Thursday December 31st 2009 – 12:15am Gee, a few of you want to know what I am doing tomorrow night for New Years. Well, for starters, drinking ... but I am also leaning toward simply curling up and watching one of two DVDs which arrived today by mail - while I'm drinking. The first is called YO-YO GIRL COP (2006). This is billed as an over-the-top style movie, part serious, part comedy, intense non-stop action movie based entirely on a Japanese anime from the original Sukeban Deka series detailing the exploits of female special agents operating undercover in a High School wearing hot school girl outfits and using yo-yo's as weapons. Need I say more? ... although my other choice to watch is an intense ghost story called SHIKOKU (1999) whose DVD box states "Some things are better left dead." Although Kuriyama Chiaki, aka Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill, is on the cover of this DVD, her presence as the ‘villain’ in this horror film is said not to be that extensive but that's ok, she looks 'hot'. ... Anyway, I'm not sure which one I'll watch, a ghost story or Kung-Fu High School Yo-Yo Cops but if anyone wants to attend tomorrow's OPEN HOUSE it is mandatory that you must bring a donation of booze. Ben Hance has supplied popcorn. Doors will open at 6:30pm, movie begins around 7:30pm.

10:40am I've spent the morning trying to figure out 2009 so that I can official close it out, put it to rest and plot my course for the next year. In reviewing my diaries all I can say is that this year has been a crazy one; lots of health issues, lots of typing on books and magazines, did quite afew oil paintings, this website also hit the 100,000 plus mark as far as readers and we saw a magickal blunder by a student, had numerous great Friday night Open Houses and did I mention that I partied alot? Anyway, my diaries encompassing this year are probably the smallest total in quite a awhile, or so I remember. They only total 1,042 typed computer pages as of this moment. As for next year ... my goals? ... Survival. ... Although I have thought about finally settling down and looking for a new permanent girlfriend, I fear that it would kinda negate my first goal of 'survival', no?-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you know that the Year of The Tiger begins on February 14th 2010? Its 'keywords' are drama, intensity, change and travel. Unfortunately, world conflicts and disasters tend to occur during Tiger years, so it won’t be a dull twelve months for anyone. The Year of the Tiger is said to bring far reaching changes; new inventions and incredible technological advances have a good chance of occurring in 2010. For all of the Chinese horoscope signs, this year is one to be active – seizing opportunities and making the most of our personal and very individual talents. Everything happens quickly and dramatically in a Tiger year – blink and you could miss an important chance of a lifetime! 6:50am For the history buffs: The Honourable Colonel Thomas Sydney lived at Old Hall, Ranworth, Norfolk, England and it was said that he was a hard-drinking, roisterous huntsman who did not enjoy losing bets. On this date in 1770, being the biggest hunting meet of the season, he challenged a neighbor to a race. Half way through the race, and discovering that he was obviously going to lose, Sydney pulled out his pistol and shot his opponent’s horse which caused the rider to be thrown, breaking his neck and killing him instantly. Since no gun was ever found, no charges were filed but everyone knew who fired the shot and even more damaging to Sydney was that he supposedly disappeared shortly afterwards. That is when the legends began; telling stories of how later that very evening after the race, while Sydney was sitting down at the table for dinner, a tall, thin stranger appeared and at the Old Hall, dragged him outside to a waiting horse, threw him across his saddle and galloped off into the darkness. Now, according to the same legend, every year on the 31st of December, the same scene is repeated as the “ghostly stranger” rides upon Old Hall. ............ also, George Sylvester Viereck was born in Munich Germany on this date in 1884. His family emigrated to New York in 1896. He was the author of many books; Nineveh and Other Poems (1907), Confessions of a Barbarian (1910), The Candle and the Flame (1912), Glimpses of the Great (1930), My Flesh and Blood (1931), The Kaiser on Trial (1937) and The Temptation of Jonathan (1938), to name but a few. In 1912 Viereck established The International, a monthly literary magazine of the avant-garde, as well as conventional, poets and writers. Its office was located at 1123 Broadway in New York City. At the outset of World War I, in August of 1914, Viereck launched a new publication called The Fatherland. The goal of this weekly magazine was to publicize the German point of view in order to counteract the onslaught of propaganda coming out of England and France. Most important, it was trying to promote the idea of American neutrality. Aleister Crowley met Viereck in 1911. He would later work for him at The International and The Fatherland. It also appears that Viereck knew all about Crowley’s “devil worship” but it didn’t bother him. As he put it, “I knew nothing against him. I do not object to devil worship and I think that a man’s personal life is his own. Hence, any rumors against him which may have reached me had no effect.” In Crowley’s 1936 diaries there is a brief entry on Thursday July 30th, “George Sylvester Viereck to lunch. Saturnus, Rudy, & girl Pat. Viereck will sign affidavit that I had no trouble with authorities in U.S.A. He said also that after [the] war he made friends with our N.I. chiefs, who told him that I had been working for them during the War.” Saturnus is Karl Germer. Viereck died at the age of 77 on March 18, 1962 as a result of a massive cerebral hemorrhage. ............ and it was on December 31, 1896 that Aleister Crowley claims that he officially decided to pursue mysticism and occultism. ............ and finally, on December 31, 1922 Rudolf Steiner’s first Goetheanum in Switzerland was burned down by a Nazi arsonist. Goetheanum was an extraordinary wooden building which had gradually been built during the first World War by an international group of volunteers. They all collaborated with local builders and artisans to shape the unique carved forms and structures designed by Steiner himself. It was not Steiner’s intention, however, to build an impressive monument; he thought of architecture as the servant of human life and designed the Goetheanum to support the work of anthroposophy, especially drama and eurhythmy. Wednesday December 30th 2009 – 2:17pm In regards to the 1:40pm posting, I want to add that The Book of Lies discussion was not just trying to teach people about Magickal Theory. It was also to train magicians, as Grady McMurtry once told me - "how to read Crowley" which was "to think correctly." It is a slow process that you must learn, step by step as you climb the Tree. Anyone can 'think' but not everyone can 'think correctly.'

1:40pm Here is a question that I address in an email last week. It dealt with wondering how one climbs the Tree of Life correctly, or what is the secret. I replied that when - "a magician speaks of The Laws we refer to something both in the macrocosm and microcosm. In the macrocosm we learn 'outer' Laws which are external to Self but mimic internal Laws. In the microcosm we learn primarily how to think because 'thinking correctly' awakens the Kundalini." I then quoted Annie Besant, an early President of the Theosophical Society – “Not out of right practice comes right thinking, but out of right thinking comes right practice. It matters enormously what you think. If you think falsely, you will act mistakenly; if you think basely, your conduct will suit your thinking.” ... I added – “This is one of the major reasons why most magicians fail. They build pretty Temples, wear fancy robes, they recite incantation like water and babble Magickal Oaths hoping to evoke greatness but all the practice in the world won’t help you if you’re ‘thinking’ incorrectly; doing what thou 'Want’. We see magicians time and time again falling from the Tree because their ego wants them to rewrite theory to suit their Earthly Wants and sadly, the way they ‘think’ magickal Laws work is often a mere illusion or shadow which inevitably binds them to Malkuth. Basic Tantra teaches us that if an aroused Serpent (i.e. Kundalini) falls back into the Muladhara chakra (Yesod) too quickly it shuts off the Moon fluids from reaching upward via the Pingala and bathes itself solely in its Hidden Sun which exudes a Poison that can do unbelievable damage to a psychic system via the Ida. I know this might seem odd in regards to your question but go back and re-read the entire section regarding the discussions that we did on the Sphere of Hod about The Book of Lies re: the 'Dew' or Moon-fluids of Immortality. ... 5:23am For the history buffs: Simon Forman was born on this date at Qusdham, a small village near Wilton, Wiltshire in 1552. He was an Elizabethan astrology, necromancer and ‘alternative’ medical practitioner in London. Many considered him a quack physician and surgeon, who often spent time in jail for occult practices and prescribing dangerous potions. All this being said, the London people held him in high regard, mainly because he bravely stayed in London during a plague outbreak, and supposedly even cured himself and others of the disease. The extensive records of his life, including his many occult experiments are held in the Bodleian Library in Oxford. Oddly, he prophesied his own death the week before it occurred, or so his wife claimed. On the day of his death, a Thursday September 8, 1611, he keeled over in his boat whilst crossing the Thames saying, “Am impost, an impost” before dying. His death was also documented by another astrologer of that time, William Lilly.It seems Simon Forman had also accurately predicted through the use of astrology the exact moment of his own death and on that ill fated day while rowing down the Thames he fell dead at the oars. ............. also of note; Austin Osman Spare was born on this date in London in 1886. His father was a policeman who often worked the night shift and even though money was in short supply, when the young Spare began to show an unusual propensity for drawing and art, they managed to find enough funds to send him to art school. At the age of seven Spare was befriended by a mysterious old women, a sorceress by the name of Mrs. Patterson, whom it was said could change her appearance from that of an old women to that of a young temptress at will. Spare would later refer to this woman as his second mother, his ‘Witch-mother.’ She taught him how to visualize and evoke spirits and elementals to reify his dream imagery and initiated him into witchcraft during a sabbat meeting and gave him his craft name called ‘Zos.’ He took the oath of a Probationer in Aleister Crowley’s AA in 1909, assuming the magical name “YIHOVEAUM” (‘I AM-Aum’). Crowley came to believe that Spare had become a “Black Brother because of his cultivation of self-love through pleasure.” In the 1950s Spare began working on a definitive Grimoire called the Zos Kia Cultus, which was to contain the accumulation of his magical secrets. Austin Osman Spare died in a hospital in London at the age of 67 on May 15, 1956, his Grimoire left unfinished. ............ and finally, on this date in 1947 Major General L. C. Craigie, Director of Research and Development in the USAF, issued an order establishing Project Sign which was the first official organization to investigate UFOs. It’s purpose was to “collect, collate, evaluate and distribute to interested government agencies and contractors all information concerning sightings and phenomena in the atmosphere which can be construed to be of concern to the national security.”-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday December 29th 2009 – 5:18pm NEWS: The 2,000 plus Sea Lions in San Francisco Bay, who reside just off Pier 39 to the delighted of tourists, have largely ‘disappeared’ in droves beginning the day after Thanksgiving, almost as if someone had issued an order. They left the area practically over night, people thought they'd return but it looks like they are not coming back. But where did they all go? It's a big mystery out here in San Francisco, everybody is talking about it. It has every one perplexed and although some think that they simply left in search of better feeding grounds, no one is really quite sure. Personally, I'd like to point out that the Sea Lions first started to appear by that hundreds right ‘after’ the 1989 Loma Prieta [7.1 magnitude] Earthquake and if animals are as ‘sensitive’ as some scientists believe, maybe they left the area for a reason? They came 'after' the big quake in 89, and maybe, just maybe, they’re leaving because they sense the next big one is about to hit? Watch out for more animal signs like weird bird migrations, howling dogs, pacing horses and Mexicans unconsciously wanting to go home.

Some of my favorite stories are : TEEN GIRL ELECTROCUTED AFTER TWITTERING IN THE TUB – “After her laptop batteries died during a Twitter session, a 17-year-old Romanian girl attempted to plug her computer into the wall. Unfortunately she was in the bath at the time, and paid the ultimate price via electrocution. We're pretty sure the reason this tragic, but otherwise mundane, story received the attention it did is because Twitter is so fun to say.” ... Or how about : WOMAN BITES LOVER’S PENIS OFF IN CAR CRASH – “Everyone knows that the big risk associated with receiving oral sex in the car is that if there happens to be an accident, you are very much in jeopardy of losing your penis. Still, a man in Singapore, who did lose his penis while getting a BJ in an automobile, has the right to feel unlucky. You see, his car was parked in a lot, and the mouth penectomy only occurred after a truck backed into his stationary love mobile.” ... or : BOY KILLED ANALLY WHEN OFFICE CHAIR EXPLODES – “A 14-year-old boy in China was killed when the height-regulating gas cylinder in his office chair blew up and ruptured his anus. It's a brutal story and, frankly, it sounds made up. This has caused at least one feminist activist to declare, "It is an absolute insult to women that this has been invented." We can only imagine she means the insult is the assumption a woman would ever fall for this trick.” ...... 6:20am For the history buff: The castle of Countess Elizabeth Bathory was raided on this date in 1610 and she is arrested for the murders of over 650 people. Legend has it that she was located in the basement hunched over a mangled body of a young girl, while three other young girls were found bound, gagged and chained to the wall. She was said to have jumped up and yelled, “You shall pay for this intrusion,” thinking it was her servants, but instead she heard as a reply, “ … this is not one of your servants, but the Palatine Prince of Hungary who stands before you and has come in the name of the King to bring justice to these accursed walls.” .............. and Albert Pike was born on this date in Boston, Massachusetts in 1809. He was a well-known Masonic author and composer of the ritual for the concordant body, the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, he was elected Sovereign Grand Commander of that body in 1859, an office he held until his death on April 2, 1891. .............. also, Edward Gein’s mother, Augusta, died on this date in Wisconsin in 1945. He would leave her room completely as it was the day that she died, thus would be born the legends behind the ‘mother’ in the infamous movie titled Psycho. Shortly after his mother’s death Edward would begin his murderous killing spree. .............. and to continue, Stephen Mace was born on this date in Milford, Connecticut in 1948. He has written such books as Stealing the Fire from Heaven, Squeezing Being, Sorcery as Virtual Mechanics, Nemesis & Other Essays and Sixteen Essays on Magick and the Politics it Implies. It has often been stated that modern Chaos Magic is founded on the works of two magicians; Aleister Crowley and Austin Spare and Steve Mace’s books clearly demonstrates this point. .............. and finally I should mention that Ann Livingston made her living as an accountant, but she was also a UFO investigator and writer or MUFON and had in fact, published an article entitled Electronic Harassment and Alien Abductions in the November 1993 MUFON Journal. The article was highly critical of Julianne McKinney, director of the Electronic Surveillance Project of the Association of National Security Alumni. McKinney totally regards the UFO phenomena as merely a ploy to cover up experimental machinery or experimental psychology. On this particular day of December 29th, at 7:15 AM, her apartment, which was close to O’Hare airport, in Chicago, Illinois, was lit up brightly by a blinding silver white flash. That same day as she walked to her car five men dressed in all black suits, accosted her. She described the MIBs (Men in Black) as being almost faceless and carrying long, flashlight-like black objects which rendered her unconscious. She has no recollection of where she was taken, nor could she account for her lost time but shortly afterwards she developed a fast-form of ovarian cancer. 10:10am And to stir the pot, Jay writes - "93 Jerry, Frankly I'm rather surprised at all the sexual politics on the blog lately-- I mean, I thought this sort of war of the sexes was supposed to end with high school. Perhaps there's a certain amount of bitterness from women who haven't made peace with their choice of incarnation? I do think there is a distinction to be made between the changes we've been seeing in society and the laws of the universe. We have seen more and more liberation of women in the social sense, indicative of the feminine aeon we're entering, just in the last sixty years than in the entire previous aeon. Thus women are more liberated to pursue their own individual Wills but this doesn't change the fact that masculine energy still rules this plane. Some women, of course, (probably with a notable Martian current in their charts) are very good at functioning on this plane much like a man and the changes in society have come to accommodate that. And yes, men can be very dense, but so can women. Personally, I've never seen any distinction between the stupidity in the sexes. Most people don't understand jack shit. And speaking of the retrograde, I've been offline for a few days and was unaware this was going on. Funny thing is that on the 26th I was moving furniture from a shed in my yard and my truck got stuck in almost two feet of mud! After about 3 hours I finally got it out with the help of my nabors service truck (it has a crane wench) but then I couldn't get it out of 4 wheel drive low, that was now stuck! After a little tough love it shifted back. I was at pains to discover the strange seemingly demonic presence that was pestering me. Now realizing Mercury was retrograding and thinking a bit more about it, I think I might have just made a stupid decision to drive through a muddy yard. ... 6:15am Here is a story that appeared in the March 7th 2007 Los Angeles Times. I know it occurred awhile ago but it’s a good story worth repeating and since we didn't have this blog up and running yet, I fear you might have missed it. Anyway, it seems the bomb squad was called in at Los Angeles International Airport back in 2007 because security screeners discovered certain objects hidden on a 35-year-old Iraqi national named Fadhel Al-Malik who was bound for Philadelphia; after he had set off the metal detectors. However, Al-Maliki immediately told the screeners that he knew what had triggered the alarm and he proceeded to drop his pants, his underwear and remove items from his ass which included a rock, some chewing gum, and thin copper wire filament. Besides being told that the rock was from "another planet", Al-Maliki also said that these items were placed in his ass to, and I quote – “alleviate stress.” ... I know that some people practice yoga, some perform deep breathing exercises, others resort to medicating themselves with prescription drugs or with alcohol as if being comatose matters but every now and then somebody comes up with something really unique. So my question is this for my readers - "How do you alleviate stress?" -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6:00am For the history buffs: Georgii Ivanovitch Gurdjieff was born on this date in Alexandropol in Russian Armenia in 1877 to a Greek father and Armenian mother. He was a teacher, mystic, and philosopher. His autobiographical which is titled Meetings with Remarkable Men has him journeying to distant monasteries and esoteric schools in remotest parts of Central Asia and the Middle East in search of spiritual knowledge. It is arguably a work of fiction, either as a spiritual teaching device or parable. He has been described “... as an insane driver who would not last two minutes on a modern road.” Fritz Peters tells that he frequently drove too fast on the wrong side of the road, often he would miss his turn and refusing not to retrace his steps he would look for a new route on his map. One such route brought him head on into a tree outside Paris on Jul 5, 1924 which was almost near fatal. He died on October 29, 1949, after being admitted into the hospital apparently too late, but - “Four hours after his death, his forehead was still warm. And when J. G. Bennett stood alone beside the body in the chapel of the American Hospital, he could hear someone breathing - even when he held his breath and closed his eyes. He suspected Gurdjieff of a last practical joke.” In truth, he was dead and thus ended the life of the man whom the British press call a “fakir and shit.” The Times magazine described him as a “remarkable blend of P. T. Barnum, Rasputin, Freud, Groucho Marx and everybody’s grandfather.”-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday December 27th 2009 – 5:00pm To answer another email [in part] that I received last Wednesday from an old friend in Connecticut which stated - "I think the Practicus who made reference to and then recanted taking the 'real' Oath of the Abyss with a lame excuse has serious issues. I thought these type of head games regarding the Abyss negates one for ever taking the Oath in one's lifetime. What are your views? Is it something to be toyed with before its time. I say no." .... Reply: I agree with magickal theory. The Practicus is forever banned from actually crossing the Abyss; it's Magick 101. His ego screwed him royally. He now wears a cloak called 'doubt' in his mind which can never be shed once it is put on and as any magician knows; doubt will destroy any and all attempts to cross the Abyss. In reviewing his emails from day one it becomes very obvious that he clearly said to me, and to others, that he took the real Oath of the Abyss because he had to do it before he turned forty, or so his dream told him. Then the story began to mutate over months after reading the blog and realizing his utter folly. Inevitably he backtracked by saying that we 'all' misunderstood him, he actually took an Oath to 'take' the Oath someday. Who ever heard of such silliness? These type of head games, and numerous others, will only serve to hinder the magician forever in higher spiritual matters because they create seeds of 'doubt' in the mind. The worst that this Practicus can do now is to fool himself further by stating that sometime in the future he'll prove everyone wrong when he takes the Oath 'correctly' but is this not ego speaking? The best that he can do now is to realize that very few, if any, A.'.A.'. initiates ever reach Tiphereth. Those that do become great beacons of Light for Thelema. He can still do unbelievably good for humanity; if he sets aside his ego and gets back with the A.'.A.'. program. The question is, will his ego allow him?

4:00pm I replied to a female student today in regards to some posting pre-Christmas. I wrote [slightly edited] - "Well, I am slowly catching up with numerous unanswered emails; like your tome of the 22nd. I especially liked the ps – “Yes, you hit some buttons! Are we having fun now? :)-" ..... I am always having fun, you furry little creatures are so easily fluffed. You begin by writing – “I have been struck in many ways by this conversation on the blog and our private correspondence at the moment...brings up several pertinent topics for me at the moment. You share: "Helen, and the two others who want to remain anonymous, let me explain my views. No, I don’t have a “low opinion on women.” And you ask, “What does a nude woman have to do with Thelema and Magic?” ...... Well, my posting of December 18th actually has Helen asking that question, not me. To me, the naked flesh of a woman has everything to do with my experiencing this plane. I think everyone, male and female, too often cannot distinguish between a tasteful, erotic photo and hardcore porn but, then again, do what thou wilt. Too often in magick when a magician is told that they should study Malkuth-10 (Earth) inside and out; they simply study this plane of elementals which detail the macrocosmic world. Rarely do magicians explore the microcosm, or their bodies. But is it not the microcosm which the AA is most concerned? ... Remember, we all picked our vehicles, why be offended by them? It is important for a magician to realize that their flesh is sacred, it’s our Temple where God dwells (i.e. through your Angel). Just as a statue, carved so perfectly to represent the Goddess of Venus will automatically attract a daimon of like character which will act as an emissary between you and the Goddess ... our own bodies can also ‘attract’ a God if it is appropriately made sacred. This is the true goal of the AA in our microcosmic Malkuth. For any magician to consider ‘flesh’ dirty is something ingrained in their archetype that must be confronted, exposed and rooted out. I’m not saying that you or anyone has to flaunt their body, be naked or anything like that - there is no law beyond do what thou wilt. What I’m really saying is that you must become comfortable in your skin in order for you to discover the secrets behind your Temple. It has Sacred Laws. Too many people who join the AA think that the establishment of their Temple commences upon taking initiation. I say nay. It began upon your birth; taking ‘Initiation’ is merely a conscious ‘beginning’ to step out onto the path of self discover which will hopefully bring you to the realization of why you picked this incarnation; which is nothing more than your True Will. Most of your email brilliantly lays out the differences between the man and the woman’s libido and I agree, there must be a meeting in the middle between intellect and emotions. That is why this Aeon of the daughter doesn’t mean that the female will rule as much as it’s an Androgynous Aeon where opposites are united in both sexes. I think the clue to this Aeon is realizing ‘As Above, So Below’ ... If I, as a man (positive) in the flesh, is ever going to climb the Tree of Life and work within (negative) then I must study the ‘outer’ female in order to fully understand my ‘inner Self.’ Remember, both Trees are identical or mirror images of each other because God used the same blueprint to create everything from the most exalted to the infinitesimal and to study any part thereof on one Tree will reveal, simply by analogy, an identical fundamental principle on the other Tree. In other words, the secrets of my Inner Self are revealed in the manifested female. No don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean I have to become a transsexual or a drag queen; it’s something far more subtle. In fact; I have spent the better part of my adult life studying you wily little creatures and I feel I’ve only scratched the surface. I hope all my postings show that this quest is paying off, if only a little. How you describe this in relationship to yourself, is right on the money.However, you do miss the point, as do most women, when you talk about previous Aeons of male dominated society which has fucked with woman for centuries. What about the Age of Taurus? It was a feminine Aeon of the Mother; shouldn’t woman have dominated and ruled in that Aeon? But they didn’t. So as a scientist, how do we explain this? It’s quite simple. NEVER ignore the Laws of Magick. As an example: if Alchemist use the analogy that men are Fire and woman are Water, what happens when they unite? One always dominates. Now, since this plane is naturally positive (Fire) by its manifested nature, what happens if you add more Fire (i.e. man)? Does it allow Water to rule? ... Thus men will always be the dominant creature and you’ll always see “evidence of male dominance in every single way.” Just because an Aeon changes, it doesn’t alter the realm of Malkuth. I know that may rub some woman wrong but remember, we picked our incarnation – it being either male or female. You picked a female this time around and if you are to understand your Inner Self, what better way than to be fucked by it on so many levels? We learn by experiencing good and evil. And do I “understand why (you i.e. woman in general) are pissed? Why (you) are so touchy and why (you) are repressed?!” ... No. Stop projecting. Men can vomit just as many negatives toward women in general to reflect the root of our problems. So, instead of throwing the blame game, lets try to appreciate and understand the opposite.You wrote – “You guys could use some understanding of the feminine (and frankly, so could women), as that would be the progressive evolution of the Aeon. It is not so that the feminine energy can be dominant. Only, so we (masculine and feminine) can be equal (united). 8:55am While talking with a friend on Telegraph Avenue here in Berkeley last week I was asked how I do Liber RESH vel Helios every day when he's known me for years and not seen me do it even once. I didn't want to go into then but I promised him that I'd post a story later which would explain. ... Grady Louis McMurtry said that the first time he saw the Great Beast doing Liber Resh they were in London. Grady writes that, "We had taken one of those big red double-decker buses and were sitting on the bottom level on the left about half way. We were sitting there talking, when suddenly Crowley glanced up to the left, said, 'Pardon me a moment', closed his eyes, made some mystic passes with the fingers of his right hand, and mumbled something unintelligible. Unintelligible to me, anyway. It wasn't until later that I figured out that he had been doing the noon Liber Resh. The thing that is so striking is that he was so quiet about it. To hear some people talk you would think that he would have rushed up to the top deck and shouted it 'from the housetops' to all of greater London. 7:55am I wrote to a student yesterday. In part of the lengthy tome I wrote - "Now that the old fat man’s holiday is behind us I can sit back and address yours of December 19th. Personally, I think your Practicus definitely screwed you over in many ways. He was totally disregarding his main duties as a teacher. Like a Captain of a ship, a true spiritual teacher would never have thought of himself over his students. A true teacher, if planning a ritual of High Magick, would have contacted and shifted his students to his superior before doing anything ... but your Practicus thought ONLY of himself. He left you high and dry with little or no guidance. That is unforgivable and karma that he’ll come to regret some day. ... Here is an important lesson to remember. In the man of Earth grade an AA initiate like yourself is taught how to prepare themselves as a vehicle or Temple of God by learning primarily the Laws of Thelema. ... In the Lover grade you’ll learn that the vehicle you’ve been preparing is NOT so much for yourself but for the Gods who reside above the Abyss and who will descend through you in order to help ‘you’ guide and teach humanity. In other words, your body (in the man of Earth grade) is a Church that is being built where God will inevitably dwell. It must be prepared or built properly. As in Masonry, you must learn the Cosmic Laws as to how to build this Temple. ... To think only of ‘oneself’, especially while in the Lover grade, implies that the Temple that you’ve established is merely a pretty house on Malkuth. ... The entire goal of the student is to inevitably make the goal of the AA, your goal ... which is to guide humanity. ... And don’t feel like a ‘lame ass’ for not having a ‘better teacher’ than your Practicus. At the time he took you on he was very promising and no one would have ever expected his melt down. No one can predict failure. We posted the drama on our website to teach our students around the world valuable lessons about magick and to teach them how to properly use magickal theory. It is important to understand what could happen and of the dangers you can face if you ignore the Laws of Nature when climbing the Tree. Magick is no game. If nothing else, your teacher’s failure is a great lesson for all students. Also, never look at any of our magickal postings as being negative, see them as positive lessons for which they were meant to be understood. Over forty years later, on June 23, 1992, she had a great spiritual awakening to the fact that she was a ‘walk-in.’ This implied that Kelley knew her original spirit had left and that she, as someone else, had taken over her body. This new entity called itself Jelaila Starr and claimed to be a messenger from the Galactic Federation’s Nibiruan Council. Through Kelley’s body Jelaila was now able to publish her writings as a spiritual visionary and messenger of the higher knowledge of our origins as the human race, as well as the bigger picture of our galactic and universal history. Jelaila is the author of two books; We are the Nibiruans: Return of the 12th Planet and Bridge of Reunion. ............ also, Gerina Dunwich was born on this date in Illinois in 1959. She was formally introduced to witchcraft and spiritualism by an older cousin in the Summer of 1969. She later moved to Southern California in the Spring of 1977 where she began doing research for a book called The Lexicon of the Occult (1990). ........... and finally, on December 27, 1962 Wilbert B. Smith died. He was the leading scientist appointed head of the Canadian government’s Project Magnet in 1950; the project was designed to investigate Flying Saucers, which were taken seriously by the Canadians at that time. But the idea of visitors from outer space was ridiculed by the press, and unsympathetic officials shelved the project four years later. Smith claimed to have received telepathic messages from UFOs. 4:55am I have posted another of my favorite movies, one which Paul Hohlt and I just watched on Thursday night. The movie is titled HARD CANDY (2006) It is basically about an adorably cute fourteen year old girl who stalks a murderous pedophile through vigilante justice. Of course, once she captures him, he denies everything but not to be deterred, the young girl begins to torture him anyway. At one point, after being knocked out, he wakes to find himself tied to a table with his pants removed as she's reading through a medical journal preparing to castrate him so that no other little girl will ever have to suffer at his hands. Ouch! Its very emotional and graphically portrayed and if you've ever wondered what the sound of a man’s nuts make will make when they're thrown down a kitchen’s garbage disposal, you’ll get the answer in this movie. The movie is really twisted and if you’d like to know just how twisted then click HERE for my full movie review. 4:50am To answer an old question about the Japanese horror movies Ju-On and Ju-On 2 which I had previously posted on my favorite MOVIE page. I loved these movies. They were originally low-budget horror releases in early 2000 which had no English subtitles and they went straight to DVD. Surprisingly, they did extremely well and prompted two Japanese remakes named Ju-On: The Grudge and Ju-On: The Grudge 2 which were released in the theaters in 2003. A year later, an American remake simply called the Grudge was released starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. What most people don’t realize is that in the original 2000 release of Ju-On the actress Kuriyama Chiaki of Kill Bill fame [she played GoGo] made a brief five minute appearance which is probably the most effectively creepy scene in the entire film. She plays Mizuho Tamura, mild-mannered school girl and girlfriend of Tsuyoshi Murakami. While looking for her boyfriend at school, she has an encounter with a non-terminal repeating phantasm. This scene was removed from future releases. How can you tell one version from the other, or which one might have Chiaki? Its quite simple; Chiaki actually appears on the original cover of the 2000 ... where Toshio, the blue boy, is on the 2003 version and all others. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4:35am For the history buffs: Vlad Tepes, also known as the Impaler, died on this date in 1476 at the age of 45. He was born in 1431 in Sighisoara, a town in Transylvania and history more commonly refers to him as Vlad Dracula. His entire life was surrounded by the barbarity of war and extreme savagery which encouraged him to commit violent acts of inhuman cruelty of which legends are born. One account claims that he invited hundreds of beggars and other old, sick and poor people to a huge banquet at his castle. After eating, he asked them, “Would you like to be without cares, lacking nothing in this world?” Enthusiastically everyone screamed yes and he obliged them by boarding up the banquet hall and setting it on fire. There were no survivors, which in an odd twisted way ended their problems, as he had promised. It is recorded as the building was burning, he smiled and said, “I did this so that no one will be poor in my realm.” Be that as it may, his preferred method of execution was impalement. In fact, on Easter Sunday 1459, he had hundreds of people arrested whom he had suspected of killing his father and brother and he impaled each on a long sharp wooden stake. Them, to the utter horror of those who watched, Vlad was seen gathering blood in cups from his impaled victims in which he dipped his bread while having lunch. During his brief six year reign Vlad is credited with over 40,000 impalements. Finally, during a battle with the Turks on December 26, 1476, Dracula was killed near Bucharest. Vlad Dracula is considered the base character in Bram Stoker's epic story Dracula. ............. also, Henry Miller was born on this date in Manhattan, New York in 1891. He was the author of such famous works as Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn and The Rosy Crucifixion, to name just a few. Like many individuals he had a brief encounter with Aleister Crowley. It is believed that Henry met the Great Beast through the French astrologer Conrad Moricand in 1933. His friend, Anais Nin, has stated in a chapter simply titled “November 2, 1934” from her book Incest, that “Henry has fallen under the spell of a remarkable old man {Aleister Crowley} who is fantastic and psychic, a painter gone mad in Zurich.” In a letter to his childhood friend Emil Schnellock written in October of 1935, Henry Miller included a short but interesting story describing an event which took place between him and Crowley. Obviously the Beast scared him. He writes that after he heard Aleister Crowley boast one day of the ease with which he could read men’s minds, he made it a point of keeping quiet in his presence. He then told Anais Nin, “I said nothing about my worries at all” in front of Aleister Crowley-or in other words he kept trying to blank out his mind. Why? Miller further explains, “I wouldn’t want that guy tampering with me. No sir!” Henry Miller quietly died in his sleep on June 7, 1978. ............. and finally, on December 26, 1995, in the early morning hours in the Torrecilla Baja region of Puerto Rico, a woman claimed to have heard strange noises in her house but luckily her dog’s barking scared off whatever it was. Later, the woman found her Siamese cat dead with the genitals removed, two guinea hens with their throats slit, a chicken with “perforations,” and four ducks and four rabbits dead in their cages. Obviously she had been visited by the Chupacabra, or “Goat sucker.” On the same day, near San German, eleven goats were found dead.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday December 25th 2009 – 6:00am Here is a Christmas story that typifies my own mood for today! It occurred on December 25, 1943. It was a cold, one of those typically snowy English winter days which found Grady McMurtry sitting in Aleister Crowley’s apartment at 93 Jermyn Street enjoying a nice dinner. Afterwards, as they sat talking and playing chess, there came “a raucous noise at the door.” Crowley looked up saying; “I wonder what in the world that is?” He slowly got up out of his chair and walked toward the door. Opening it, he found four young English boys engaging in the British festivity of caroling on Christmas Day. It was customary to continue caroling until given money for the service. Crowley, not amused, slammed the door in their faces, screaming at the top of his lungs “To the lions with them! To the lions with them!" ... Yes, I too love fucking Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!

5:30am For the history buffs: Ignatius of Loyola was born on this date in Loyola Castle, Azpeitia, Guipuzcoa, Spain in 1491. He was the youngest of thirteen children and was baptized Iñigo Lopez de Loyola. He was canonized in 1622; declared by Pope Pius XI to be the patron saint of spiritual exercises and retreats. He died on July 31, 1556. ............. also, Charles Stansfeld Jones joined the AA on this date in 1909, taking the motto O.I.V.V.I.O, which stands for Unus In Omnibus, Omnia In Uno. Later Aleister Crowley would write that Jones “…tried to improve the Tree of Life by turning the Serpent of Wisdom upside down! Yet he could not even make his scheme symmetrical: his little remaining good sense revolted at the supreme atrocities. Yet he succeeded in reducing the whole Magical Alphabet to nonsense, and showing that he had never understood its real meaning.” ............ and on December 24, 1973 it was predicted that the ‘Christmas Comet’ more properly known as Kohoutek, was to destroy the Earth on this date. Wednesday December 23rd 2009 – 6:30am For the history buffs: Joseph Smith was born on this date in Sharon, Vermont in 1805. He grew up on a series of tenant farms in Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York. It is a well-known fact that Joseph Smith read the magical treatise by Francis Barrett called The Magus (1801). From this he learned how to use a ‘crystal’ in order to obtain angelic visions. However, at first, he predominantly sought buried treasure and missing items. All this information came to light when historians realized that Joseph Smith was arrested as a fraudulent ‘glass looker’ and was found guilty in Bainbridge, NY in 1826. Court records clearly state that Joseph Smith, “had a certain stone which he had occasionally looked at to determine where hidden treasures in the bowels of the earth were.” Then, in 1823, Joseph Smith said that he was visited by an angel named Moroni, who told him about an ancient record containing God’s dealings with the former inhabitants of the American continent. How the Angel appeared, whether it was in person or in the crystal, has long been debated. In 1827, Joseph Smith supposedly retrieved these ancient records, which were inscribed on thin golden plates, and shortly afterward he began translating its words by the “gift of God.” The resulting manuscript, known as The Book of Mormon, was published in March 1830. After which he re-buried the golden plates. On April 6, 1830, Joseph Smith organized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and became its first president. Sadly, Joseph Smith was persecuted much of his adult life and was killed along with his brother Hyrum by a mob in Carthage, Illinois, on June 27, 1844. Arguably there are two ways to look at Joseph Smith’s life. You can either view him as a fraud and an opportunist who shamelessly exploited his religious followers, who was murdered by an angry mob, infuriated by all his crazy beliefs, or, if you are a Mormon, he is the greatest man who ever lived. ............ also, on December 23, 1887 Rev. A. F. A. Woodford died. He was the person who found the original ‘Golden Dawn Cipher Manuscripts’ in a cupboard where Kenneth Mackenzie, a leading Masonic figure of his time, had stored them before his death. Woodford later showed the manuscripts to Dr. Westcott, due to Westcott’s reputation as being a scholar of ancient lore. He realized that the cipher used in the manuscripts was similar to that used in the 15th century by Abbott Trithemius to encode some of his writings. He then began to translate the manuscripts and soon discovered it contained a series of five condensed Masonic ritualistic grade initiations. Westcott then commissioned S.L. MacGregor Mathers to re-write the rituals into a more workable shape. Is it any wonder that the first governing triad of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn were these self-same individuals?

7:50am I love a good Christmas Story as much as the next guy and here is one in the News that I really enjoyed. The actual headlines read - 'Tenn. boy, 4, caught with beer, stolen gift.' ... It seems last Thursday on the 17th, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said that he found a 4-year-old boy named Hayden Wright wandering the streets of his neighborhood in the middle of the night drinking a 12 ounce can of beer and wearing a little girl's brown dress .... Hayden had stolen the dress from under a neighbor's Christmas tree after breaking into their house and rummaging through their Christmas presents. It seems that he liked the dress, he drank more beer, he put it on and probably thought to himself - "I look good." And then he left. What guy hasn't found himself in this kind of predicament after drinking a beer too many? ... The real kicker to the story is that his father is in prison and his mother told the Police that her child wants to follow his father's footsteps. "He runs away trying to find his father," she said. "He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail because that's where his daddy is." ... and did I mention he was only four? His name was Barnabas Saul and although it is said that they saw many visions, Saul would later deny everything and claim that he made it all up. ............. also, Stephen King’s movie titled Carrie opened on this date in theaters in 1976. It is about Carrie White who is an extremely shy young girl, with immense psychokinetic powers, who doesn’t make friends easily. The plot thickens when Carrie has her first ‘period’ in the shower with blood running everywhere and is tormented and taunted viciously by her classmates. The gym teacher’s reaction is to chastise everyone for being so cruel but Carrie is already tweaked by it all. One of the girls in shower takes pity on Carrie and gets Tommy Ross, her own boyfriend and the class hunk, to invite her to the senior prom. Meanwhile another girl who has been banned from the prom for her continued aggressive behavior is not as forgiving and plans a trick to embarrass Carrie further in front of the whole school. What she doesn’t realize is that Carrie will lose control if pushed to far and with devastating results on the student populations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:00am For the history buffs: Maud Gonne was born on this date in Tongham, England in 1866, although many historians claim it was on the 20th. She was an Irish patriot, an actress, feminist and one of the original founders of Sinn Fein (We Ourselves) as well as the revolutionary group known as Inghinidhe na hÉireann (Daughters of Ireland) which was a women's republican movement. Together with William Butler Yeats, Maude helped establish the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. Yeats fell madly in love with her and his feelings for her inspired a large number of poems but in 1903 she married a Major in the Irish Brigade named John MacBride. He was later executed on may 5, 1916 for his part in the Easter Rising. She briefly joined The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in 1891. In 1938 she published her memoirs titled A Servant of the Queen. She died on April 27, 1953 at the age of eighty-eight and was buried in the Republican Plot in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin. ................ also, the author Anthony Dymoke Powell was born in London on this date in 1905. His major work was A Dance to the Music of Time (1951-1975), a series of 12 novels in which the experiences of the narrator Nicholas Jenkins, a writer, are contrasted with those of a ruthless political opportunist named Kenneth Widmerpool. The tone grows more somber and haunting as they age and society changes. Powell’s autobiography, To Keep the Ball Rolling, was published in four volumes between 1977 to 1983. His literary criticisms were published in the volumes Miscellaneous Verdicts (1992) and Under Review (1994). His earliest recollection of Aleister Crowley occurred when he was a young child in 1911. It was a story his mother had told him. It begins with her waiting for a train to take her to a luncheon on the outskirts of London “At the station my mother noticed getting into one of the compartments a man whose appearance made her feel a sudden sense of extreme repulsion. At her destination, this man reappeared on the platform. She found herself almost praying that he would not be her fellow-guest at the luncheon. Needless to say he was. It was the magician, Aleister Crowley.” When Anthony asked his mother what they talked about during the luncheon, she simply replied, “Horrors.” Anthony Powell died in 2000. ............... and on this date in 1995, at about 3 o’clock in the morning near Guanica, Puerto Rivo, 44-year-old Osvaldo Claudio Rosado thought it was a good time to be out washing his car. He was wrong. Something grabbed him from behind. He tried to fight off the intruder and claimed to have seen a black-haired “gorilla” about five feet tall as it ran off toward the woods. Rosado had cuts in his abdomen, possibly torn by fingernails or claws. He had survived the Chupacabra, or “Goat sucker.” ............. and finally, on December 21, 1995 near Klamath Falls, Oregon a pregnant heifer was found dead with her right ear gone, her hide cut from her face, her tongue sliced lengthwise along the top of the teeth, all four teats removed leaving black circles on the surface of the udder, and the rectum and vagina were cut out in a neat “keyhole” cut.
