don't remember ever dreaming about being in Australia before...let alone three dreams...so I may put pencil to paper later today and see what, if anything, I linked to.  93s  )O(." ..... I also point out where Robert Anton Wilson lived in the early 1970s during his Cosmic Trigger days, plus where my apartment is in relationship to everything as well as the infamous People's Park and other amusing Berzerkeley locations. Reply: She was a sweet and innocent thing before meeting me; a nice little Catholic girl. Then, under a full moon, on a warm romantic night, I kissed her ... she blushed and I've called her Toady ever since! I think we would still be together today had it not been for her newly acquired taste for flies.

6:25am For the history heap: The German humanist and Jewish scholar Johann Reuchlin was born at Pforzheim in the Black Forest on this date in 1455. He believed that the Kabbalah was a profound theosophy which might be of the greatest service for the defense of Christianity and the reconciliation of science with the mysteries of faith. Reuchlin’s mystico-cabbalistic ideas and objects were expounded in the De Verbo Mirifico (1494), and finally in the De Arte Cabbalistica (1517). He admitted openly of practising magic and summoning Angels. He died in 1522. ……. Also, Sybil Leek was born on this date in Straffordshire, England in 1917, although she always told people she was born in 1922. However, at her death, her ‘funeral card’ gave the correct information. Many consider this auburn-haired, green-eyed woman one of the most famous twentieth century witches and astrologers who ever lived while others are not quite sure they’d go that far. Her claims to hereditary witchcraft are as fascinating as they are debatable. After leaving England she briefly stayed in California before finally settling in Texas. It was here that she made her fame from media coverage, radio shows and believe-it-or-not an occult restaurant in Houston named Sybil Leek’s Cauldron. She is probably most famous for her long flowing black robe and her jackdaw named Mr. Hotfoot Jackson. She also gained considerable notoriety with her books, The Diary of a Witch, The Complete Art of Witchcraft and My Life in Astrology, to name just a few. She died on October 26, 1982 at the age of 65 in Florida after a long battle with cancer. One report of her death has it that a train derailed near to her Melbourne home and dosed her with a toxic gas which had caused her illness. She will be remember as a remarkable woman of many accomplishments; a gifted psychic, astrologer and writer who did much to influence the revival of the modern day witchcraft movement. According to Leek she met Aleister Crowley as a young child who said. “This is the one who will take up where I leave off”, adding “You’d better remember that, young lady. You’ll hear all sorts of things said about me and they’ll say the same things about you, but I shall have broken the ground for you.” Of course, history has now shown that Crowley never met her. …… and it was on this date in 1950 that Neil Megson was born. He is more commonly known by his stage name; Genesis P-Orridge. He is a gifted English musician and creator of anti-Muzak sound experiments which have been called ‘industrial’ which mutates music into a whole new genre of avant pop sound inspired by factories, machine and industrial noises, found objects, and audio samplings from mainstream consumer culture. His COUM Transmissions were Aleister Crowley-inspired performance art pieces that pushed the envelope of art, taste, self-mutilation, and endurance to the breaking point. After his band Throbbing Gristle broke up he went on to create Psychic TV and the designer cult group known as The Temple ov Psychick Youth. …….. but most important, it was in February 22, 1956 that Clive Harper was born in Luneburg, Germany. He is a great believer in snappy titles as evidenced by his work - A Supplement to the Second Editon of the Revised Version of Notes Towards a Bibliography of Austin Osman Spare. He has served as Hon. Secretary to the Committee of the Fine Madness Society for many years. The ‘Society’ is dedicated to the provision of relief to those unfortunate individuals with an incurable attraction to the first editions of Aleister Crowley.

Thursday February 21st 2008 – For the history heap: Anais Nin, a literary figure of the avant-garde, was born on this date in Neuilly, France in 1903. She was a ‘modernist’ writer of short stories and novels but is most famous for her sexually explicit journals and her correspondence with her lover, the American writer and story-teller Henry Miller. In her book Incest, in the chapter simply titled “November 2, 1934”, she wrote that “Henry has fallen under the spell of a remarkable old man {Aleister Crowley} who is fantastic and psychic, a painter gone mad in Zurich.” It seems, according to Miller, that he first met Aleister Crowley in Paris through the French astrologer Conrad Moricand in 1933 but Crowleyites are doubtful of this since Crowley was expelled from France in the April of 1929, never to set foot in that country again after June of that year. Therefore, how Miller could have encountered the Beast in Paris in 1933 is truly a remarkable feat of story-telling, which Anais Nin seemingly accepted as truth. She died of ovarian cancer on January 14, 1977. ……. Also, on this date in 1907 the British poet Wystan Hugh Auden, and author of The Age of Anxiety, was born in York, England. He was one of the 148 a contributors on a brief questionnaire which was sent “To the Writers and Poets of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.” The simple question that was asked of each was: “Are you for, or against, the legal Government and the People of Republican Spain? Are you for, or against, Franco and Fascism?” The final pamphlet was titled Authors take Sides on the Spanish War and was published by the Left Review, London 1937. Some of the author’s remarks are neutral, others are speaking out for Franco and, of course, Aleister Crowley’s comment in the pamphlet is referred to as being ‘violent.’ All he wrote was: “Franco is a common murderer and pirate: should swing in chains at Execution Dock. Mussolini, the secret assassin, possibly worse. Hitler may prove a ‘prophet’; time will judge.” ……. And finally, the first issue of The Oriflamme rolled off the press in California on this date in 1943. It was released through the Agape Lodge of Aleister Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientis. After receiving his copy Crowley sent Jane Wolfe a letter stating, “About ‘Oriflamme’: I cannot see the point of this at all. It is the most amateurish production I have ever set eyes on. You give absolutely not one word of the information which people expect when they pick up a new magazine. Why don’t you print the Constitution of the O.T.O. perhaps in an abridged form? You have got to show who you are, what you stand for, and what you are doing. You don’t even give an address, except a post office box. I can not imagine any more stupid way of wasting money. Anyhow, for the future, please print nothing of mine in any such rag-bag of imbecility!”

Wednesday February 20th 2008 – For the history heap: L. Ron Hubbard and Jack Parsons formally established a company together on this date in 1946. The business began by Jack Parsons taking $20,970.80 of his life savings of $25,000, adding it to L. Ron Hubbard’s meager amount of $1,183.91 and then depositing it all into an account called Allied Enterprises. The third partner, Sara Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Northrup, Jack’s ex and L. Ron’s new girlfriend, contributed absolutely nothing into the account. However, according to the paperwork she, Jack and L. Ron would share equally in the project. The over all scheme was to take the money and invest it in buying sailing vessels in Miami and then sail themt to California for resale at a good profit. It seemed like a good business venture, but ....… and I would also like to mention that Dr. Joseph Banks Rhine, the ‘father of modern parapsychology’ who established the Duke University Parapsychology Laboratory in 1935, died on this date at the age of 84 in 1980. He coined the term “extrasensory perception,” or ESP.

Tuesday February 19th 2007 – 6:25pm Big congratulations go out to Bryan Olson of Star-Splendour Clerk House, and his girlfriend. On Friday she gave birth to a 9 pound, 2 ounce baby boy!  Bryan has a son! He named him Adrian Randall Olson.

6:00am For the history buffs: Nicolaus Copernicus (Mikolaj Kopernik) was born on this date in Torun, Poland in 1473. He is considered the father of modern astronomy. He was the first person to attempt to apply a modern, almost rational standard of order to God’s universe, which marked the beginning of the scientific revolution, and of a new view of a greatly enlarged universe. Copernicus died on May 24, 1543. ….. also, La Voisin ‘The Satanic High Priestess’ during the reign of Louis XIV made her confession on this date in 1680 of sacrificing over 2500 babies in the name of Satan. She did this, she claimed, with the help of Louis XIV’s mistress, Madamme de Montespan, and a 67 year old libertine priest named the Abbé Guiborg. ……. And Brad Steiger, which is pseudonym of Eugene E. Olson, was born on this date in Bode, Iowa in 1936. He is the author, or coauthor of over a hundred and fifty books with such titles as Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, Haunted Places, The Source: A Journey through the Unexplained, Strangers from the Skies, Project Bluebook, The Rainbow Conspiracy and UFO Odyssey. ….. and I should mention that Grady Louis McMurtry, the future head of the Ordo Templi Orientis,  found himself caught up in the spirit of American patriotism and he joined the United States Army on this date in 1941. However, there is every indication that his ‘patriotic decision to join’ came with a draft notice saying that he had to report for duty. This notice probably arrived while he was still in college and it effected his decision to quit just twelve days before he had to report; but of the impetus, it seems he went willingly. He was sent to boot camp, or basic training, at Ft. Riley in Kansas. ……. And Ivan T. Sanderson died on this date in 1973 of cancer at the age of 62. In his early career Sanderson was a nature writer but soon became an enthusiastic Fortean author; devoting the majority of all his later books and articles to mysterious phenomena of all kinds from strange monsters, sea serpents to Bigfoot. Some of his most notable books were Univited Visitors (1967), Things (1967), More Things (1969), Invisible Residents (1970) and Investigating the Unexplained (1972). ….... but of all the things that I can mention of happening on Febuary 19th  my favorite is the fact that Ozzy Osbourne was arrested on this date in 1982 in San Antonio, Texas while wearing a dress and pissing on the Alamo.

Monday February 18th 2008 – 7:00am Mercury will finally go direct tonight around 7:00pm. It’s really whacked a lot of local friends this time around, or since January 28th. Also, my correspondence has fallen off by over fifty-percent, mail, emails etc have been slow and errors in communication and with orders have been in abundance. I would have fired some of my help but they work for free. Yes, the Mercury-like imp-God has been snickering! More often than not I’ve watched people stick their foot down their throat so far that their leg sticks out their ass offering an appearance of standing semi-erect. I predict that over the next few weeks many people will be doing damage control. The strong will smile, laugh and simply apologize for offending their friends; the weak will dig in, in order to defend their fragile ego and the rest of the world will simply move on! The next critical Mercury Retrograde will occur on May 26th and continue until June 19th.  It shouldn’t hit as bad as this one because the planet alignments will be different.

6:35am For the history buffs: The planet Pluto was discovered on this date in 1930. I mention this only as an inside joke in honor of the late Phyllis Seckler. ….. also, the cartoonist Gahan Wilson was born on this date in Evanston, Illinois also in 1930. He admits to being heavily influence by the artist Chas Adams, of The Adam’s Family fame, and by weird, haunting fantasy tales by H. P. Lovecraft. Gahan Wilson’s work first appeared in Amazing Stories in 1954, but he became nationally known through art in slick magazines including Colliers, Playboy, and later The New Yorker.
