6:55am For the history buffs: On this date in 1630 one of the Mayflower’s passenger’s named John Billington was hanged; thus becoming the first person in the New World to hold the distinction of being executed. It seems he had made many enemies aboard the ship as a "foul mouthed miscreant" and "knave," and he even took punishment for insulting Captain Myles Standish and another passenger he willfully murdered named John Newcomen; a crime for which he was hung. He had a wife and two sons and one of Billington’s direct descendants would even become a U.S. President named James Garfield. ……...… and it was on September 30, 1888 that the the third and fourth victims of Jack the Ripper were found. Elizabeth Stride had her throat cut, but nothing in the shape of any mutilations due to the Ripper having been interrupted. He had to look elsewhere. This is when he found Catherine Eddowes in Mitre Square. Her throat was cut and her face, stomach and other parts were badly mutilated.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"My friends from the prison, they call out to me and ask me what is like to be free. And I answer them most mysteriously, Are birds free from the chains of the skyway?"Things have slowed for me after a frenetic summer. I have managed to finish Col. Olcott's book about Madame Blavatsky that has left me free to start "Isis Unveiled" [still in "before the veil", but it is amazing how much it ties in with the discussion in your blog; specifically on the works of Plato concerning the soul as being distributed in earthly bodies as an "exile and punishment" *Crantor. And reference to the "body of light"--tracing it back to reference: Herakleides-"the soul is a luminous, highly ethereal essence." Paracelsus-sidereal light; Porphyry-astral or "celestial body which is always joined with the soul -immortal, luminous and starlike"; the Rosicrucians search in the "astral ocean of invisible fire which encompasses the the world"; the "anima mundi" of the Vedas; and finally, the author of "Epinomis", who locates between the highest and lowest gods [the lowest being embodied souls] a daemon of the third class clothed in vapory bodies--earthly spirits or our astral souls.I have also started "Do What Thou Wilt" by Suster, who makes a nice acknowledgment to your help as a reference.Hope to be in your neighborhood Wed. or Thursday; maybe we can get together for a chat.93 93/93, EdReply: Good to hear from you. 7:52am Back in September of 1978 I had a dream: “While leaning over the cliff, as far in my mind as I dare go, my skull opened up and my brain fell out. I watched it descend into the darkness and time seemed to slow. It was then that I heard a splat.” I added into my diary that I woke thinking to myself - “I’m not going to have a good day today.”------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7:10am Early this morning I sent Marlene an email - "Happy '20th' Anniversay of the Great Berkeley Keystone Gestapo Massacre on the Ordo Templi Orientis by the Berkeley Police department.” ... We were both living at 8th Street when the Police raided the place back in 1989. [see today's For the History Buffs] ... She just replied - “93! Damn it's been that long?! 5:15am About Roman Polasnski's arrest, Luna writes - "93! I have such mixed emotions about Polanski's arrest this morning. I do not know what I'd do if I was the then 13 year old girl/woman today. With the Makenzie Phillips news and all of the rest that is going on.....it seems that some huge egregore of this child abuse thing is happening right now....I am going to step aside and observe.....do what thou will ladies....and make it so right that the rest of us do not have to endure this portion of human insanity any longer.....go do it right, that is all I have to say to the women...do it right and make a real change. ...meanwhile, I have to say that Polanski's "Repulsion" film changed my life and was one of the most important films of my youth. It seems that lightning rods get hit with a variety of flashes of light and electric urges ... I say go full throttle and get it done with.....I'm sick of the secret touching games....let's "do it in the road" from now on.....everyone needs to have a license (and be monitored) to have kids, be around kids...or else they have to live in the middle of the road in plain view. I vote for test tube babies...about 666 allowed to be born a year on the planet...and no contact with anyone but each other for the first 30 years.....! Oh my oh my..... 93s )O(."Reply: I have always loved Polanski's works. Repulsion (1965) is awesome, as is Rosemary's Baby (1968) but my favorite is Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) ... Yes, it is a strange 'sexual' egregore of late but I think part of it has to do with the openness of communication worldwide. We're learning about stuff that has usually been kept secret or behind closed doors. Let's be honest, sex with children has been going on for centuries; still is in many parts of the world and is considered a rite of passage. I'm not making excuses for Polanski's actions because I have mixed feelings whether or not to throw his ass in jail or just say, forget it. But remember, puberty begins at a certain age and it seems most cultures know why ... and have no hang-ups about it. But those societies afflicted with the puss-like dripping disease of 'Christianity' have a really warped moral fiber which looks at all 'sex' outside their definition of the act as evil, contemptible and vile. I'm not condoning any sort of sex with children; its not my thing but I'm tired of the unconscious anti-sexual psychosis that Christianity has buried deep in our unconscious by trying to conditioning us into accepting 'their' way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4:30am NEWS: Over the weekend it was revealed that new DNA tests concluded that a bullet-pierced skull long thought to be Adolf Hitler's does not belong to the Nazi dictator after all. Scientists at the University of Connecticut conducted tests on the bullet-pierced skull which had been secretly preserved for decades by Soviet intelligence and discovered that it belonged to an unidentified woman under 40. The results now cast doubt on the long-held account that Hitler swallowed a cyanide pill and then committed suicide in his Berlin bunker with his mistress Eva Braun as Allied forces were closing in on him in 1945. Their bodies were then wrapped in blankets and carried to a bomb crater outside the Berlin bunker, doused with gas and set on fire. But historians doesn't think the skull is even that of Eva Braun since there is no report that she ever shot herself or having been shot. According to historians the skull fragment was the only positive physical proof that Hitler was dead. 4:15am For the history buffs: On this date, twenty years ago in 1989, I was amongst the arrested in the “Great Berkeley Keystone Gestapo Massacre on the Ordo Templi Orientis by the Berkeley Police Department” ... in which two houses along with Thelema Lodge were raided for drugs. I still have vivid memories. What really shocked the Police Review Commission, who were investigating the incident, was that the police issued a major drug raid on a Friday night, in of all places Berkeley, where many people were either harassed or arrested and all they got to show for it was ‘nine marijuana seeds.’ One PRC commissioner said to the effect that if the police had swept Telegraph Avenue near campus they would have gotten better results. Anyway, the entire gruesome event has been serialized in a story titled MEMOIRS OF AN OTO INITIATE, Being an Historical Romp into a Quasi-Magickal Fraternity in California [CORNELIA Issues No.4-18].------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday September 28th 2009 – 6:00pm NEWS: For those BEATLE fans, Lucy O'Donnell has died today at the tender age of 46. Julian Lennon has said that the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was inspired by a picture that he drew of his classmate Lucy with star-like shapes when they were at nursery school in the mid-1960s. John Lennon used the phrase as a title for a song he wrote for the album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band released on June 1, 1967. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds initially caused controversy and it was banned in England because of its supposed reference to the drug LSD. ... Aleister Crowley appeared on the album cover of Sgt Pepper’s amongst numerous other notables. Many of the people pictured on the cover were personal heroes of the Beatles or people they admired.

5:25pm NEWS: It seems my favorite Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski (born August 18, 1933) was arrested Saturday morning at an airport in Switzerland after flying in for the Zurich Film Festival where he was expected to receive a life-time honorary award ... instead, he found himself arrested for his 1977 conviction of "unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor", a 13-year-old girl in California for which he had fled the United States. He is now facing extradition to US. Anyway, he is best known for his turbulent and controversial life. In 1969, his pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered by the Manson Family and the year before he directed the 1968 classic horror film Rosemary's Baby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:30am For the history buffs: One of the most famous people in ancient China was a wise philosopher named Confucius (circa 551-479 BC) whose birthday is celebrated on this date. He was born in the village of Zou in the country of Lu. His original name was K’ung Ch’iu. …...…. And the Canadian cult leader Roch Theriault, who was obsessed with anatomy and medicine, performed crude intestinal surgery on a woman name Boislard by slicing open her abdomen and ripping out a piece of infected intestine with his bare hands on this date in 1988. He then ordered another follower to stitch up the wound with a needle and thread. After she died the next day in agonizing pain, he sawed off the top of her head and then had sex with her torso. Before burying the woman, he removed a rib, which he wore around his neck. He was finally arrested and charged with murder after another cult member, whose arm had been hacked off by Theriault with a meat cleaver, told hospital authorities what had happened to him. At his trial in 1993, even more horrific tales came to light. The cult leader had burned women with a welding torch, put vice-grips on their nipples, and cut their fingers off with a wire cutter; all in an attempt apparently to drive the devil out of them. Theriault also demanded sex from all of the women members to increase the number of cult members through children. Also, revealed was the story that after a new member of the cult, one who had just escaped from a mental hospital, beat a child at the compound, Theriault performed "surgery" on the childe to save her but she died and as punishment, Theriault castrated the man. After authorities learned about some of the activities at the ranch, they removed all of the children. The 1993 trial came to an abrupt end when Theriault pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison and to this day he remains incarcerated. …...…. and on September 28, 1989 the U.S. government allegedly shot down and recovered a UFO at Moriches Bay in Long Island.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday September 27th 2009 – 11:00am In regards to the Body of Light, if I had to pick one book, what would I recommend on this topic? .... probably BEYOND THE BODY, The Human Double and the Astral Planes by Benjamin Walker [London: Routledge & Kegan Paul 1977]. This book is an enquiry into the non-physical entity functioning along with the physical body by the light of psychology, metaphysics and science. The contents: New Animism; Life and Consciousness; Esoteric Physiology; Astral Body; Exteriorization; Strange-Mindedness; Methods of Projection; Planes and their Inhabitants; Magic in the Planes; Folklore of the Double; Metaphysics of the Double; Soul and its Destiny.

10:45am I received an interesting email this morning – “93 Jer, I was at a class today at it was mentioned that a person's Body of Light has a rudimentary life of its own which can act independently of the person, at times when one is not actively working with it. The reason for the mention was one of warning that things can be done by it which could cause issues for the human. That one needed to be aware of this tendency so that care is taken whenever working with/in the Body of Light that at the end of the working it is not left 'out' or able to randomly wander and act when you were not using it. Is this something you are aware of? I have not experienced or considered it this way at all. I do know that it is important to reabsorb the Body of Light into oneself after travelling, etc., or to dissolve it when finished. But the idea of it being able to act independently between active workings is new to me. I do know that we can create partial beings, similar to a Body of Light, and invest them with a purpose or ability to have something akin to life. Does a person's Body of Light have the same shell-effect without being intentional? If you already know this, can you provide me with a reference or two or even some hints of where to look further on this phenomena? 93 93/93.”Reply: You couldn’t have picked a more controversial subject. Theosophists and other more white light groups tend to throw around ‘fluff’ kind of terms and phrases while stating that the Body of Light is merely a part of ourselves that we use in a spiritual quest. But in a culture where ‘God is Dead’ it is easier to imply that the Body of Light is simply an astral sheath that we use while exploring the Tree of Life ... but trying to correlated these ‘sheaths’ or Hindu psycho-spiritual subtle bodies to Spheres and paths on the Qabalistic Tree of Life has always been an ordeal. Yes, there are similarities to what both term the 'Body of Light' but cultural, language and religious differences are often our greatest stumbling blocks. How they interpret something is not exactly how we, as westerners, see it. We must also determine whether or not we want to tow the white-light Christian standpoint which has affected the majority of groups from the Victorian period to present ... or do we want to try to understand the Body of Light from an early point-of-view like the Greeks. I tend to think the Greeks as being far more archetypal to ourselves magickally than eastern religions. They understood that the Body of Light was part of us while being an independent entity at the same time.To understand we must start by stating unequivocally that the Holy Guardian Angel is not our Higher Self and this was understood by Aleister Crowley later in his life. Remember, all his writing prior to 1936 seem to indicate his belief that they were one and the same. But toward the end of his life, especially in Magick Without Tears, he clearly came to believe that the HGA was an ‘objective phenomenon.’ Why this is important is because the HGA is a tenuous something that has been guiding mankind since the dawn of time. The Greeks called this entity a daimon. It was considered neither human nor divine. One of the earliest mentions of the daimon is found in The Golden Verses of Pythagoras (580BC-500BC) – “Father Zeus, O free them all from sufferings so great, or show unto each the daimon, who is their guide!” In Plato’s The Symposium he writes - “The daimon communicates to the gods the prayers of humans and reveals to humans the commands of the gods.” ... In some respects the daimon’s role is simply to act as a sort of a go-between, or traveler between Heaven and Earth. It was believed to be a totally independent entity from us which merely assumes the responsibility of helping us to accomplish the type of incarnation that we had chosen. Whether or not such a calling or life was to be bathed in a reality ‘good or bad’ is immaterial to the daimon. The daimon’s job is simply to bring our Soul to the accomplishment of its True Will, meaning the type of ‘experience’ that it had chosen prior to birth and in doing this, it should give us the ability (according to Plato) “to learn and discern between good and evil.” The Neo-Platonistic Greek philosophers Iamblichus (245AD-325AD) defined the daimon more clearly as an Augoeides. The word Augoeides is a combination of two Greek words; auge, meaning a bright light and eidos, which implies that the light has taken form or shape. Hence a ‘Body of Light.’ The Greeks described the Augoeides as being celestial light clothed in the essential form of its host (aka Astral Double) which is an independent entity which basically listens to our prayers and then floats to the Heavens to ask the Gods advice; clothed in the image of our desire. Study American Indian Spirit Guides. These guides are always attached to specific individuals while being totally independent at the same time. They think and acts as ‘they’ want; not how humans want them to be. They assume specific animal shapes in order to guide and help the host explore the worlds. Have you read any Castaneda? Remember how he put his ‘consciousness’ into a Crow and then flew? White Light schools do the same thing by teaching the students to 'create' the Body of Light in order to explore the more subtle realms. But why destroy the image after each flight? Why not fortify it? Its a Magickal Implement, no? The answer is (a. whether or not you believe that you are simply creating an image to use ... or (b. whether or not you believe that you are giving your Spirit Guide (i.e. daimon, HGA etc) an image in which it can assist you, or if he revealed to you 'his' image. If I believe in the latter then obviously after I have come back to reality my Spirit Guide is on his own to do as he pleases, no?As far as the need to take care that “whenever working with/in the Body of Light that at the end of the working it is not left 'out' or able to randomly wander and act when you were not using it.” ... This is a modern white-light ‘control’ freak mentality view. In truth, the daimon always wanders, you cannot pen it in. The Tantra informs us to ‘curb’ its movement implies Death to our mortal shell and it informs us that we exist daily - due to this state. The Qabalah agrees. It is how we view the world from the lowest conscious circumstances on Malkuth/Yesod all the way up into Kether. Crowley in Magick Without Tears (Chptr.81) adds that we carry on our “whole life in this Body of Light.” The bottom line is that the ‘Body of Light’ is interpreted many ways, as you yourself are doing and like many magickal terms, it all depends on the school of thought to which you adhere. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7:25am For the history buffs: On this date in 1726 a 25 year old maidservant named Mary Toft from Godalming, England became the subject of considerable controversy when she gave birth to sixteen rabbits, according to her doctors John Howard. He sent immediate letters to some of England’s greatest doctors and scientists asking for help investigating the delicate situation and among those who came to his assistance were Nathaniel St Andre, the surgeon-anatomist to King George I and Sir Richard Manningham, the most famous obstetrician in London. In their presence, Toft gave birth to several more dead rabbits. When the doctors questioned her she claimed that during her pregnancy she had an intense craving for roast rabbit, which she tried to catch in the garden and which she admired in the village market, and that she dreams about rabbits. Based on this evidence the doctors explained that these births were the result of “maternal impressions”, contending that a pregnant woman’s experiences could be imprinted directly on the fetus at conception and this is what caused the birth defects of her children to look like rabbits. Surprisingly the ‘rabbit birthings’ were actually exposed as a hoax, but not before many of London’s most eminent doctors had been thoroughly taken in by the concept. …...…. and it was on September 27, 1789 that Cagliostro was arrested by order of the Pope and becomes one of the last official arrests by the Apostolic Court of the Inquisition in Italy. No charges were ever officially presented to any court due to the fact that all those who could testify against him were dead thanks to the inquisition. It was decided to throw him in prison anyway, where he would later die. …...…. And how can I forget to mention that on September 27, 1911 Rose Edith Kelly, aka Mrs. Aleister Edward Crowley, was taken off to a sanatorium for alcoholic dementia by the family doctor and certified insane. She later recovered, divorced Aleister Crowley, remarried and tried to forget the Great Beast 666. ……… and on September 27, 1923 Norman Mudd took the Oath of Probationer in the AA becoming Frater Omnia Pro Veritate, which means ‘All for Truth.’ ……… and finally, on September 27, 1955 Pierre Arnold Bernard died at the age of 80. His real name was Peter Coon although he was widely known as ‘Oom the Omipotent.’ He was born in Leon, Iowa, in 1875, the son of a barber, and he followed in his father’s trade in and around Chicago and later in California. He later moved to New York in 1909 and taught Hatha Yoga at his ‘New York Sanskrit College.’ Most historians agree that this enigmatic character was largely responsible for establishing the eastern art of sexual Tantra in America with his Tantrik Order, but where he got his teachings from no one is quite sure. He became notorious throughout newspapers and journals as a spiritual leader and philosopher as well as a philanderer, seducer of women and purveyor of scandalous indecencies. The sister of Aleister Crowley’s Scarlet Woman Leah Hirsig, or Alma Hirsig, was once a member of the Tantrik Order. She wrote an expose on Oom the Omipotent in a book titled My Life in a Love Cult, A Warning to All Young Girls.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday September 26th 2009 – 8:00am For the history buffs: September 26 This is Saint Cyprian and Justina Day. Cyprian was a great philosopher and renowned sorcerer, a native of Carthage who had dealing with demons. At the age of ten he was sent by his parents, as a preparation for a sorcerer’s career, to Mount Olympus, which the pagans called the dwelling of the gods. Here there were a multitude of idols in which demons dwelled. On this mountain Cyprian studied all manner of diabolical arts: he mastered various demonic transformations, learned how to change the nature of the air, to bring up winds, produce thunder and rain, disturb the waves of the sea, cause damage to gardens, vineyards and fields, to send diseases and plagues upon people; and in general he learned a ruinous wisdom and diabolical activity filled with evil. In this place he saw a numberless legion of demons, with the prince of darkness at their head; some stood before him, others served him, still others cried out in praise of their prince, and some were sent into the world in order to corrupt people. As for Justina. Although she came from pagan parents, she inevitably became a devout Christian. Legend has it that Cyprian sought to bring Justina, a virgin as pure as blinding light, to ruin but she foiled three separate attacks by his demons with the sign of the cross. For whatever reasons, Cyprian wondered about the power of such a symbol and, deciding to see its effects, he made the cross upon himself. Immediately demons of all shape and sizes began jumping from his body and fleeing. In his joyousness, now bathed in utter freedom, Cyprian embraced Christianity. He would rise up to become a powerful Bishop while Justina became the head of a convent. Sadly, during the vile reign of Diocletian both Cyprian and Justina were seized and taken to Damascus where they were shockingly tortured. With their Christian faith never wavering they were brought before Diocletian at Nicomedia, where at his command they were beheaded on the bank of the river Gallus. ….....…. And to continue: on September 26, 1901 Madame Horos and her husband supposedly raped a sixteen year old girl named Daisy Adams who was an initiate of their bogus Lodge of the Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn Lodge. From the sacred Temple, which was nothing more than the bedroom of the ‘swami’, a voice cried out, according to official court documents, of a girl saying, “Oh, Theo don’t ...” , but the courts proved that Theo did. …....... and on September 26, 1930 Dr. Leo Louis Martello was born in Dudley, Massachusetts. He claimed descent from a long line of Sicilian Witches. He gained notoriety on All Hallows Eve in 1970 by arranging the now infamous “Witch-in” in New York City's Central Park. At first the New York City Parks Department outright refused to issue a permit. However, they changed their minds when Leo secured the services of the New York Civil Liberties Union and threatened a lawsuit on behalf of a minority religion whose rights were being violated. The Witch-in was attended by 1,000 persons, and was filmed and made into a documentary by Global Village. In time, Leo founded the Witches Anti-Defamation League which later became known as the Witches Anti-Discrimination Lobby, or WADL. It was dedicated to ensuring all Witches' religious rights. By the late 1980's chapters of the League had been established in every state in the US. Although he published many books he is most remembered for: It's Written in the Cards (1964), It's Written in the Stars (1966), Weird Way of Witchcraft (1969), The Hidden World of Hypnotism (1969), Black Magic, Satanism and Voodoo (1972), Understanding the Tarot (1972) and Witchcraft: The Old Religion (1973). Dr. Leo Louis Martello passed away on June 29, 2000.

Friday September 25th 2009 – 5:40am The 'Private Talk' that was scheduled tonight at Love Sake's Clerk House has been canceled. This means that outsiders can attend tonight's 'Open House' if they'd like. There is no official topic, just bring questions etc and we'll figure the topic out as we go. I know it's a short notice but such is life. Please pass the word around if you know of someone who wants to attend. It begins at 6:30pm. Since this is around supper time feel free to bring food and drink, which doesn't have to be shared.

5:15pm The NEWS : Susan Atkins (born May 7, 1948) aka Sadie Mae Glutz, a former member of the Charles Manson family who admitted ruthlessly stabbing pregnant actress Sharon Tate to death in the cult's two-day killing spree in 1969, died Thursday night at 11:46pm in the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla from terminal brain cancer. She was 61. 1:00am For the history buffs: The Old Ferry Inn, Horning, in Norfolk, England had been an old mead house for centuries, dating back to Roman times when it was the site of a ferry crossing by the river. Legend has it that the haunting began due to an incident that happened centuries ago. This is when a group of monks were sitting outside drinking one afternoon when a pretty young local girl was seen walking along the nearby river bank. The monks, who were very drunk, grabbed the young girl and dragged her inside the mead house where they all proceeded to rape her. So violent was their attack that she died as a result of her ordeal. To hide the evidence of their drunken sins, the brothers dragged her body outside and threw it into the river. The ghost of this girl has been making her appearance known every twenty years at the site of her tragic end. The last noted sighting occurred on this date, the 25th of September in 1936. This is when her ghost was seen in a passageway of the Ferry Inn by the then landlord. He had dozed off in a chair and was awakened by the sound of a rustling of a dress. Looking up, he was terrified to see a figure of a girl in her early 20’s wearing a long greenish dress. What struck him the most was the girl’s face, which was unbelievably beautiful but deathly-white, and it had a painful look of suffering. The ghost slowly glided across the room and vanished through the front door. Although terrified the landlord followed and, upon opening the door, he saw the ghost disappearing into the river near the ferry. A guest staying at the inn that night also witnessed the apparition. Then, if this tragedy wasn’t enough for the site, on April 26, 1941 the Old Ferry Inn was destroyed by a direct hit from a German bomb during World War II.
