Monday March 17th 2008 – 9:15pm My dear sweet Luna just read my blog and where I wrote, "I meant well" she replies, "J 93! imp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ossible...paso roble ridiculously impishly deliciously silly! 93 )O(."  .... Reply: You think that is silly you should see what I'm wearing right now! 

8:20pm Dave, who sent me the ad at 4:10pm, sent me another email. He writes, "Good to the Last DROP! Yep! It is so wrong on so many levels. It funnier now that you posted it on your BLOG! You are a sick man Jerry Cornelius." ....... Reply: I meant well.  

5:00pm Carol writes, "Did you get my email. I'm up in Berkeley this week, visiting friends and I wanna stop in. You wouldn't happen to have any of that toothpaste?" ..... Reply: Yes, I got your email but no, I don't have that particular brand of toothpaste but will you settle for a substitute?  :)

4:10pm Dave, of Oakland, forwarded me this ad and somehow I agree with him, it just seems wrong. No?

10:33am This is to let all my readers know that CORNELIA No.17 is hot off the press and in my greedy little hands. 7:40am Good morning everyone. Next month, the day before we celebrate The Writing of The Book of the Law, or on April 4th, it will be our ‘First Anniversary’ of starting up this blog!  Yes, it’s been only one year! What fun we’ve had from the heights of spiritual talk and salvation to the depth of sexual depravity and degenerate babbling! Is nothing sacred? NO!  … and today I noticed that we broke 29,000 hits! We have that magickal number of 11 days until the 4th and I wonder – “Can we break the 30,000 mark!”

7:30am For the history buffs: Eileen  J. Garrett, medium, psychic, author and founder of the Parapsychology Foundation, was born on this date in Beauparc, County Meath, Ireland in 1893. Both her parents committed suicide shortly after her birth. Her aunt and uncle adopted her and raised her. Psychic experiences always seemed to be part of her life. When she was very young she saw her favorite aunt, who lived about twenty miles away, walking up the path carrying a baby. As the aunt approached, she said to young Eileen, “I am going away now and I must take the baby with me.” Eileen quickly ran into the house to relate this to her adoptive aunt, who immediately punished her for making up a lie. The following day she learned that her aunt had died in childbirth, along with the baby. This strange introduction to death had a serious impact upon young Eileen. She asked many questions but received no answers,  least of all from her aunt. Distraught and in reaction to what she felt was an undeserved punishment, she drowned some ducklings which her aunt loved. She recalls, “The little dead bodies were quiet, but a strange movement was occurring all about them. A gray, smoke-like substance rose up from each small form. This nebulous, fluid stuff wove and curled as it rose in winding spiral curves, and I saw it take new shape as it moved out and away from the quiet forms.” Thus, at a young age, she became aware that there was more to life than the physical form, and that this ‘more’ separated itself from the body, at the time of death. In time Eileen Garrett left England and moved to America. During her life she gained much notoriety as a famous medium. She originally developed her PSI abilities under the spiritual guidance of James Hewat McKenzie while attending the British College of Psychic Science (1924-1928). She also participated in the experiments conducted by Dr. J. B. Rhine at Duke University (1932-1938) and has worked with such psychic researchers as Dr. Herewood Carrington and Nandor Fodor, to name only a few. She died on September 15th 1970 after a long bout of bone cancer. ….. also, of interest, on March 17, 1948 the author William Gibson was born in Conway, South Carolina. He wrote the classic book titled Neuromancer which has defined the cyberpunk genre as well as spawning a computer subculture. It is no secret that Gibson's conception of cyberspace and the global electronic matrix linking the world's databases was a powerful influence on researchers working on the development of 3D computer environments. His short story titled Johnny Mnemonic was made into a movie in 1995 staring Keanu Reeves.

Sunday March 16th 2008 – 9:00am For the history buffs: It was on March 16, 1244 that 200 Cathar ‘Perfects’ were burned to the stake after they had surrendered their castle fortress at Montesegur in France rather than ‘giving up their faith’. ……. Also, Rudolf John Gorsleben was born on this date in 1883. He belonged to such groups as The Guido von List Society, Thule and The Edda Society in Germany and is most famous for his classic work on Rune Magic published in 1930 which had been called by many “The Bible of Armanism,” and rightfully so. ……. But more important about March 16th is the fact that on this date in 1904 that Aleister Crowley recited an invocation in order to enable his wife, Rose Kelly to see the Sylphs, the elemental spirits of water.  Rose saw nothing, but got into a curious dream state in which she kept repeating “They are waiting for you!” And the rest is history! ……. Also of note about this date : the physicist and author Richard Alan Miller was born on this date in Everett, Washington in 1944. He is the author of the classic drug volume titled The Magical & Ritual Use of Drugs which was originally published by Aleister Crowley’s OTO in Seattle Washington and later by Destiny Books in New York, 1983. ….. also, Judith Darlene Hampton was born on this date in Roswell, New Mexico in 1946. Although she started her career as the quintessential New Age channeler, in 1977, this blonde housewife and mother was visited by a 35,000-year-old Lemurian God named Ramtha. From this date on she has become known as ‘J. Z. Knight.’ She later established what she calls the American Gnostic School in Yelms, Washington. Here she exerts total control over her followers and it is said, nobody questions her right, or rather the right of Ramtha, the ancient spirit whom channels, to define a creed or a doctrine. Her New Age audience has thus become Ramtha’s School of Ancient Wisdom, a quasi-religious movement. She wrote the book The Mystery of Birth and Death: Redefining the Self Channeled by JZ Knight from Ramtha. Who is Ramtha? He is supposedly a 35,000 year old Lemurian God.

Saturday March 15th 2008 – 7:50am For the history buffs: For days Bridget Cleary lay in poor health until her husband, Michael Cleary, and a number of her neighbors and relatives became convinced that she was a fairy changeling, if not a witch. To cure her, they tortured her to death on this date in 1894 by holding her over a huge fire in order to drive out the evil spirits. In an enthusiastic fit her husband set fire to her nightgown by throwing an oil lamp on her. He claimed, to make the fire burn more fiercely. He was reported as screaming, “She’s not my wife, you’ll soon see her go up the chimney.” …… and I should point out that Jimmy Swaggart was Born on this date in Ferriday, Louisiana in 1935 but he grew up in a small town near Natchez where his uncle had established the Assemblies of God church. Both of his parents were evangelists and his grandmother, who constantly studied the Bible, was with a nine-year-old Swaggart at a prayer meeting when he felt the call to the ministry. Religious, or not, young Jimmy enjoyed playing the piano and singing with his cousin Jerry Lee Lewis, one of rock and roll’s early legendary stars and this thirst for music would never leave him. Inevitably, Jimmy became a street preacher on the sidewalks of his hometown where he enjoyed leading a congregation in singing. He became a full-time preacher in 1958, and in the early 1960s he began to record gospel albums that gained him exposure on Christian radio stations. He soon developed a substantial following at revival meetings throughout the south and, in 1969; Jimmy Swaggart launched his own radio program called ‘The Camp Meeting Hour,’ which eventually was aired over hundreds of stations. In 1987 Jimmy Swaggart was instrumental in publicizing the scandal that brought about the downfall of rival television preachers Jim and Tammy Bakker. But God rewards the good and punishes the sinners. Especially in Jimmy Swaggart’s case, where he was subsequently caught up in an incident involving prostitutes. ……. And finally I’d like to mention that after Howard Phillip Lovecraft married Sonia Greene, they lived briefly in Brooklyn, New York. Following their divorce, Lovecraft returned to Providence to live with his aunts where shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with cancer of the intestine and malnutrition. Toward the end he lived in constant pain until his death, in poverty and obscurity, which occurred on this date; or on March 15, 1937. He was only 46.

Friday March 14th 2008 – 5:10pm Carol writes: " ... only 1%? I'd throw the bum out and look for a new boyfriend! He suppose to be a provider, no?"

3:30pm My friend Dave sent me this note : "The only thing that the IRS has not taxed yet is the male penis. This is due to the fact that 69% of the time it is hanging around unemployed, 10% of the time it is hard up, 20% of the time it is pissed off, and 1% of the time it is in the hole. On top of that, it has two dependents and they are both nuts!"

9:45am Luna read the goat story from yesterday and writes: “J 93! Is it just me? The Goat Wife's name was Rose?  I use a term called "Fools Lightening" ... When something really really stupid happens to someone. Usually it is when a rare gem of stupidity comes into a politician. Maybe even that guy who was driving the gasoline truck and melted the freeway overpass last year.... and this goat story sounds oddly suspicious of being Fools Lightening. I can just see a group of disincarnate souls standing over this "goat wife" situation and laughing, making bets on it, and laughing and laughing and elbowing each other saying 'and let's see if we can make the guy name his goat wife 'Rose'!!!!!!  BAD GHOSTS ... BAD GHOSTS They sound like some of the evilest ghosts in the astral world! Either that or a deleted scene from the film "Little Nicky". 93s )O(.”

5:45am For history buffs: Algernon Blackwood was born on this date in Kent, England in 1869. As a young man, he lived in New York and later on settled in Switzerland. He is known for his writings about ghost and supernatural fiction, of whom Lovecraft wrote: “He is the one absolute and unquestioned master of weird atmosphere.” His powerful story The Willows, which effectively describes another dimension impinging upon our own, was reckoned by Lovecraft to be not only “foremost of all,” but the best “weird tale” of all time. Blackwood was a prolific fantasy and horror writer whose total production consists of more than 200 short stories, 12 novels, a couple of plays, an autobiography and even some poetry. He died on December 10, 1951. ……. He is considered one of the most brilliant minds in history, Albert Einstein was born on this date in Ulm, Germany in 1879. What few people know is that Einstein had a great sense of humor. In fact, when an interviewer once asked him to explain his ‘Theory of Relativity’ in terms a lay person could understand, he replied: “When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute.  But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute -- and it’s longer than any hour. That’s relativity.” He died quietly in his sleep at Princeton Hospital in New Jersey on April 18, 1955, after a long and brilliant career in which his name became synonymous with genius. Like Aleister Crowley, Einstein acknowledged the importance of combining scientific and religious methods. Where Crowley wrote the profound statement: “The method of Science, the Aim of Religion,” Einstein in 1934 offered this observation: “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” ……. It was on March 14, 1904 that Aleister Crowley rented a flat in Cairo. He had arrived in Egypt, according to The Egyptian Gazette newspaper of Thursday February 11th 1904, as “Lord and Lady Baleskine.” ……. It was on March 14, 1946 that the German occultist, General Karl Haushofer, killed his wife and then committed ‘hari kari.’ After a very successful military career in World War I he became professor of geography at Munich. Among his earliest students was none other than Rudolf Hess, who later introduced Haushofer to Adolf Hitler. Historians are quick to point out that Haushofer’s influence on Hitler is evident as seen in Mein Kampf.

Thursday March 13th 2008 – 9:00pm Carol writes, "Jer 93 Ugly girls are Mopeds? Isn't that a small scooter? :/ Luv 93s Carol." .... Reply: She's refering to something I wrote in my 4:30pm posting. Anyway, a Moped is this ugly little thing that you can ride but no 'real' man wants to get caught in public with it.

4:45pm Evelyn from Belgium writes, I "saw this story on the BBC News website and thought you should see it." ... http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/2/hi/africa/6619983.stm ... It is a story which is titled 'Sudan's famous goat 'wife' dies' ... it seems the goat, named Rose, choked "on a plastic bag she swallowed" ... oh! so sad! Tell me it ain't so! I will light a candle tonight and hug my 'pet' [wink wink] sheep named Molly.

4:30pm Jerri from Sacramento writes, "I am laughing about the Sudanese man...some men will screw just about anything won't they! The other day, a male friend and I were discussing the proper technique for screwing fruit! Yes, fruit. I was explaining to him the protocol, as I heard it about 15 years ago from another creative and lonely friend of mine...apparently you hollow out a cantaloupe, as melons work the best, and microwave it for about 10 seconds, and then...!!!" ....... Reply: I'm not going to ask you why you were talking about fruit sex but yes, men will screw anything! It's a redeeming quality we have. That's how ugly girls (aka Mopeds) can get laid! ... anyway, thank you Jerri, I'll never be able to eat a cantaloupe again! ... and please don't ask me why I can't look a cute loaf of warm Italian bread in the face!  :) 

3:45pm John writes, "Being married before I can simply say ... the goat probably didn't bitch and moan all the time and most likely let the guy go out with his friends for drinks." ....... Reply: Ouch. Kinda bitter, no?  

3:25pm Carol writes, "A goat? You guys will stick it in anything and then come up with a magickal formula why it's OK. Right?" ....... Reply: OK.

12:30pm Mari, a cute little Japanese thing, writes, “Dear Gerry I forgot telling you. You said On Mar 11th, Romeo & Juliet married, right? I found that my parents married on Mar 11th!, too! Interesting. Actually, I have been to Verona and visited Juliet house. We were told, if we touch Juliet's breast on the statue, we can have a happy marriage. Of course, I did (^.-)-* Good night! Love, Mari.”  ….. I replied to her: now I know where I’ve been going wrong with my past marriages. I must have touched the wrong breast, it wasn’t found on a statue and her name wasn’t Juliet.   :/   In truth, it’s kinda hard to find a Juliet breast here in America and I guess I was just looking for a substitute.

11:20am Here is a News item dated yesterday that I enjoyed. The headlines read "SUDAN MAN MARRIES A GOAT' by Iva Skoch  and it read: "This is an important security announcement for all of you, who plan on a) visiting Sudan b) engaging in sexual relations with farm animals, or c) both. Stay away from goats in Sudan! ... Let this story serve as a lesson to you. A man from Sudan has been forced to take a goat as his wife after he was caught having sex with the animal, BBC reports. The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders and they ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.  ... The intercourse happened the night before Valentine's day (awww) and as far as anyone knows, they are still together. The newlyweds are registered at Pottery Barn (they should be, at least.)." 

10:30am I normally keep my kitchen window wide open for fresh air. This morning after I took my heart and blood pressure pills etc out of their bottles, one by one, I put them into my convenient black tray and I went into the living room to fetch my glass of water. Upon returning I found a Blue Jay had flown in the window and was standing over the tray. I quickly chased him away and took count. I was missing two pills; my aspirin tablet and my small Hydrochlorothiazide pill. Obviously the Jay had eaten them. I hope these don’t have any obverse affects on him?

7:00am For the history buffs: Lafayette Ron Hubbard, the hack science fiction writer and pop psychologist and founder of Scientology was born on this date in 1911 in Tilden, Nebraska to the naval commander Harry Ross Hubbard and Ledora May Hubbard. Years later, L. Ron Hubbard’s son, upon leaving his father’s ‘church’ would say, “What a lot of people don’t realize is that Scientology is black magic that is just spread over a long period of time. Black magic is the inner core of Scientology – and it is probably the only part of Scientology that really works.” As if to mimic his son’s thoughts, while Hubbard was alive, he was quoted as saying “Someday, I’m going to do something that will make P. T. Barnum look like a piker.” He died on January 24, 1986 while in hiding in California. According to a devoted follower who knew Hubbard well - “he was a mixture of Adolf Hitler, Charlie Chaplin, and Baron Munchhausen. In short, he was a con man.” …….. also, Alma Hirsig the sister of Crowley’s Scarlet Woman Leah Hirsig, more commonly known as Mrs. Marian Dockerill, published her expose on Aleister Crowley’s cult, Oom the Ominpotent and others in a series of articles which began running on this date in 1926 in the New York Journal, titled My Life in a Love Cult, A Warning to All Young Girls.

7:30am For the history buffs: Albert Gallatin Mackey was born on this date in 1807. He compiled A Lexicon of Freemasonry (1845) and many other books on Freemasonry, most notably his Encyclopedia of Freemasonry. Some consider him to be one of the greatest writers on the subject of Freemasonry. He died on June 20, 1881. ……. And for the white-lighters, Stewart Edward White, the famous psychic researcher, was born on this date in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1873. His experience in the occult began in March of 1918 at a party with friends who were playing the Ouija board merely for fun when, all of a sudden, it began spelling out ‘Betty’ over and over again. It wouldn’t stop until Stewart’s wife Betty began to play, by placing her hands on the pointer. The Ouija then spelt out many messages, including the advice for her to try ‘automatic writing.’ For almost a year both she and her husband experimented with automatic writing, receiving a number of simple messages but inevitably Betty was led to a method in which she entered a higher state of consciousness, speaking in her own voice or “the voice of other entities,” all of whom always refused to identify themselves. The White’s continued these sessions with ‘the Invisibles’ from 1919 to 1936. Afterwards they published their first book outlining their adventures in learning about and entering the higher spiritual world. The book is The Betty Book: Excursions into the World of Other-Consciousness Made by Betty between 1919 and 1936 (1937). It was the beginning of The Betty Book craze, which is still pursued even to this day amongst New Agers. Stewart Edward White later became president of the American Society for Psychical Research in San Francisco.

10:25am Carol writes, "What is the 'secret' significance to 42 ... tell me, tell me!" .... [Note: see today's entry for the 'history buffs'] Reply: I edited out the part of her email which graphically adds 4+2=6 and of her interpretation of 'six inches references' but, besides that, I have a huge private dictionary of English Qabalistic numbers, words and phrases that I've been keeping since the early seventies. If you add all the numbers between 1 and 42 together you'll get 903. I don't have much that can help you understand the 'Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything' but Number 902 is the numerical value of my real name : GERALD EDWARD CORNELIUS when it is written out in full. ... Plus 9-3=6!    :)-

6:10am For the history buffs: It was on this date in 1302 that Romeo married Juliet. ……. Also, the German occultist Eugen Grosche was born on this date in 1888. On May 5th 1926 Grosche, known also as Frater Gregorius and four others formed an occult organization known as the Fraternitas Saturni. In the same year he released his infamous book titled Satanistische Magie (Satanic Magic) in which he boldly linked together Satan, the Virgin Mary, and the Barbelo-Gnostics. He died on January 6, 1964  ……. And the writer Douglas Adams was born on this date in 1952. He is most famous as the author who solved the 'Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything' which he published in his now classic book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. For those too lazy to read it - the answer is very simple; it’s 42. He died of a heart attack on May 11, 2001. ……. And finally, it was on March 11, 1995 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, the Chupacabra, or “goat Sucker,” killed eight sheep which were all found with three strange marks or puncture holes in the chest and were described as “completely drained of blood.” By August the Chupacabra was blamed for the death of over 150 animals throughout Puerto Rico.

10:00am I called my doctor; chatted awhile about my most recent fainting spell. He asked how I was feeling now. I said, “Just Fine, as if nothing had happened at all” He also asked if I wanted to come in, or thought it necessary, I replied, “Not really.” He then reminded me that I know what the ‘triggers’ are and there is not much else that can be done right now. “You are in control,” he said. I just need to remember that a simple act like picking up a box, walking fast or jumping around, which to everyone else is effortless, can be devastating to me if there are a bunch of other stress related issues accumulating in my life at the time. It’s like dominos. It takes just one to start teetering and they all fall over. His fear was that if there is too much stress, I may not necessarily just faint but rather it can lead to another heart attack. … and regardless if all the meds that I take daily are making me feel great, I must remember that I can not drop my guard down and think I’m healthy. … I also want to thank everyone for the energy sent and received and let everyone know I’m doing OK. If the doctor is not 100% concerned, neither am I. ... It was just another wake-up call or reminder that my old ticker ain’t twenty years old anymore … for now I just need to rest for a few days and take it easy.

Sunday March 9th 2008 - I had a bad scare yesterday. I wasn’t feeling all that great, hadn’t been since I woke up, lots of stress lately but I decided to walk downtown anyway with Faustus, to meet up with Ben and Tristan at the Jupiter restaurant. While there I had large cup of coffee. On the way back across campus I felt kinda odd but brushed it off. Then, while skipping around near the streams with the boys, I took one step too many; got lighted headed, it seemed like my eyes rolled back into my head and I totally black out. My whole left side just said ‘no’, left leg gave out, left arm hurt like mad and all I remember was hitting the stream; totally disoriented. The next thing I knew Ben was there grabbing me and helping me up. Luckily, with all the rocks around, I missed them all, otherwise fainting could have been a lot worse. I did bust open my lip, cracked my forehead and got a few scraps in the fall but I guess it could have been worse. Oddly, just like my last two black-outs, my heart didn’t seem to hurt that bad but my left arm remained numb for awhile. Kinda scary, I just rested, took it easy for about fifteen minutes and as before, it seemed to pass, sort of. Ben took my son with him and Tristan back to his apartment so I could quietly rest awhile at my place. I guess fainting is my old ticker and blocked arteries' way of reminding me, even if you're feeling fairly good, don't do stupid things like thinking you're still a kid and that you can run around with the pack and do as they do! This dog is getting old. ... If I don't answer a lot of your email for the next few days, have mercy on me. I need to rest and take it easy. Thanks.

Saturday March 8th 2008 – 11:00am My friend Dave from Oakland saw the picture in the upper left [the one of me in the First Grade 1957] and writes, "You were so cute as a kid! It's amazing what a few years can do!" ..... Reply: Yes, a few years along with a lot of sex, drugs and rock n' roll; two of which I've had to slow down with due to age.  :)

7:00am In way John I agree with you that “the AA system as set up by Aleister Crowley is brilliant”; myself and the head of Double-Wanded One Clerk House went all the way through that system step by step, sphere by sphere, up the Tree under Grady McMurtry, to Magister Templi, so it must work. However, it would be extremely dangerous to think that something devised a hundred years ago is so perfect that no change should ever be undertaken. This type of thinking led way in 1875 for the Director of the U. S. Patent Office in Washington D.C. to resign citing that the world was perfect and there “was nothing left to invent.” Remember, members of the AA must act like scientists. We must constantly be aware of our surroundings and how the Aeonic currents are unconsciously affecting society so that we can offer humanity more building blocks. The world did not stop in 1907 when Crowley established the AA. In a ‘magickal sense’ it has moved way beyond that system which is based in a stuffy Victorian mentality of hierarchy and spoon feeding. I don’t know if Crowley consciously realized it or not but his rebellion against that very structure which annoyed him in school, college and in the Golden Dawn led him to create an identical system. The bottom line is that success is your proof. If a system works it should be guiding humanity forward with relevant ideas and philosophy but if it produces nothing in the outer world put republishing the same old books from ages back, I’d be suspect of it’s leaders acting as Aeonic vehicles rather than just a group of people who can give you a good shell game on Malkuth or the horizontal plane. Remember, even Crowley himself stated that it was the responsibility of all leaders of the AA to publish 'their' ideas and works. He didn't say that if you can't write anything, just publish my works. That's like a professor telling a college student, "Sorry you can't come up with Thesis, just use mine and its OK." ... The AA in a nutshell: YOU LEARN, YOU TEACH, IF YOU CAN’T TEACH, YOU'VE OBVIOUSLY LEARN NOTHING.

6:15am For the history buffs: It was on this date in 1989 that Aidan Breac died. He was born in 1897 and raised in a hereditary Craft family on an island off the northwest coast of Scotland. He was descended from the Carnonacae tribe of Picts who lived in the northwest of what is now Ross and Cromarty County. For the last thirty years of his life, Aidan devoted his time to teaching the Pecti Witan tradition which is presumed to be an old hereditary Scottish tradition that first came to the attention of the general public when it was mentioned by Raymond Buckland in his book Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft. Pecti Wita is said to be different from other forms of Wicca, in that it is a solitary tradition. It doesn’t practice circle consecration, or group workings or the formalized rituals found in most other Wiccan traditions. The basic tools of the Pecti Witan is the dirk and staff, and rather than casting a circle, he or she simply “centers” themselves.

Reply: hummmm, I don't see any difference between that and what I had?

6:45am For the history buffs: Thomas Aquinas, Catholic Church’s foremost philosopher and theologian  who was born in 1225 at the Castle of Roccasecca, near Aquino, Italy, died on this date at the Cistercian monastery of Fossanova on his way to Lyons in 1274. He openly refuted the Canon Episcopi which often put him at odds with the Church. The Canon, or Capitulatum Episcopi had been known for hundreds of years but it wasn’t until about 906 that Regino of Prum, Abbot of Treves formally attributed it to the Council of in Ancyra (314 ce). Finally, in the 13th century, it became official and accepted Doctrine of the Church. It’s doctrine became fuel for the witchcraft trails. Needless to say the Canon created about as many problems as it solved since it defined “witchcraft as Devil-worship but declared it to be nothing more than a foolish delusion.” The Church twisted this by stating that witcheries are delusions and illusions caused by the Devil, therefore anyone who believes in such delusions is considered a Devil’s child.  In his Summa Theologica, Thomas Aquinas imparted this piece of Christian wisdom: “Good can exist without evil, whereas evil cannot exist without good.” …..... and it was on March 7, 1881 that the unbelievably rich William Winchester died. He was the founder of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in New Haven, Connecticut. As a result of his death his wife, Sarah Lockwood (Pardee) Winchester, inherited well over $20 million dollars which was an incredible sum in those days. She also received 48.9 percent of the company at an income of about $1000 per day, which was not taxable until 1913. A short time later, being distraught at the deaths of her husband, a friend suggested that she should speak to a Spiritualist. During the séance the medium told her, “Your husband is here.” She then provided a description of William Winchester which convince Mrs. Winchester that it was him. The medium then continued, “He says for me to tell you that there is a curse on your family, which took the life of he and your child. It will soon take you too. It is a curse that has resulted from the terrible weapon created by the Winchester family. Thousands of persons have died because of it and their spirits are now seeking vengeance.” Believing to be guided by the hand of her dead husband Mrs Winchester started traveling and didn’t stop until she reached the Santa Clara Valley in California in 1884. She then bought a six room home and, to appease the spirits, she began building the house larger and larger, without ceasing construction on the building until she died at the age of 85 on September 5, 1922. The end result was a bizarre 160-room building now termed the ‘Winchester Mystery House.’ ……. And I should mention that the poet W. B. Yeats joined the Isis-Urania Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn on this date in 1890. He is known as Frater Daemon Est Deus Inversus. It is a fact, Aleister Crowley and Yeats never got along. When a friend once wrote to Crowley about Yeats’ poetry, he quickly fired back, “You write of Yeats as ‘a poet in search of a pedigree’ * but who told you he was a poet? Read ME!” ……. And finally, on March 7, 1952 Paramahansa Yogananda died from a massive heart attack while attending a banquet in Los Angeles. He was born into a devout and well-to-do Bengali family as Mukunda Lal Ghosh. He lay in state for over twenty days and, according to a signed and notarized statement from the director of Forest Lawn Memorial Park, “no physical disintegration was visited upon his body…it was apparently in a phenomenal state of immutability.”

Thursday March 6th 2008 – Luna sent me an email letting me know that Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman's Day. And remember this motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideway, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO what a ride!' ....... 5:30am For the history buffs: Aleister Crowley’s Scarlet Woman, Frau Bertha ‘Billie’ Busch, was born on this date in Zurich in 1895, a half-past eleven at night. She once stabbed Crowley with a knife. ……. And it was on this date in 1933 that Laurie Cabot was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She is the founder of both the ‘Cabot Science Tradition of Witchcraft’ and the ‘Witches League for Public Awareness (WLPA)’. In 1977, she received the title of ‘the Official Witch of Salem’ by the then governor of Massachusetts Michael Dukakis. He bestowed upon her the ‘Paul Revere’ citation which is given to citizens for their public service and, in her case it reads: “I proclaim Laurie Cabot the Official Witch of Salem for her work with children of special needs.”  She is the author of such book as Practical Magic: A Salem Witch’s Handbook (1986), The Power of the Witch (1990), Love Magic (1992), Celebrate the Earth (1994) and The Witch in Every Woman (1997) ……. Also of interest; the science fiction and horror writer H. P. Lovecraft wrote a letter on this date in 1935 to his friend Emil Petaja which stated, “In the 1890’s the fashionable decadents liked to pretend that they belonged to all sorts of diabolic Black Mass cults, & possessed all sorts of frightful occult information. The only specimen of this group still active is the rather over-advertised Aleister Crowley … who, by the way, is undoubtedly the original of the villainous character in H. R. Wakefield’s He Cometh & He Passeth by.” It is the only reported place where Lovecraft ever mentions the name ‘Aleister Crowley.’ ……. And Jack Parsons sent Aleister Crowley a rather cryptic ‘circular letter’ dated March 6, 1946 claiming “I hardly know how to tell you, or how much to write. I am under the command of extreme secrecy.” He continued by informing Crowley that he had “the most important and devastating experience” of his entire life between February 28th and March 4th. He was referring of course to parts of his Babalon Workings. He goes on to tell Crowley, “I have been in direct touch with One, who is most Holy and Beautiful, mentioned in The Book of the Law.” He further informed Crowley that he couldn’t tell him her name because it is secret. But there “was a desire for incarnation. I was the agency chosen to assist the birth, which is now accomplished. I do not yet know the vehicle, but it will come to me, bringing a secret sign I know.” Luckily he decided that it was best not to send Crowley all the information, keeping out the Fourth Chapter to Liber AL vel Legis. Many believe that this was one of his wisest decisions. Later that evening, at the monthly Agape Lodge Meeting, Jack Parsons told everyone that he was stepping down as the Lodge Master. A special notice was given to this effect stating that Brother Roy Leffingwell “would henceforth act as executive head of Agape Lodge.”

5:45am For the history buffs: It was in 1887 that the local doctor advised an immediate operation for cancer of the tongue and Plymouth Brethren from near and far were summoned to help discover the Lord’s will in this matter. They decided that the operation should be declined and thus Edward Crowley, Plymouth Brethren preacher and father of Aleister Crowley, died on this date. …..... also, Pyotr Demianovich Ouspensky was born on this date in 1878 in Moscow, Russia. He died on October 2, 1947. In 1909, his first book, The Fourth Dimension, placed him at the age of thirty-one in the front rank of important writers on abstract mathematical theory. His second book, Tertium Organum, written in 1912 created a sensation in America. In 1915, P. D. Ouspensky, one of the most prominent thinkers of the 20th century, met G. I. Gurdjieff, who revealed to him the system of ideas that he had been searching for in his studies and travels. After establishing himself in England and later in the USA, he devoted his life to teaching the ideas now known as The Fourth Way. Ouspensky  became a major contributor to twentieth century ideas and throughout his life he continued to promote Gurdjieff’s system. ……. And of interest; the movie Nasferatu, a German silent film about vampires was originally released on this date in 1922. …….. Carlos Allende died on this date in 1994. He was the mystery man behind exposing the Philadelphia Experiment. It began in 1955 when Morris K. Jessup wrote a book entitled The Case for the UFO and embarked on a tour to promote it. Fascinated by the motive abilities of flying saucers, Jessup urged his lecture audiences to encourage their legislators to fund programs for research into antigravity and Einstein’s Unified Field Theory (UFT). The object: “to establish effective and economical space travel.” Then, on January 13, 1956, Jessup received a letter from a man named Carlos Miguel Allende who scolded Jessup for suggesting that the US should continue research into UFT. Allende claimed that in October 1943 the United States navy had used Einstein’s theories in an experiment that not only rendered a destroyer totally invisible but also caused it to be teleported from the Philadelphia dock to the Norfolk-Newport News-Portsmouth area and back again in a matter of minutes. Supposedly the experiment succeeded but it left side effects so horrendous that the navy shut down the project immediately until it could figure out the problems. Because of the intense force field used in the experiment, many of the crew members continued to lapse into invisibility or ‘limbo,’ while others went completely mad.

Tuesday March 4th 2008 – 8:45pm Jay writes, “I've meant to ask you for awhile, but do you know any good books that discuss the elements? It's easy enough to find information about the elements in relation to the suits of the tarot, brief discussions about the elements in reference to astrological signs, rituals, etc. If you have any recommendations, it would be much appreciated.” …… Reply: Any book about Comte de Gabalis and his theories but in particular one called Comte de Gabalis which was published in 1670 in Paris. This book details elemental theory; as well as later OTO and it explains how true adepts abandons “human intercourse” and instead opt to have only intercourse with the spirits of the air, water, earth and fire and he claims that many children have come forth as a result of such encounters. Ah, the Homunculus! Anyway, I have Xeroxes of this book; I’ll lend it to you so you can make a copy. I’d also recommend a few books by Eliphas Levi; in particular Transcendental Magic. Besides a lot of white-light crappy books, elemental theory as a whole is scattered throughout many books; a tidbit here and a tidbit there.

8:00pm Evelyn writes, “93, Hello Jerry, Hope all is well. On 24th February, you included this passage at the end of a reply to a student's question: "... how do you tell a psychiatrist about incarnated Abramelin demons who are running around as people? Don Juan is right (Castaneda, Journey to Ixtlan). A lot of people you see running around are not people, they are ‘forces’ (Castaneda’s language),demons, elementals, something, but certainly not people." [quote by Grady Louis McMurtry]” Can you expand on this statement? What was the basis for, or experiences that Grady McMurtry had which led him to state the above? Best wishes, Evelyn” …...Reply: I wrote about it fairly in-depth in Vol.II of my biography on Grady titled In The Name of the Beast; Chptr 24 titled Chockmah.  Grady had previously sworn the ‘Oath of the Abyss’ which is one of the most dreaded and dangerous of all magickal ordeals. Read Crowley on the 10th Aethyr in The Vision & The Voice for details on how you must ‘control’ the Demon or all is lost. Anyway, this ordeal often drives a magician to the brink of madness as one’s sanity teeters on a razor’s edge and during this period Grady even tried to commit suicide. Consider this quote from Grady’s bio – “Grady’s torment, in some ways, was being fueled by a similar experience mentioned by one of don Juan’s associates named don Genaro in Journey to Ixtlan. In don Genaro’s quest to return home - a metaphor for his life, its beginnings and his purpose on Earth - he had come to the great realization that some of the people whom he met along the road were not real and often they were merely ‘forces’ to help or distract him from his path. His journey forward to find his past stopped and, in the end, don Genaro understood that he could never journey back to his home, which was in Ixtlan. As a sorcerer he now stood ‘between the worlds’ of the past and the future with the ability to ‘see’ rather than merely looking at reality. He had, in effect, ‘stopped the world.’” …. In the end, Grady clearly states “that the best explanation of what has happened to me is given in that book (Castaneda, Journey to Ixtlan) in the business about encountering [the] ally” and "what happens if you have the unfortunate accident to encounter one before you are ready" which implies you’ve not learned to control the Demon. I have talked about these 'forces' throughout my blog that are in play to distract the magician on his path .... but I refer to them in light of the Holy Grail, as the Kundry. ... Anyway, during the ordeal of the Abyss the magician debates his life; what is real and what is not. His mind focuses on the world (i.e. his Life) below the Abyss which is bathed in the duality of good and evil, of Angels and Demons, of forces in play which have either helped him, or hindered him during the course of his incarnation. He sees people who are unconsciously driven by their Angel to do goodness while others he sees are following their Demon. We have both you know? Modern magicians tend to ignore this little fact in The Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage. They like to think we have only an Angel but who do they think whispers is their ears of 'Wants' which are Malkuthian distractions. In the end the magician learns that nothing is real 'to him' that has manifested. It all fades away with time; he can take nothing with him after he dies and for now, it's merely part of his experience in his incarnation to either guide him toward fulfilling his True Will or distract him with Earthly Wants. ... So Evelyn, I ask "Are you 'real' to me or simply part of my interactive game which I'm playing that is called 'my' Divine Comedy?"  And you reply, "Get out of my game, it is I who am real!"  Now do you see the root of madness taking the Oath of the Abyss? 
5:00am For the history buffs: It all began on April 7, 1962 at Westminster College at Fulton, Missouri after Tim Zell and Lance Christie read Heinlein’s Stranger in a Strange Land. Afterwards they ‘shared water’ and formed a water-brotherhood called  ‘Atl.’ During the mid-1960s their group was centered on the University of Oklahoma campus under the name Atlan Foundation. They published a periodical, titled The Atlan Torch, between 1962-1968. Following a move to St. Louis 1968 the ‘Church of All Worlds’ (CAW) was born and became incorporated on this date; or March 4, 1968. This was the first Wiccan church to do so in the United States. The mission of the Church of All Worlds was to evolve a network of information, mythology and experience that provides a context and stimulus for re-awakening Gaia, and re-uniting her children through tribal community dedicated to responsible stewardship and evolving consciousness. In the same month they released the first issue of Green Egg. The Church of All Worlds took much of its inspiration from Robert Heinlein’s science fiction classic Stranger in a Strange Land. In this novel a human being named Valentine Michael Smith, who was born on Mars and raised by Martians, returned to Earth in 2519. He established the Church of All Worlds, built around ‘nests’, a combination of congregations and intentional communities. A basic concept was ‘grokking’, i.e., the ability to be fully empathic. Heinlein’s CAW emphasized non-possessive love and joyous expression of sexuality as divine union. Their greeting was ‘Thou art God’ or ‘Thou art Goddess’, recognition of  immanent divinity in each person. The basic theology of the CAW is a pantheism focused on immanent rather than transcendent divinity, which is worshiped in female as well as a male form.

Monday March 3rd 2008 – 5:45pm Miguel wrote to me today, after reviewing his astrology chart. He said, “I’m still trying to get my head around astrology” but there are “three symbols on my Koch house chart have eluded me thus far.” … [Note: We use the Koch house system to formulate charts in our AA, not Placidus, which is flawed] … The first symbiol that he mentions is the “Circle with X in it” …… Reply: This refers to your ‘Lot of Fortune.’ You might want to review In Quest of the Holy Guardian Angel in CORNELIA No.1 which quoted the first gift given to us by the Gods. According to Plato in The Myth of Er, our Soul was allowed to leisurely preview ‘Lots’, or ‘samples of lives.’  As for most astrologers, they have little idea of what to do with this symbol and most simply refer to it as an abstract “karmic’ force. In truth ‘Fortune’ and ‘Fate’ are terms often interchangeable in ancient Greek. In The Myth of Er Plato informs us that after our Soul had chosen its new life it is then sent to the white-robed Lachesis. She is the first of three Moirae or Fates who control our ‘Thread of Life.’ It is she who shows each Soul the guardian spirits; one of which is chosen to be the Soul’s personal guardian and the “fulfiller of the choice.” This guardian spirit then leads the Soul to the second Fate, or Klotho who spins the web and ratifies the life that had been chosen. Finally the Soul is brought before Atropos, the final Fate. It is she who ‘seals’ our Life’s calling, making it absolutely and irreversible. … There are only three particular aspects in an astrology chart which combine mathematically to formulate the Part of Fortune; they are our Sun, our Moon and our Rising Sign; or more symbolically Lachesis (Sun), Klotho (Moon) and Atropos (Rising Sign). … Modern astrology has a tendency to regard the Part of Fortune as a ‘minor point’ in a person’s chart, but this was not the case with ancient astrology; it dictated the forces in play in which our Soul picked for its incarnation. As an example: my Part of Fortune is in Leo in the Fifth House; which really dictates my ‘incarnation’ in general; or if I had to sum up the Sun, Moon & ascendant in one lump.
Miguel then asked about the second symbol or “the Px looking thing.” ….. Reply: This refers to an apparent retrograde motion of a planet in your astrology chart at the time of your birth. We tend to think that all our natal planet’s energies are always directed toward outward expression at birth but rarely do astrologers examine what it implies when the planet is retrograde which means that part of the energy is directed inward, away from the world. Such qualities often give us a deeper sensitivity in regards to the planet and the house in which it falls.
And finally he asks about the “small k over an oval” in his chart. ….. Reply: This refers to planetoids or asteroids which orbit your Sun between Mars and Jupiter. Most astrologers find it difficult to interpret these and simply ignore them. There are four prominent asteroids  in the belt: Ceres, Vesta, Pallas Athene and Juno.

4:15am For the history buffs: Arthur Lllewellyn Jones-Machen was born in Caerleon, Monmouthshire England on this date in 1863. Arthur Edward Waite invited him to join the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn but Machen never became all that closely involved in the activities of the group. He was more focused on developing his own brand of mystical Celtic Christianity. H. P. Lovecraft counted him as one of the four “modern masters” of supernatural horror, along with Algernon Blackwood, Lord Dunsany, and M. R. James. Lovecraft would later write, “Of living creators of cosmic fear raised to its most artistic pitch, few if any can hope to equal the versatile Arthur Machen.” ……. Sonia Greene and H. P. Lovecraft were married on this date in 1924. Sonia confided to a friend, that Lovecraft, who had foresightingly read some books on sex, could indeed perform and was sexually adequate.

Sunday March 2nd 2008 – 11:00am John writes, “Sorry I missed you last night. I totally forgot you had switched the meetings from Friday to Saturday. Good crowd?” …… Reply: No biggy. It was actually just me and Jay last night. We sat around till a little after eleven talking about magic, philosophy and history. My gatherings have never meant to be about ‘quantity’ of people but simply one ‘designated night’ where students and friends can gather; discuss magic etc. In a way, more people often convolute the evening’s talk where if there are only a few people I can really get down to a personal one on one talk. I can teach what a student really needs rather than an over-view with a crowd.

11:15am Carol writes, and as I read it I simply gave out a sigh, “Jer 93. OK, no more talks about your penis. I liked your Book of Lies stuff today. It made me think. Will you give me some personal insight on Chapter 15 The Gun-Barrel? Lov ya 93s Carol.” …… Reply: Relentless and focused is this girl; with only one thing on her mind! I love it!  [I sent her a private email.]

8:30am A student asked a serious question about Aleister Crowley's The Book of Lies regarding why the first page simply has a huge '?' on it and the second page has a '!' and the third page then "really befuddles" him, and he asks, "... care to give me a hint on what Crowley is talking about as to how the tree fits on this page?" ..... Actually, it's quite simple and he is very clear in his commentary about this. First; there are three ‘Great Veils’ beyond Kether; which is the first sphere or Crown on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. The farthest or first veil is referred to as Ain (negative), the second is Ain Soph (negative without limit or infinity) and then there is Ain Soph Aur (light without limit, infinite light) which is closest to Kether ... all three veils are unmanifested. Crowley identifies the page with just a huge question mark [?] as being 'Ain' as 'nothing'; the second page with the huge explanation mark [!] refers to Ain Soph or 'nothing becomes.' The next chapter refers to Ain Soph Aur, or 'Nothing is not.'  Keep in mind that the third, or chapter listed below refers to the child yet born or Tree of Life unmanifested as the Seed.  Below is a colored cheat sheet. Maybe it will help you to understand this chapter better. Contemplate on it.

6:10am For the history buffs: on this date in 1244 the Castle of Montesegur, which was the Cathar stronghold in the green valleys of Ariege in France, surrendered after a ten month siege. Some of the defenders were spared but the ‘Perfect’ heretics, well over 200, who refused to denounce their beliefs, were burnt at the stake. ……. And also on this date, Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield, MA in 1904. He is more famously known as Dr. Seuss. One of his infamously ‘created’ words, which is now used widely by everyone, first appeared in his 1950 book titled If I Ran the Zoo. In this book his character utters, “I’ll sail to Ka-Troo And Bring Back an It-Kutch a Preep and a Proo a Nerkle a Nerd and a Seersucker, too!” This is the origin of the word ‘Nerd.’ Seuss died on September 24, 1991. ……. And on this date in 1908 the List Society was officially founded in Vienna. It became a mixture of well-known figures throughout Austria and Germany who were attracted to the distinctive blend of nationalism and occultism propounded by this strange, pagan mystic named Guido von List. ……. And Curtis Fuller was born on this date in Necedah, Wisconsin in 1912. He was once the owner of FATE magazine which he had purchased from Ray Palmer in 1955. ……. And one of my favorite movies opened in theaters on March 2, 1933 - King Kong! It had a simply plot; an expedition goes to a tropical island where they discover a gigantic gorilla who inevitably takes a monkey-love kinda shine to a tiny little female blonde whom the expedition had brought along. ……. Also, on March 2, 1954, while vacationing in Mexico with his second wife Harriet, Paul Foster Case, the founder of the Los Angeles occult school known as the Builders of the Adytum (B.O.T.A.), died. ……. And finally, on March 2, 1955, the cult leader of the group known as ‘Aum’, Chizuo Matsumoto, was born in Kumamoto, Japan. He later changed his name to Shoko Asahara. His religious followers were responsible of the Sarin nerve gas attack on the Tokyo tube network which killed twelve people and injured thousands in March of 1995. Years later, broke and in need of money, the cults new leader, Fumihiro Joyu, began selling ‘pats on the head’ for a mere $12,500 dollars which supposedly transferred his “sacred energy” to the recipient. They call it the “Shakty Pat.” This might sound outrageous but this was the same group which use to sell Asahara’s bath water to raise money. However, jokes now fly that either Asahara is no longer taking baths in prison, or the authorities are simply not letting his used water to be shipped out.

An added piece of history: On March 2, 1943 the author Peter Straub was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout the winter months of 1979/80 there were many discussions circling around Aleister Crowley’s OTO in regards to Peter Straub’s novel Ghost Story. Many believed that the author had improperly used the name of the Ordo Templi Orientis. The novel made mention of an evil organization and one of the characters claimed that the group “envisioned Satanism, covens; California lunacy at its worst” and when they were asked, “What is the name of the order?” The reply came back, “O.T.O.” This evil Order was also referred to as the “raw material for nightmares.” Amongst the numerous other tainted comments in the novel it also mentioned that the OTO had “a minor connection with the Manson family.” During this period in time the Order was trying to become legitimate and it strongly felt that any negative references, especially having a tenuous connection to Charles Manson, needed to be addressed and forcibly, if necessary. The OTO Board Meeting on January 27th 1980 passed Resolution No.105 that allowed the Order to retain a lawyer to sue the author for libel. To make a long story short, letters went back and forth between lawyers and Peter Straub decided to settle out of court. Future editions of his book would simply use the name XXX rather than OTO. Straub also sent a check for $20,000 in his letter of apology dated April 10th 1981. The letter briefly stated, “The first edition of my novel Ghost Story made certain references to the Ordo Templi Orientis. These references were factually incorrect. In subsequent editions of the book the name of the organization referred to has been altered. If my error caused any distress to members of the Ordo Templi Orientis, I humbly apologize to them.” It was signed, “Sincerely yours, Peter Straub.”

Saturday March 1st 2008 10:20am Here is a quote from Aleister Crowley in a letter to Grady Louis McMurtry dated August 18th 1943. - "The system of the Book of the Law is aristocratic; I am an aristocrat. A better word for democracy is ochlocracy - the rule of the mob. It all depends whether you want quantity or quality. Are you going to produce sonnets or Sunday newspapers?"

9:45am I want to reminded people that beginning today we will hold the first new Open House at my apartment. Most people in the past thought seven was kinda late if traveling from a distance and so we decided to start at six tonight. 5:25am For the history buffs: The Isis-Urania Temple of The Golden Dawn was officially ‘Chartered’ on this date in 1888. Later, Arthur Edward Waite would unexpectedly take charge of this Temple and refuse to have any “truck” with the Secret Chiefs whether in or out of the body. ….... and I should also mention that it was on this date in 1925 that Henry Anthony Wilcox brought Professor Angell a strange clay figure in hopes that he might identify the hieroglyphics on the base. He begins a rambling tale with gibberish words of little meaning; like Cthulhu and R’lyeh. ……. And finally, on March 1, 1934 Charles W. Leadbeater, the ex-Anglican minister who turned Buddhist and was a clairvoyant and Theosophist, died.
