Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. - AL I:40

Thursday June 5th 2008 – 8:30am Last weekend I was able
to get to my storage unit across town and retrieve some of
my stuff. One thing that I brought back to my apartment
was the oldest surviving oil painting in my collection. It was
begun in 1974 while I was still living with my first wife. After
the divorce most of my stuff remained in storage at my
mother's house until late 1975. In 1976 I once again took up
brush in hand and I completed the 18x24 oil painting to the
right. On the back it states 'MY DAIMON' ... and like many
of my early paintings, nothing was predetermined as much as
simply being "images painted flowing from my mind" [this is
a scribbled note on the back of the painting] and because of
such, after years of not seeing this painting, I'm now noticing
many symbols relating to my 'future' studies on the Tree of
Life and Qabalah; some of the images back then being
conscious while other parts painted were simply a flow from
the depths of my processing mind vomiting onto canvas. I see
the Sun in the upper right (Tiphereth-6), underneath is the
Moon (Yesed-9) and below is Earth (Malkuth-10). Malkuth, being my 'body', has my daimon directly behind as if guiding my thoughts. Off to the left side is the Left-Hand Pillar on the Tree. In retrospect, it is a treasure-trove of my early unconscious mind in quest of self discover. Sadly, the above doesn't show all the details nor does it reproduce the colors all that great but I thought I'd share this image with my readers just the same.

6:15am For the history buffs: On this date, as asserted by some authorities, the lost continent of Atlantis sank beneath The Atlantic ocean. As to how historians figured this date out is a mystery. ……. And finally, John Ballou Newbrough was born on this date on a Springfield, Ohio farm in 1828. He went to California during the Gold Rush of 1849, but returned to New York and practiced dentistry. He became involved in spiritualism and probably had his first psychic experience in the 1850s. He was a trustee of the First Society of Spiritualists of New York City. As a self proclaimed clairvoyant, he practiced automatic writing. His greatest achievement began on the morning of January 1, 1881. This automatic writing session, using a typewriter, began at 4am. As Newbrough would later tell a friend: “To my amazement as I sat in the chair, my hands went up and started to pound at the keys. It seemed to me that I was half asleep, but I saw everything I was doing. I saw no spirits, but I knew they were using my body and thought. I looked at my hands and fingers; they were going like mad. Then it occurred to me that it was fantastic.” He continued with these sessions every single morning until December 15, 1881. The final result was a manuscript that was over nine hundred pages long which some have hailed as the new Bible. It is called Oasphe. It was first published in 1885. Newbrough died in 1891.

Wednesday June 4th 2008 – 12:30pm I have been an avid
Crowleyite since the late sixties. I have a massive library and it
is hard to slip things past me which I have not heard about but
every now and then I am taken back by something new and
fascinating on the subject. I was blow away by Frater Shiva’s
book titled Inside the Solar Lodge, Outside The Law (2007), I
was utterly absorbed in Richard T. Cole’s Thelema Revisited,
In search of Aleister Crowley (2007). Now comes a  new title
out of Feral House by Richard B. Spence titled Secret Agent
666, Aleister Crowley, British Intelligence and the Occult
(2008). ... The ad on Feral House's webpage states "The
founding father of modern occultism, the 'Great Beast' Aleister
Crowley, has been the subject of several biographies, some
painting him as a misunderstood genius, others as a manipulative
charlatan. None has looked seriously at his career as an agent
of British Intelligence. Using intelligence documents from British,
American, French, and Italian archives, Secret Agent 666 reveals that Crowley played a major role in the sinking of the Lusitania, a plot to overthrow the government of Spain, and the 1941 flight of Rudolf Hess. Verification of the Great Beast’s participation in the twentieth century’s most astounding government plots will likely blow the minds of history buffs and occult aficionados alike." ... For the historians this book is a must. I am about a third way through it and so far I’m enjoying it a lot; which means that this old Crowley historian is actually learning a thing or two which he never knew!

10:24am A friend just sent me this joke:

Question: What's the difference between a woman having her period
and a terrorist?
Answer: You can negotiate with a terrorist.

8:00am Marlene sent me an update about the passing of James Garvey. She writes, “Several months ago Br. Jim had some back pain that turned out to be cancer which had already metastasized to some of his major organs. He had some kemo, but was too weak to continue with the treatment. He spent his last days in Ithica, NY near family in hospice care.” ……. Reply: Thanks for the update. He was a real nice guy, he'll be missed.

6:35am I received this email from my friend David J. Hohl in San Francisco, the Director at Hohlographic Productions, LLC. He writes, “93! Greetings to the Thelemic community worldwide! I was excited when Jerry Cornelius asked me to put something together for his blog regarding In Search of Lovecraft.  I feel the movie will be of interest to you all for two main reasons.  One being that most occult students are fans of H.P. Lovecraft and secondly, we included a complete thelemic ritual, unedited within the feature.  As far as I know, this is a first for a horror movie!  Also hidden throughout are various symbolic “inside gems” which you, being knowledgeable in the occult, may find.  The average viewer will be in the dark, but you may find a couple of my hidden treasures. ….. How it got started:  In Search of Lovecraft (ISOL) had it’s genesis in a script idea I got while watching a war movie called 84 Charlie Mopic about twelve years ago.  It was an original movie shot in the POV of an army cameraman. Actually, if you watch this movie and Blair Witch, you’ll see they probably saw the same thing. The second factor was my love of Lovecraft stories and an interest in occult subjects.  Over the last few years I learned of a subculture in the Magick world that believes that Lovecraft was a prophet and pulled truth from the Akashic record (a primal place where all knowledge exists) through his dreams. In other words, the Mythos he created was real! One such society is the E.’.O.’.D.’. named after Lovecraft’s  Esoteric Order of Dagon. The current incarnation is led by a Frater Obed Marsh of Oregon. The EOD has some informal connections with Kenneth Grant I believe. My idea was to take this idea and create a story where the news reporter doing a Halloween piece on the real Lovecraft soon falls into this world where reality and fiction are blurred. She discovers the Mythos is true and she and her crew are marked for death because of their new found knowledge. … The movie is thus filmed with a mix of reality and fiction, cutting between camera POV, normal third person filming, and old, scratchy film footage found by our heros.  The lost footage from the 1930’s helps piece together the modern day events of the cult and creatures that hunt our protagonists.  We also had an occult expert to supervise a complete and unedited, authentic magick ritual conducted by Scream Queen Rachael Robbins. As far as I know, this is the first time a complete, real ritual was put to film. … Cast and Production:  We were really lucky to get such a great cast and crew.  Even working 20 hours per day (no joke!) for 10 straight days and a 3 day weekend, we didn’t lose one member to mutiny. Yes, that’s right, 13 days!  The most challenging part of filming was all the major San Francisco landmarks we shot at which required extensive organization, permits, and crowd control.  At one point we shot on the corner of Market and Castro during Halloween with a crowd of 300,000 people - the busiest location in the city on the busiest day of the year. It was very exciting though and fortunately we wrapped before knife attacks closed down the parade.  Another highlight was the shooting of a complicated effects shot in a park that required police supervision.  We were supposed to wrap by 10pm and ended up getting out at 3am.  The next morning the city called me to complain about police overtime which we “happily” paid. … Rachael Robbins played a 400 year old “witch”, Keja, who helped the other characters battle the Mythos creatures.  She was a joy to work with and very professional, not to mention sexy!  Renee Sweet played Rebecca Marsh, our news reporter who discovered the truth behind Lovecraft. Her cameraman Mike was manifested by actor Tytus Bergstrom (former U.S. Latin dance champion) who did a bang up job.  Saqib Mausoof, and Denise Amrikhas adeptly played occultist D’Souza and news intern Amber Martin respectively. Back in the 1930’s our British Investigators were creatively portrayed by Cameron Weston and Sue Ramsey.  The movie seems to be a hit with test audiences and many mention their favorite parts are the old 1930’s footage of the cult investigators. … The project culminated in the on-line editing and post production at ZAP-Zoetrope in San Francisco who also helped create the old, damaged 16mm film look on the ancient footage.  Our outstanding composer Troy Sterling Nies (Call of Cthulhu) finished off the project with an incredible, haunting score. And of course, we had a reliable occult expert supervising the rituals, tarot, and other occult subjects.  Of course it is just a movie, but sometime I wonder if we accidentally released something during that climactic ritual!  www.insearchoflovecraft.com" ....  Reply: I am drooling, keep us posted on release dates, when, where and all the etcs as to where we can finally get to see it!

6:07am I haven’t been able to verify it yet but it has reached my door that my old friend and fellow OTO Initiate from New York, James Garvey, passed away during the night. If anyone has any information out there, please pass it along. Thanks.

5:50am For the history buffs: It was on this date in 1604 that the magician John Dee petitioned the King to have himself tried for sorcery, hoping to clear his name. …...…. And Aleister Crowley began writing The Diary of a Drug Fiend on this date in 1922. ...….. and it was on June 4, 1982 that the movie Poltergeist opened in theaters and is a film about a haunted suburban tract home in a development built over a grave-yard. It contains all the childlike fears of monsters under the bed, in the closet, along with other things that go bump in the night. At first, some of the odd happenings in the house are simply amusing, but they gradually become creepier until the film climaxes in a terrifying special-effects extravaganza when 5-year-old Carole Anne is kidnapped by ghosts and held hostage in another dimension. …...... Finally, on June 4, 1996, late in the evening in Cornwall, England, a woman saw what she first thought to be a sack floating “at twice rooftop height.” On closer examination she realized that it was a five-foot tall man dressed in dark ‘Victorian’ clothing which was flapping in the wind. A dog followed the mysterious figure briefly before it vanished from sight. What she actually saw, compared to what she reported to the police, is anyone’s guess.

Tuesday June 3rd 2008 – 5:40pm I almost forgot to mention that today is the birthday of one of my old friends who is an infamous if not an archaic old Bezerkeleyite named Cranny! He was born in Rhode Island on this date back in 1941. [see http://cornelius93.com/Photos-TelegraphAve3.html for photo]. It is said that he is (and I quote) the "finest Silver-Smith to materialize to Telegraph Ave in the last thirty years." So much so, that he is an Icon to the area, and his face has been memorialized in a huge Mural in a deli here on Telegraph Ave. His uniquely creative style of hand-forged gold and silver earrings delight all that patronize his artistry. He's also a fun story teller, a joy to just hang around with and chat, so if you find yourself on Telergraph Avenue stop by his display and say "Jerry sent me."

11:20am Our beloved Vice President of the United States Dick Cheney talking Monday at the National Press Club about his own family joked  - “So we had Cheneys on both sides of the family — and we don’t even live in West Virginia,” adding “You can say these things when you’re not running for re-election.”  ... Ah, let's hear it for the old inbreeding jokes! There is hope for this guy! Did you know he's an Aquarius?

11:00am The all time greatest occult movie SIMON, KING OF THE WITCHES is finally being released on DVD on June 24th. This is a rarely-seen 1971 film directed by Bruce Kessler and starring Andrew Prime. It is technically not a horror film as the title might suggest. It falls much more in the realm of campy psychedelia hippie movie
with Prine playing a cynical warlock named Simon Sinestrari
who is on a quest to become a god through sex magick.
Simon lives in a sewer, selling his charms and potions for
money, when he is befriended by a young male prostitute
named Turk (actor George Paulsin). Turk introduces Simon
to his world of drugs, wild parties, and hysterical Wiccan
rituals featuring a goat and the Andy Warhol star Ultra
Violet. Death and mayhem ensue, along with romance
for Simon with the district attorney's daughter (played by
Brenda Scott). Whether the film's ending is a happy
one remains subjective, but the journey, the script,
the characters, and Andrew Prine's performance make this
a 70's gem not to be missed. What sets Simon, King of
the Witches apart from the legion of occult genre films of
the late 60's and early 70's is the script, which is far more
literate and versed in the esoteric than the norm, both
offering new twists to and poking fun at the clichés of the
genre. The character of Simon Sinestrari was reputedly
based on the real life public persona of a ceremonial magician and occut author named Poke Runyon (OTA) who is a well-known figure in the souther Californian Neo-Pagan scene at that time. Runyon himself acknowldges the likeness, and has said that the only major inaccuracy is that he "never lived in a sewer.” It is about time that this occult classic was put on DVD!  I can't wait to buy it! (http://www.fangoria.com/dvd_review.php?id=6599)

6:20am For the history buffs: Phyllis Seckler took the AA degree of Probationer 0=0 under Jane Wolfe (Soror Estai) on this date in 1940, assuming the magical motto Tenax Propositi, she later took the name Meral. She rose up into the degrees whereby she attain the knowledge and conversation of her Angel. Karl Germer acknowledged the attainment of her HGA in a letter to her dated July of 1952. He wrote, Phyllis you have “risen to or above Tiphereth where the voice of the Secret Chiefs is gradually taking over and begins to speak to your soul.”  ……. And I should point out that R. Swinburne Clymer died on this date in 1966. He had founded the Fraternitas Rosæ Crucis (FRC) in Quakertown, PA in 1912, which he claimed was a movement originally started by Pascal Beverly Randolph in 1856. Clymer devoted quite a bit of effort and work to attack Dr. H. S. Lewis of AMORC, whom he evidently regarded as an enemy and fraud.

Monday June 2nd 2008 – 5:00pm Carol asks, “I read your 6:30am posting yesterday ... how do you determine the titles for your diaries?” ….. Reply: Good question. Each title is always 100% reflective of my mood in general at the beginning and I look at each ‘new’ diary as the latest phase of my life or a new incarnation. Some titles are easy to figure out where my birth was going while others you can scratch your head and simply mutter, "He's mad!" I always name a diary within the first week and some are short, less than fifty pags while many others are over a hundred or so pages. Inevitably, I look at the name and when it no longer reflects the direction of thought at the beginning, I kill it and reincarnate! New diary time!

2:15pm Women!  You can't live with them.....can't deep fry 'em.

4:30am For the history buffs: No one knows the exact date of her birth, or death of Ursula Sontheil. She lived some 500 years ago in the times of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth and was known as a famous seer and has become the patron saint of women working in laundries. People celebrated her on this date. She was born in 1488 in a riverside cave, near the river Nid, at Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, England. At the time of her birth a summer storm raged outside the cave which was a few feet from the ancient ‘Petrifying Well’ which, according to legend, had the power to turn objects into stone as if by magic. At the age of twenty-four she married Toby Shipton, a carpenter and this is how she became known as ‘Mother Shipton,’ although she never had any children. She inevitably became England’s most famous Prophetess. She foretold the invasion and defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588; and Samuel Pepys’ diary grimly records that Mother Shipton gave forewarning of the Great Fire of London in 1666. Today her prophecies still prove uncannily accurate. She died in 1561. ……. And how can we forget the Marquis de Sade? He was born on this date in 1740 as Donatien Alphonse François comte de Sade, into privileged French nobility in Paris, France. He was an extremely spoiled child who grew up on various country estates. This included an ancient castle with its dank and torturous dungeon; a playground which no doubt played a factor in his developing psyche. In adulthood he became one of the most controversial figures in world literature. His name has been cursed, while his genius praised. His imaginative works, which are very sexually extreme in nature, are meant for adults. About his perversions he once wrote, “I have imagined everything conceivable in this sort of thing, but I have certainly not done, and certainly never will, all that I have imagined.” He wrote such infamous works as Philosophy in the Bedroom, 120 Days of Sodom and Justine and Juliette. He died on December 2, 1814. …...… and it was on June 2, 1743 that Count Alessandro di Cagliostro, or Joseph Balsamo, said to be one of the greatest figures in occult, was born in Palermo Sicily. In 1789 he was arrested while in Rome after his own wife had publicly denounced him to the Inquisition as a vile heretic, a magician, a conjuror and, even worse, a Freemason. He was sentenced to death, but this was later commuted to life imprisonment in the fortress of San Leo in the Apennines, where he died August 26, 1795 under mysterious circumstances. According to one rumor, his body was discovered in a cell ‘strangled’ to death. …..…. And to continue on with the ‘flavor’ of birthdays; it was on June 2, 1939 that Dr. Tony Agpaoa, ‘The Psychic Surgeon of the Philippines’ was born. Many believed him to be a ‘quack’ who drove around in a gold-plated Mercedes while seemingly performing surgical services by plunging his hands into the body in order to remove cysts and to drain infected areas, all done by sleight-of-hand. In 1968 when Agpaoa visited Detroit to perform ‘surgery’ he was arrested and charged with medical fraud. Choosing not to prove his ability, he skipped his $25,000 bail and fled back to the Philippines. He died on January 23, 1982 and was interred in a glass coffin. ……... And finally, I’d like to mention that it was on June 2, 1973 that four men rowed out into Loch Ness; two of them were F. W. Holiday the future author of The Dragon and the Disc (1973), another was the Reverend Donald Omand who wanted to perform an exorcism on ‘Nessie’ … but some are quick to point out that the monster has been seen since, so the ritual obviously didn’t work. However, the ritual was never meant to stop the creature from appearing. It was performed because the Reverend had somehow become convinced that Nessie had ‘attracted an evil force unto itself.’ Hummmm, was Nessie possessed? Did someone witness her head spinning and her spitting green pea soup and doing foul things with a cross?  Poor Nessie, no respect.

Sunday June 1st 2008 – 4:00pm Good Sir Carl, a Pisces, from the muddy land of Illinois wrote me an email on Thursday asking, "I noticed you mentioned you're working on writing something about Astrology: Is that going to be more Cornelia material or a stand-alone book?  Either way I'm definitely looking forward to it with my trademark mixture of extreme patience and childlike gleeful enthusiasm. You've got me hooked on Astrology as only a Pisces can be (yuk yuk yuk; that may have been my worst joke ever. But I loved it!) Anyway; hope that you're doing very well and I have been enjoying the Blog as always!" ..... Reply: I am doing semi-well thanks. Pisces jokes! Aughhhh! :) As for my astrology thingy, I was hoping to release it as an actual book but who knows in the end what it shall be! It is too far down the road to think about too seriously right now but thanks for asking.

3:00pm Kathleen asks, “I've heard her name mentioned a few times. How does Dorthy Olsen fit into Crowley’s life, who is she?” ….. Reply: Throughout September of 1924, after fleeing Italy, Leah Hirsig and Aleister Crowley were slowly drifting apart. On the Fall Equinox, September 21st, she sent a letter to Crowley stating, "I hereby renounce the title of Scarlet Woman and pass it on to the Scarlet Concubine of your desire." Upon receiving her letter Crowley wasted no time in appointing a new Scarlet Woman. He conferred the title on an American woman named Dorothy Olsen who became known as Sister Astrid. Shortly afterwards they headed for Tunis, leaving Leah to roam the streets of Paris. Crowley's alcoholic relationship with Dorothy Olsen was like a roller coaster with its continual ups and downs right from the start, a pattern that was typical with every relationship he embarked upon. Shortly after their visit to Weida, Germany Crowley decided that he had to be free of Dorothy whose drunken dementia had finally gotten the best of him. They kept in touch for awhile, as Crowley did with many of his Scarlet Women but it was not long before she was replaced by a woman named Margaret Binetti. Dorthy Olsen simply drifted away. Although we do know, according to Crowley, that on October 8th 1926 "Astrid blew out of the South" and that she appeared for a few days of wild sex, followed by an entry dated Oct.12th stating "Astrid blew out to the West" which meant that Dorthy Olsen left him and headed back to America. He never saw her again. In regards to Leah and Norman Mudd, they remained in Germany for a few years. Eventually Leah Hirsig bitterly renounced both Mudd and magick and returned to America where she resumed her vocation as a school teacher in New York where she died in 1951.

7:45am While going through my diaries I found a great story about my son Faustus (aka Pook) that I entered on December 7th 2000. I wrote - “Tonight, while standing in the doorway between the kitchen and parlor, Pook wanted to get by. He yelled rather loudly behind my back, "Move out of the way fat boy!" I was rather shocked! I had to explain to him how he should ask politely etc & etc and how it hurts people's feelings by calling them names but within, I found it kinda funny.”  ... My son was not quite four years old yet but already he was a true Cornelius at heart! [sniffle sniffle]

6:30am I had a student email me requesting info on how long a magickal diary should be. In truth, I cannot answer this and I replied that if you have to ask then obviously you don’t understand nor know why you are keeping such. I’ve been keeping diaries since January 1st 1966. It was in August of 1995 that I began keeping them on my computer instead of using my old typewriter. My very first computer diary is No.1 and I called it ‘OF NEW BEGINNINGS.’ The diary I just finished is No.93 titled ‘AMUSING TIMES.’ … Some of the other titles over the years have been - HOME IS WHERE THE CROWLEY BOOKS ARE!, ... or TORTURED BY WAY OF NEW COMPUTER, ... or TWO SCOOPS OF CRAZY IN EVERY BOX OF BREAKFAST CEREAL, ... or LIFE IS TOO SHORT NOT TO WEAR A PARTY HAT ... and my personal favorite - STAINED PANTIES LEFT BEHIND ON THE ZEN SUBWAY OF MY LIFE! … Anyway, the total number of computer pages registering for my diaries from No.1-93 is a whopping 8,267 pages! Yes, I type too much! But they’ll be amusing to read some day! So you asked, “What is a good length of a magickal diary” and I can only reply – “I’m the wrong person to ask!”

5:15am For the history buffs: The Witchcraft Act, which was signed in March of 1563, took effect on this date in England in the same year.  ……. And Brigham Young was born the ninth of eleven children on this date in Whitingham, Vermont, into a poor Vermont farming family in 1801. When the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith was murdered by an anti-Mormon mob in 1844 Young was on the East Coast. On his return, he played a critical role in keeping the savagely persecuted church together by organizing the exodus that would inevitably take the Mormons westward, first to their Winter Quarters, Nebraska, in 1846, and finally on to Utah’s Salt Lake Valley, in 1847. It was here that Young’s leadership was confirmed and he was named president and prophet of the church, inheriting the authority of Joseph Smith. Brigham Young died on August 29, 1877. ….…. And speaking of birthdays, Norma Jeane Mortenson, more commonly known as the actress Marilyn Monroe, was born on this date in Los Angeles, California in 1926. She was described by Anton LaVey, the founder of the First Church of Satan, as a “willing, but not very imaginative sex partner.” However, history has shown that Anton LaVey and Marilyn Monroe, although they might have known each other, were never lovers and that his comment was merely ‘wishful thinking’. However, about relationships, Marilyn Monroe once candidly commented, “Before marriage, a girl has to make love to a man to hold him. After marriage, she has to hold him to make love to him.” No words of wisdom were ever spoken more true. Tragically Marilyn Monroe died on August 5, 1962 of an overdose of sleeping pills at the tender age of 35. ……... And it was on June 1, 1927 that Lizzie Andrew Borden died after a long illness, at the age of 66. She had been born in Fall River, Massachusetts, the youngest daughter of the prominent Andrew Jackson Borden and Sarah ‘Abby’ Morse. In August of 1892 her father’s body was discovered in the sitting room, lying on his back on the sofa, both legs hanging over the front. He had suffered over forty whacks of an axe and his face was unrecognizable. Abby’s body was discovered upstairs in her sewing room; she, like Andrew, had been beaten to death with an axe. On August 12 Lizzie Borden was arrested for the murders of her parents but at trial she was found not guilty. Although, to this day, she is still the prime suspect. …..…. And David ‘The Son of Sam’ Berkowitz was illegitimately born on this date in 1953 as David Falco, in Brooklyn, New York. He went on a vicious murder spree staring in the summer of 1976 in New York. In January of 1977 he sent a letter to the chief detective Capt. Joseph Borelli stating, “I am the Monster - Beelzebub - the chubby behemouth [sic]. I love to hunt. Prowling the streets looking for fair game - tasty meat. The women of Queens are prettyist of all.”  ..……. And I’d like to point our also that Luisa Casati died on this date in 1957 at the age of seventy-six. Following a requiem mass which was held at Brompton Oratory, she was interred in Brompton Cemetery. One of her cherished taxidermed Pekinese dogs was placed resting at her feet. Her tomb was inscribed with a fitting quote from Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. - “Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety.” Her house was often the setting for some of the most shocking and scandalous parties. It is said that she had nude servants gilded in gold leaf to attend to her needs, and that wax mannequins sat in chairs as guests at her dining table. She dressed outrageously, wearing live snakes as jewelry, and was infamous for her nocturnal strolls through Venice’s Piazza San Marco, naked beneath her furs, while parading cheetahs on diamond-studded leashes. She once even accessorized an evening costume with chicken blood. She also traveled throughout Europe letting numerous artists paint and sculpt her. She influenced playwrights and film makers, poets praised her strange beauty, and fashion designers fought for her patronage. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg of her behavior. Like Aleister Crowley whom she knew, Casati was also into the occult. It was said that Crowley and Casati had two of the biggest egos in Europe and that neither of them ever got along. In fact, once at a cocktail party, Crowley upon seeing Casati, said in a rather loud voice – “YOU!” – and then walked away. ……. And finally, it was on June 1, 1967 that The Beatles released one of the most influential albums of all time; Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The album cover featured colorful depictions of life-sized cardboard models of famous people on the front of the album cover whom the Beatles idolized in one way or the other and one of the people was none other than the notorious black magician Aleister Crowley.
