~ JANUARY 1st - 13th 2010 ~\

Wednesday January 13th 2010 – 4:20pm Faustus and I watched the movie THE EYE (2002) which is a Hong Kong-Singaporean-Thai horror film directed by the Pang Brothers. Very spooky, we both gave it a thumbs up on the scare-o-meter. I'll write my review and post it later this week but for now, I highly recommend it. ... This movie is not to be confused with the Hollywood remake starring Jessica Alba in 2008.

4:00pm Ed Wormuth writes - "93 Jerry,
Hope twenty ten is treating you well so far.  It has been mostly positive for me, Mercury in Retro non withstanding. [oh when will it end..how else will I be impeded, why don't I just keep quiet, I can't even throw darts straight; woe is me, woe is me etc,, etc... etc.] But seriously when will this damn thing end anyway?
Finally finished "Do What Thou Wilt" by Sutin...easily the most in depth Bio of Uncle Al that I have come across.  Especially shedding light on the last decade of his life and his relationships with Fortune, Grant and others that I really had little or no info about previously.  All in all an excellent read.
I polished off "The Goatfoot God" by Fortune at Christmas in time to get started on a present from my wife:  "The Masonic Magician" The life and death of Count Cagliostro and his Eqyptian Rite. by Faulks and Cooper.  This is a most interesting work so far especially as Crowley and Parsons both claimed the Count as a previous incarnation.
I'm sure the recent seismic activity here and in Haiti have caught a lot of your attention.  It seems that no one retro fitted Port au Prince.
Enough for now, it looks like no chance of visiting Beserkly before Feb.
    93 93/93, Ed."

11:35am Regarding the Practicus who fell, Mike writes -"93 Jer. Robert Flores always talked highly of you, of your magic and the knowledge that you taught him. You were the 'best', he was your most ardent supporter. But a friend just sent me a copy of his Face Book rants from a few weeks back. Why is he trashing you and your magic now? Would you like a copy of these rants to see what he said about you and if so, are you ever going to publish them? I would love to read your commentary. I dont see how anyone can beleive what this guy is saying. ... I also own Shikoku, not sure I like it. I might give it a thumbs down. 93 93/93 Michael"

Reply: I have a copy already, thank you. And no, I have no plans to publish them on this website. People don't need to see how far Robert has sunk. I have studied magick since the sixties and have seen dozens of types like him. People who accomplish well within a system up to the point where they can go no further. It is not an 'automatic' guarantee to be able to climb the Tree of Life from a magickal point of view. Robert hit a stumbling block. One which I thought was easily fixed and capable of allowing him to move forward but his ego got in the way. How dare I suggest that he 'made a mistake!' So he quit. Sadly, rather than being gracious and taking the high road in order to show that he's the better person in a spiritual sense, Robert came out crying, bad mouthing and trashing all that we stand for magickally in a most vile and contemptible manner; utter gutter sniping. That is Robert's legacy - if you don't patronize 'his' beliefs that he's never made a mistake then he'll trash you and lie through his teeth, twisting facts and vomiting like a disgruntled cry baby in need of a diaper change. In other words; psychology 101; his type has to 'trash' the Qabalah, magick and all that we in Grady McMurtry's A.'.A.'. stands for because, in his feeble little mind, it justifies why he didn't fail - it's not him, it's us and the system!
And there will always be people who'll believe whatever a person like him vomits. Consider what Crowley wrote - "... any man with energy ought to be able to bring at least a dozen others round to his opinion in the course of a year no matter how absurd that opinion might be." In other words; it doesn't prove a thing if he finds others patronizing his views, except that wingnuts congregate together.
Ah, Shikoku is a strange film, not for everyone. Personally, I like it. We talked previously about Ab-Normal Beauty. Have you seen this yet?

7:25am For the history buffs: John Dee, the notorious Elizabethan magician, finished writing his classic treatise titled The Monas Heiroglyphica on this date in 1564, after having begun it 13 days earlier. …..…. Also, Clark Ashton Smith was born on this date in Long Valley, California in 1893. He wrote a classic set of stories titled: Out of Space and Time. Many argue that some of his stories clearly belong into Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos category. He has also written such stories as The Weird of Avoosl Wuthoqquan, The City of the Singing Flame, The End of the Story, A Night in Malnéant, The Double Shadow and The Return of the Sorcerer. Clark Ashton Smith died in California in August 1961 at the age of 68. …...... Andrew Jackson Davis the famous ‘Poghkeepsie Seer’ died on this date in 1910 at the age of 83. He was born in Blooming Grove, New York in 1826, many believe him to be the one of the founders of modern Spiritualism. In 1844 he had a strange experience that had an enduring effect on the rest of his life. It seems, in a state of semi-trance, he wandered away from home and awoke the next morning 40 miles away in the mountains. It was here that he met two venerable spirits; the ancient physician Galen and the Swedish seer Emanuel Swedenborg. The following year, while in an altered state in November 1845, Davis began to dictate his great work, The Principles of Nature, Her Divine Revelations and a Voice to Mankind. All were published in 1847. ……. Dr. Morris Jessup receives his first letter from Carlos Miguel Allende on this date in 1956 which dealt with Einstein’s unified field theory and the real experiments on board a U.S. destroyer which had vanished without a trace in a harbor in Philadelphia. Some individuals actually believe that the movie titled The Philadelphia Experiment was just a fictitious story to amuse the masses.

Tuesday January 12th 2010 – 5:55pm In regards to Sunday's 7:10am posting, Dave Solina from Florida writes - "I downloaded Shikoku and will have my own solo Japanese horror night here." ... I replied -"It's more a love story than horror" ... To which he quickly fired back - "Love story.. now that is true horror."   .... Reply: Ah Dave, you've been married too long! Anyway, I posted my Movie Review of the Japanese film Shikoku which we all watched here Saturday night during Faustus' birthday party. As I've said, the goal of the film is not really to frighten anyone, which it achieves but instead it is suppose to be somewhat of a sad and romantic story of life, death and love.
We could say that the movie is a story of the love between a beautiful girl named Sayori and of a boy named Fumiy. I think that maybe they are an Aries and Leo?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12:10pm I've gotten alot of outlandish emails these last few weeks which I have simply not answered, nor will I.  In other words, rather than reaming the ass of some students and friends alike for being presumptuous, arrogant or incredibly disrespectful, I am biting my tongue. Hey everyone, Mercury is Retrograde!  Think before you write!  And remember, simply because I have written to you in the past do not assume familiarity during those moments when a Teacher/Student relationship is in the forefront. I suppose not everyone has the ability to differentiate these boundaries and as a Teacher I probably need to reinforce this from time to time. Anyway, all students need to be very clear as to what they are thinking and writing. I'm tired of trying to decipher craziness and psycho babble and so, if I haven't answered your email of late ... there is a reason. Clarity of thought is everything in magick.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11:20am Ricky sent an email last weekend but I was swamped with work, with son and other etcs. Anyway, he writes – “Jerry 93, Last night I wrote to you this thought:  "This may be a stupid question but I must ask. Flaunting my pestilence with pride I was discussing Liber AL with a friend and came across something I had never noticed before. Aiwass declares himself the Minister of Hoor-Paar-kraat. This took me by surprise tonight because this is Harpocrates the silent part of Heru-ra-ha. What is the significance of this? My first thoughts on this were in the vein of the AEon of the Daughter the silent self. but I'm not really sure that's correct. What are your thoughts on this?" ... But I think last nights dance with Dionysus had me prematurely sending an incomplete thought. I think I should explain my question more clearly. It is basically this. It seems that there is a mystery here in the fact that Aiwass is the Minister of only Hoor-Paar-kraat and not of any other. This struck me as strange for the reason that Hoor-Paar-kraat is only the Silent Self, Harpocrates which could be looked at as our personal HGA? In Aiwass delivering the entire Book of the Law would he not be the Minister of Heru Ra ha to include both Hoor-Paar-kraat and Ra Hoor Khuit? What are your thoughts on this? 93 93/93  Ricky.”

Reply: We know that at the beginning of every Age from Taurus, Aries, Pisces and now Aquarius, religions have emerged which attempt to define the subtle changes in the astral current surrounding our planet. We also know that on the most simplistic level Aiwass is “the minister of Hoor-paar-kraat” (AL I:7) or, as Aleister Crowley wrote in Introduction to Liber AL Vel Legis (1938), “a messenger from the forces ruling this earth at present.”  He is, of course, telling us that the old Age of Pisces has given way to Aquarius and with a new Astrological current comes new Laws.
Being a herectic; under the vein of Jack Parsons and Grady McMurtry; I am reminded that on April 8th, 9th and 10th Crowley was dictated The Book of The Law, one chapter each day at approximately noon; three chapters in all. The controversial part to understanding the Aeons is seen in the attempts made by Aleister Crowley to give Egyptian god attributes to the Aeons as they related to Liber AL vel Legis. Many Thelemites blindly follow what he has written. Others believe Crowley’s logic was tainted by his old Aeonic soul and by society’s immature understanding of Aeons and Egyptology, both of which were in their infant stages of unfoldment while he was alive. This may sound harsh but is obvious by his writings.
Crowley acknowledges only three Aeons which he claims began with Isis (the woman), then Osiris (the man) and now Horus (the son).  In a way, he is correct when considering the Aeonic order of mother, then father and then the son. However, he screws up by assuming the present age of Aquarius is the ‘son’ ruled by the God Ra-Hoor-Khuit (Horus) because of the god’s implications with Liber AL vel Legis. He then places the previous age of Pisces under the rulership of Osiris, a father figure, simply because of the Aeon’s dying god aspect in relationship to solar cults of birth, life and death which flourished during its period. The age before he refers to as the mother, or the Goddess Isis. In other words, he narrow-mindedly gave these attributes to the Aeons simply to reflect the three chapters in Liber AL vel Legis as if each chapter was unfolding the mysteries of humanities evolution on the Earth. A sort of guide from beginning to end.
Since Crowley believed that the age of Aquarius was that of the son he automatically looked at Chapter Three which was the words of the Sun, Ra-Hoor-Khuit (Horus-son) as representing the secrets behind the present age. Crowley then believed that Chapter Two of Liber AL vel Legis, being that of the Goddes Nu or the hiding of Hadit must refers to the Osirian Aeon and the father 'manifested' which logic then dictates that Chapter One which is Hadit, refers to the Goddess Nuit unmanifested, the mother reflective, and must refer to the Aeon of Isis … and for this reason; three chapters equal only three aeons.  He is, of course, correct to some extent but his views tend to ignore the over-all symbolic progression of earlier Aeons.
First of all, Crowley wrongly interprets the Piscean age as being that of the Father Osiris without clearly considering the previous two Aeons. He lumps the Aeons of Taurus and Aries under one category ruled by Isis (Nuit) which is not only an unscientific approach to the subject of Aeonic progression but totally ludicrous. The Aeon of Pisces was obviously not that of the father but that of the Son of God, or the Christ who manifested in flesh upon our Earth. In many respects the Piscean Aeon was that of Horus, the God of speech or utterance, which represents manifestation of a God outward onto this plane. It was Christ who brought forth the message that a God could incarnate in a human body and it is in this Aeon that every man, woman and child shall fulfill it. ... The old Aeonic speech aspect of Horus (Ra-Hoor-Khuit) is in direct contrast to his brother Set (Hoor-paar-kraat), the God of Silence, whose Aquarian message is for humanity to go within, discover your own Star and become as Christ was, a Son (Sun) of God. This may well be the reason why The Book of the Law was dictated by a Messenger of Hoor-paar-kraat and not Ra-Hoor-Khuit.
In other words, the ultimate mission of Hoor-paar-kraat is to teach us what has transpired over the course of the three previous Aeons of humanity. If we grasp his message, we have the clues as to how we can spiritually evolve. And by the end of this Aeon the two brothers will merge in order to produce Heru-Ra-Ha.

7:10am For the history buffs: Swami Vivekananda, Hindu mystic, major exponent of Vedanta philosophy, was born on this date in Calcutta in 1863. His birth name was Narendra Nath Datta. He was a student of Ramakrishna. Aleister Crowley, liked Vivekananda’s writings but stated that his book titled Raja Yoga “is very good indeed, if you remember to switch off when he slides into sloppiness.” He wrote classic works on Jnana, Raja, Karma and Bhakti yoga. He died in bed on July 4, 1902 at the age of 39. …....... also, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was born on this date in the village of Chichli, India in 1917. He was the founder of the Transcendental Meditation movement, or TM. Many skeptics believe his vedic flying to be little more than “bouncing” around the floor “like an idiot.” Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was briefly a mentor to The Beatles. …....... and keeping with the theme, George Joseph Kresge Jr., more commonly known as ‘The Amazing Kreskin’, was born on this date in Montclair, New Jersey in 1935. With a showman’s flair and comedian’s wit, he built up a show business career on his apparent ability to read people’s thoughts. His weekly TV show titled The Amazing World of Kreskin was a syndicated hit from 1971 to 1975 with Kreskin ‘amazing’ his studio audiences by guessing people’s birthdays or deciphering the pips on hidden playing cards. While always vague about the exact nature of his skills, he denied being a psychic or mind-reader and preferred to call himself a bona fide mentalist. …....... And finally, according to Arthur C. Clark’s book 2001: A Space Odyssey, January 12th was the birthdate of ‘HAL 9000’ in Urbana, Illinois. Oddly, the movie version of the book changed the date to March 12th.

Monday January 11th 2010 – 8:45am For the history buffs: William James was born on this date in New York in 1842. In 1864 he entered Harvard School of Medicine and, although graduating as an MD, he chose not to practice medicine. Instead he started teaching psychology at Harvard where he established the first American psychology laboratory. He advocated the use of drugs and it is a well known fact that he experimented with hashish, ate peyote and bathed in nitrous oxide, his drug of choice. He admits that this drug played a major role in how he ‘saw’ things in order to write. Commenting that inhaling the gas produced “a tremendously exciting sense of intense metaphysical illumination.” He wrote an excellent piece titled Subjective Effects of Nitrous Oxide (1882). In this he wrote, “Our normal, waking consciousness, rational consciousness as we call it, is but one special type of consciousness, whilst all about it, parted from it by the flimsiest of screens, there lie potential forms of consciousness entirely different.” He also published a twelve-hundred page work titled The Principles of Psychology (1890). William James died on August 26, 1910 of heart failure at his summer home in New Hampshire. …....…. Also of importance, Aleister Crowley and his Scarlet Woman Leah Hirsig swore an oath on this date in 1920 in Paris to establish an Abbey of Thelema at Cefalu on the island of Sicily. …....… and finally, Karl Germer, the Outer Head of the Order (O.H.O.) of the Ordo Templi Orientis writes to his British representative Noel Fitzgerald on this date in 1956 that the only person in England who has the Ninth Degree Paper entitled Emblems and Mode of Use is Gerald Yorke and he was ordered “not to show it to Grant”, meaning Kenneth Grant, whom Germer had expelled the previous summer.

Sunday January 10th 2010 – 7:10am Today my son Faustus turns 14. Last night a bunch of us gathered at my house to celebrate and watch bad Asian movies. We bought a huge 'birthday' pepperoni pizza but unfortunately we could only get five candles to stand up in the hot cheese. After eating, then making lots and lots of popcorn etc, we all began watching the Japanese ghost story Shikoku (1999) followed by the ever popular The Vampire Effect (2003). I reviewed The Vampire Effect in one of my movie pages already; click HERE.  It was a crowd pleaser last night. ... As for Shikoku, I'll review it soon; but I should mention that although Kuriyama Chiaki, aka Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill, is on the cover of this DVD, her presence as the ‘villain’ in this horror film is not that extensive. The goal of the film [so it is said] is not really to frighten anyone, which it achieves but instead it is suppose to be somewhat of a sad and romantic story of life, death and love. ... It was a fun night.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:00am For the history buffs: only two things to report. First, the classic film title Metropolis by Fritz Lang premiered on this date in 1927. It was based on a book written by German author Thea von Horbou. The movie takes place in the future where humans are divided into two categories. There are the thinkers, who make plans but don’t know how anything actually works, and then there are the workers, who achieve goals but obviously don’t have any vision. Completely separated, neither group is really complete, but together they make a whole. The movie’s plot begins when one man from the ‘thinkers’ dares visit the underground where the workers toil, and he is astonished by what he sees. …......... and second, Francis King was born on this date in England in 1934. He joined the military at an early age and fought in the Korea War where he was captured, tortured and ‘brain washed.’ For years after the war he was a shattered man and according to his own accounts; able only to sell ice cream at a stand at Bournemouth Beach. After recovering, and many years later, he began writing and publishing over twenty books; such as Ritual Magic in England (1970), Sexuality, Magic and Perversion (1972), Techniques of High Magic (1976), The Magical World of Aleister Crowley (1978) and Tantra for Westerners (1986). He became so disgusted in later years with people constantly mistaking him for the novelist, also known as ‘Francis King’, that he added an ‘X’ to his name, which he claimed stood for Xavier and thus he became known as Francis X King. He died on November 8, 1994. Of course, his infamy came in occult circles when he edited and released the now classic thorn titled The Secret Rituals of the O.T.O. (1974) which contained all the secret initiation rituals and many of the upper degree sexual Grade Papers of the Ordo Templi Orientis.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday January 9th 2010 – 10:00am Admittedly, I’m running a bit late today. It was a good Open House last night. Anyway, for the history buffs: The bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death, killed a fourth of the European population in just three years time. In Basel, Switzerland, not understanding that humans got the plague when bitten by fleas and then spread it by coughing, the townspeople came up with the ludicrous belief that the disease was caused by the Jews. In retaliation for causing the ‘plague’ six hundred Jews were forced into a huge wooden house on this date in 1349 which was then set on fire. They all burnt to death. One hundred and forty children were also taken from their parents and forcibley baptized which officially ended the Jewish presence in the town, but not the bubonic plague. ….....…. Also, Jimmy Patrick Page was born on this date in London, England in 1944. In late 1968 he, along with Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones, formed the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin. Their 1969 debut album was a unique blend of heavy rock and the blues, while their second album soared to the top of the charts with such hits like Whole Lotta Love. Throughout the 1970s Led Zeppelin was considered one of rock’s most successful acts. Jimmy Page was becoming a ‘guitar god’ famous for his strange obsessions with the occult as much as for his heavy riffs. In fact, he even bought Aleister Crowley’s mansion called Boleskine over looking the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland. There are those who said Page was convinced that Crowley’s ghost haunted the mansion, and that Page frequently tried to contact it through séances and spiritual readings. Then disaster struck; the band’s drummer Bonham died in 1980 and soon thereafter Led Zeppelin disbanded. Some blame these tragedies, and many others, on something Jimmy Page unwittingly unleashed while dabbling in the occult.

Friday January 8th 20010 –  Tonight's OPEN HOUSE is closed to outsiders of our A.'.A.'., unless you have visited before. Please call in advance to verify if you are unsure if you can attend. The meeting begins at 6:30pm; and being near supper, feel free to bring something to eat and drink and don't feel obligated to bring enough for anyone other than yourself.   Although extra beer is always welcomed.

9:45am One of the latest movies that I watched, which I enjoyed, is called THE TRACEY FRAGMENTS (2007) This movie is based on a novel by the same name written by Maureen Medved. Fragments is a good title because it symbolizes perfectly the filming style of split screens that is used with such aesthetic care in order that we might view the multiple perspectives of Tracey, a young girl who gives us insight into her mind by uttering – “How do you know what's real and not real when the whole world is inside your head?” Basically, the movie tells the story of a feisty independent-minded flat-chested fifteen year old Canadian girl, played by the actress Ellen Page; who was also the main character in HARD CANDY (2006) and JUNO (2007).    Click HERE for details.

8:55am Frater Shiva sent me this email - "Hi Jerry, The next installment in the metaphysical cartoon series is the Banishing Ritual. Even though one is supposed to Banish before Invoking. Although it's billed as "new," it is a composite of the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram, the Star Ruby, and the Adorations, and it's been in continual use since 1986. It has been described as "balanced" in respect to other versions.
It can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W65MR99Pe-A

5:25am For the history buffs, a lot has happened on this date and I’ll give you about half: Samuell Liddell `MacGregor’ Mathers was born on this date in England in 1854. He was described by W. B. Yeats as, “a Jacobite who believed in the overthrow of Queen Victoria and the restoration of the Stuarts” and “imagined a Napoleonic role for himself, Europe transformed according to his fancy, Egypt restored, a Highland principality, and even offered subordinate posts to unlikely people.” He was also said to be a man who studied only two subjects - magic and the theory of war. On August 8, 1887 Rev. A. F. A. Woodford sent the infamous ‘cypher manuscript’ to Dr. William Wynn Westcott after obtaining it from the papers of Fred Hockley who had recently died. Westcott would then give the papers to Samuel L. MacGegor Mathers and thus was the reported beginning of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn which became official in 1888.  His magickal mottos in this fraternity were Deo Duce Comite Ferro (With God as My Leader and the Sword as My Companion) and 'S Rioghail Mo Dhream (Gaelic for Royal is My Race). He was married to Moina Bergson and from 1894 on, the couple lived in Paris, where they founded an Ahathoor Temple. It is here they celebrated an Egyptian Mass with much stately ceremonial in honor of the goddess Isis, whose religion he was attempting to revive. He wrote many things but of interests are his translation of ancient text such as The Qabbalah Unveiled (1888), The Key of Solomon the King: Clavicula Solomonis (1889) and The Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage (1896) to name but a few. Mathers died in November of 1918. The cause of death was listed as ‘unknown’ on his death certificate but friends around him said that it was the result of Spanish influenza which was sweeping the continent. ….....…. also, Dennis Yates Wheatley was born on this date in South London in 1897. Wheatley was an acquaintance of the Great Beast, Aleister Crowley. In fact, he and Maxwell Knight, the British spy-master during World War II of MI5, both “jointly applied to Crowley as novices and he accepted them as pupils.” However, Wheatley’s interest in Crowley’s group was purely academic and he claimed that, he was merely studying magic for use in his novels. He wrote such classic novels as The Devil Rides Out (1934), They Found Atlantis (1936), To The Devil - A Daughter (1953), The Ka of Gifford Hillary (1956), The Satanist (1960), and of Crowleyean interest, his biography titled Drink and Ink - Memoirs 1919-1977 (1979). Wheatley would describe Crowley as “a well-dressed middle-aged eccentric with the manner of an Oxford don.” Wheatley died on November 10, 1977. ….....…. and abit of frivolous history, the noted TV show host and comic named Soupy Sales was born on this date in Franklinton, North Carolina in 1926. His popular children’s show which began as a replacement for Kukla, Fran and Ollie in 1955 was suspended for a week in 1965 after he told all the children who were watching to go to “your parent's wallet”, take out those “little green pieces of paper” and send them to me. Many of his jokes went well over his young audience’s heads but inevitably they got him kicked off the air. Most notable of these was his comment, “My wife can't make a cherry pie worth a cent, but boy oh boy, does she know how to make a banana cream!” ….....…. and Violet Mary Firth is the real name of Dion Fortune. She died of acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 55 on this date in 1946. In 1919 she joined the Alpha and Omega Lodge of Stella Matutina of The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. She derived the name Dion Fortune from the magical motto which she adopted when joining which was “Deo Non Fortuna,” which means “by God, not chance.” In 1929 she left the Order and founded a Community (later called Fraternity) of the Inner Light. She wrote numerous books throughout her life. Such as, The Secrets of Dr. Taverner (1926), The Demon Lover (1927), Sane Occultism (1929); The Training and Work of an Initiate (1930), Psychic Self-Defense (1930),  Through the Gates of Death (1932), The Mystical Qabalah (1936), The Goat-Foot God (1936), The Winged Bull (1936), and The Sea-Priestess (1938) to name only a few. When Aleister Crowley published The Book of Thoth he sent her a copy inscribed to the “Priestess of Selene.” ….....…. and finally, David Robert Jones was born on this date at 40 Stansfield Road, Brixton, London in 1947. He would grow up, change his name and become better known as the rock legend David Bowie. He is reported to have always had a fascination with the occult and especially Aleister Crowley. When he released his album Hunky Dory in November of 1971 it contained a song called Quicksand which contains the verse; “I’m closer to the Golden Dawn. Immersed in Crowley’s uniform. All in a dream.”

Thursday January 7th 2010 – 1:50pm My new favorite video - Lady GaGa's Bad Romance.   Nice.   Did I mention she's an Aries?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10:20am About ten minutes ago my apartment shook. Not a big one, but very, very noticeable. I quickly checked the U.S.G.S. site and read – “A light earthquake occurred at 10:09:35 AM (PST) on Thursday, January 7, 2009. The magnitude 4.1 event occurred 10 km (6 miles) ENE of Milpitas, CA. The hypocentral depth is 9 km ( 6 miles)." ... Wow, its far south of me but I still felt it. To check out the local Earthquake Map; click HERE.

Notes: And to add: five small earthquake followed; two 1.5s, two 1.6s and just now at 10:36am a 2.2 magnitude. All in Milpitas between 10:19am and 10:36am. I didn't feel these. ... 10.54am Another small earthquake hit in Milpitas - 2.3 magnitude. ... The quake is all over the NEWS; it was felt all over the Bay Area. Our area is littered with fault line; the three biggest running north to south are called the Calavaris, Hayward and the San Andres; my apartment sits almost exactly on top of the one in the middle called the Hayward fault, today's quakes occurred on the Calavaris.

6:50am For the history buff: Queen Catherine of Aragon died on this date in 1536 at Kimbolton Castle in Cambridgeshire, England, either from cancer or by poisoning. Following the news of his former wife’s death, King Henry VIII held a ball at Greenwich to celebrate the glorious occasion. He wore a bright yellow suit. A large portion of the South Wing of the Castle later collapsed in 1707 but the Queen’s private Chamber remained intact, and it is in this Chamber that the lonely Queen still returns as a ghost, seen robed in a white dress and wearing her crown. Another ghost of the castle is that of Sir John Popham, who was Lord Chief Justice during the reign of Elizabeth I, who after death, just as he had done in life, lies in wait for poachers in the park. He has also been seen on many occasions sitting on a wall, ready to pounce on any intruder. A third ghost is that of an unidentified child who had been flung from one of the castle’s windows to meet a dreadful death on the flagstones below. …....…. Also, on this date in 1883, largely at the request of Madame Blavatsky who was living in India, Anna Bonus Kingsford was elected president of the British Theosophical Society in London. Aleister Crowley once wrote that, “this woman, though handicapped by a brain that was a mass of putrid pulp, and a complete lack of social status, education, and moral character, did more in the religious world than other person had done for generations. She, and she alone, made Theosophy possible, and without Theosophy the world-wide interest in similar matters could never have been aroused.”  …....…. and Charles ‘Chas’ Samuel Addams was born on this date in Westfield, New Jersey in 1912. He is the artist best known for his one-panel outlandish comic strip called The Adam’s Family. It had a lovable cast of characters from the father Gomez and his wife Morticia, to their two children named Wednesday and Pugsly, and of course a butler named Lurch.  …....…. And to keep with the flavor of today, William Peter Blatty, American screenwriter and novelist, who gained international fame with the theological horror tale known as The Exorcist (1973), was born on this date in New York City, NY in 1928. …....….  and Nikola Tesla died on this date in a New York hotel room in 1943. Earlier, a Federal Judge had ruled that Tesla was the true inventor of the radio even after his strange view of openly proclaiming to everyone that its crystals were actual ‘living beings.’  …....….  And for the UFO people; Captain Thomas Mantell was flying his P-51 Mustang in hot pursuit of a UFO on this day near Fort Knox, Kentucky when all of a sudden his plane blew up and crashed on January 7th 1948. His last words were, “. . . metallic and tremendous in size.” Be that utterance as it may, the official government explanation of his crash was, and I quote; that “Mantell died from a lack of oxygen while chasing the planet Venus.”  …....…. And finally, I want to mention that a motorist was startled on this date by a giant bird in 1976. He claimed it was an actual Pterodactyl, standing aggressively in the middle of the deserted road in Mexico with his wings wrapped around his body and whose eyes glared at him as he sped by. It was the second such sighting of this creature, the first being on January 1st.

Wednesday January 6th 2010 – 8:23am Mike writes [in part] - "Shouldn't the general rule of thumb during a Mercury Retrograde be to do nothing? My astrology books seems to imply such." ..... Reply: The world doesn't stop during a Mercury Retrograde nor are 'all' words and actions producing utter folly. So, what is the distinction between those who go through this period unscathed and those who spend weeks removing their foot from their throat?  Besides having positive qualities in their birth charts which allow some people to seemingly be unaffected by certain Mercury Retrogrades, it is also their upbringing before puberty where the Foundation Stones of Free Will are established. In other words; some people grow up naturally slaves to the forces while others grow up understanding how to utilize them properly. Remember, no astrological aspect is 100% good or bad. As an example: fire can either burn or it can be a valuable asset. Astrologer like to take things toward the 'negative' too much and warn you about the 'fire' ... but as a Thelemite, I am not a pawn to anything unless I want to be. So I take the fire and cook something really nice for lunch.  So, what are you doing 'positively' with this Mercury Retrograde?

This Mercury Retrograde is in Capricorn. Study it well. Capricorn rules the Tarot card of The Devil, the Lord of Illusions. This is the sign of the goat, the animal who stands on the mountain top over seeing his world or life below, or more appropriately reviewing the life that has lead them to the summit; you can either lift the veils binding you to the world or you'll wear chains to it. The 10th house of Capricorn also represents the challenges that you will face trying to earn respect and recognition as you evolved outward into the world in which you have incarnated. It is the house of aims, ambitions and the direction that you’ve chosen, as well as being a pawn to in regards to the course of your life. As I have written in other places:

"Although many astrologers point out that the First House rules the Ego, others point out that the
Ego is also ruled by the Tenth House. This is because the Ego, rooted in the Sun, is bathed in an
inner and outer duality between justifiable and false; our Higher Self (MC-Tenth House) and our
Lower Self (First House); or ‘Do what thou Wilt’ and ‘Do what thou Want.’ The First House aspect
of the Ego is often referred to as false because it is rooted in the ‘Lower Self’ which is more
commonly called your ‘Personality’ or the image that is seen and interpreted by others, not
necessarily a reflection of the ‘inner person’ as it is understood and concealed by the individual
themselves in their Tenth House."

So, how is this Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn affecting you, or better yet, how are you letting it affect you?

8:08am Wow, Berkeley just got rattled by an earthquake on the Hayward Fault. I thought I felt something so I went on the U.S.G.S site and sure enough, we had a 2.1 magnitude quake at 8:04am. It's odd that I felt something so tiny but, as anyone out here knows, it all depends upon the building you live in and on which floor.  If I felt this burp I can only wonder what a huge one will do to this apartment?

Dave Miles writes – “Jerry, You posted in your Blog that the BIG one was coming----Hopefully, the 2.1 the BIG one. Damn those Sea Lions!  Again, I felt nothing. David” ... I thought to myself, a 2.1 is no big one. I replied – “I was hoping for at least 6."

[for Sea Lions and earthquakes check out 5:18pm posting on December 29th 2009]

7:45am Heather sent an email re: this craziness of late – “93 Um this is all just silly since Mercury is in retrograde still and it's a particularly brutal one I must say because I'm frustrated as hell that it's taken me practically all day long just to get a media file to someone so they could edit it... Anyway fucking chill out you guys and let it pass!! Try again in a week alright?! Hello? ooga booga nar nar nar.. yarp 93 93/93 Heather.”

Reply – I have been trying to tell everyone to do just that, to bit their tongue and don't put anything into writing that they'll regret during a Mercury Retrograde. It is a dangerous time for anyone who is too focused only into this plane ... anyway, it is obvious that everyone is forgetting that Mercury’s energies, which are usually directed toward outward expression, must be focused inward, away from the world and if only they carefully meditate before they ‘type’ they wouldn’t be doing such silliness. I find it all so sad. A Mercury Retrograde for a magician is actually a powerful tool for their Intellect if used correctly because it allows us the ability to go within and analysis things but the rule of thumb; whatever conclusions you come to – keep them to yourself! This is because what transpires in the mind as ‘epiphanies’ often gets jumbled in the translation during a Mercury Retrograde, once it manifests onto paper ... and thus communication fails.

6:45am For the history buffs: lots to report, first Jeanne da Arc, more commonly known as Joan of Arc, or the Maid of Orléans and the hero of the Hundred Years War, was born on this date in Dormy, France in 1412. She was a simple peasant girl who had claimed to hear the voices of ‘saints’ telling her that she must help the Dauphin gain the throne of France. She let these voices guide her throughout her life and also on the battle field where the voices urged her to save France from English domination. She had a lot in common with Marshall Gille de Rais who fought at her side, both were said to be reckless in battle; they both preferred a simple response to any given situation; they both had a sense of occasion, of the theatrical; and they both shared a fondness for fine clothes. Sadly, not long after helping the Dauphin be crowned King Charles the VIIth, Joan was captured by the English, who tried her as a heretic, found her guilty and burned her at the stake in 1431. …......... also, Khalil Gibran was born on this date in 1883 in the mountain village of Bsharri, Lebanon. At the age 12 his family immigrated to Boston, where he lived for three years before returning to the University of Beirut. He was a very prolific writer, but is mostly known for his book titled The Prophet (1923) which Gibran summarizes: “The whole Prophet is saying one thing: You are far greater than you know, and all is well.” Besides writing one of the best-selling books of all time, he is also a talented artist. In fact, when Auguste Rodin wanted his official portrait done, he commissioned Gibran to do the work.  Gibran died on April 10, 1931 of cancer in New York City hospital, at age 48. …......... and Albert Hoffmann was born on this date in 1911. He was the brilliant Swiss chemist, author and philosopher; and the retired Director of the Pharmaceutical-Chemical Research Laboratories of Sandoz Ltd., Basel. He is best known for fathering his “problem child” or discovering LSD on April 19, 1943. …......... other notable people born on January 6th are Ena Twigg the well known British medium in 1914, Dr. John Cunningham Lilly in 1915, Alan Watts in 1915, Sun Myung Moon in 1920 who was the leader of the Unification Church, Doris Sutton also in 1920 the author of Voices In My Ear (1980) …......... and I should finally point out that upon learning that Karl Germer, the head of the Ordo Templi Orientis, had died in October of 1962 Hermann Metzger (Frater Paragranus) of Switzerland summoned all his close friends on January 6th 1963 for an election. He later acknowledged that they “unanimously elected” him; “the Very Illustrious + H. Josephus M*, Fra.*Paragranus, Grand Master X° of the Order of Oriental Templars, Sovereign Grand Master-General of the Ordo Illuminatorum, Sovereign Grand Master General of Fraternitas Rosicruciana Antiqua, and Sovereign Patriarch Ecclesiæ Gnosticæ Catholicæ henceforth to be Sovereign Grand Master-General, Outer Head of the Order of the Ordo Templi Orientis.” This sounds all well and good and very impressive, but since no other IX°s in the entire world were even notified of the elections being held, Metzger never gained any credence outside his own circle of friends who elected him. …......... And finally, on January 6, 2003 Douglas Herrick died in Casper, Wyoming. His claim to fame began in 1932. This is when he and his brother Ralph were returning from a hunting trip when they came upon a dead rabbit. Douglas later stated, “We just throwed the dead jack rabbit in the shop when we come in and it slid on the floor right up against a pair of deer horns we had in there.” His brother jokingly said, “It looked like that rabbit had horns on it.” To which Douglas replied, “Let's mount that thing!” This was the origins of perhaps the tackiest totem of the American West  the jackalope (Lepus temperamentalus), a half bunny, half antelope creature which became an instant tourist trap. According to the ‘stories’ the jackalope was a hybrid of the pygmy-deer and a species of killer-rabbit. It was reported that the Jackalope can convincingly imitate any sound, including the human voice and it uses this ability to elude pursuers. To this day the jackalope is still an infamous character; appearing in such television shows as America’s Funniest People, where it would laugh a lot while playing mean tricks on people.

January 6   This is the Feast of Epiphany, or the Twelfth Day of Christmas. The Greek word ‘Epiphany’ implies the manifestation of something spiritual or divine. In the Christian sense, the 12th Day is when Christ was shown to the world by the Three Wise Men. Oddly, throughout Europe, the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany are often considered ‘evil’ or a ‘witching time’ and the Twelfth Night is when all the ‘evil’ is finally expelled. In Greek tradition it is believed that when Christ was born, so too were the demons known as Kallikantzaroi. They are the souls of ‘unbaptised babies’ who manifest to torment people. In fact, it was believed that children born at Christmas most likely would become a Kallikantzaroi in the flesh as a punishment for their mothers’ sin in bearing them at a time sacred to the Mother of God. In Macedonia the Kallikantzaroi were believed to be real people whose Holy Guardian Angel underwent an evil transformation. Other legends say that during the Twelfth Day of Christmas these mischievous creatures ride around on chickens, they steal infants and they are said to wear wooden or iron boots with which they kick people, while in other areas it was believed that these imps aren’t shod at all but hooved. Of all the beliefs which are consistent in most countries the most humorist is the idea that Kallikantzaroi enjoys urinating in your groceries. Some legends even claim that they take the form of wolves or monkeys. The Kallikantzaroi cannot come into a house uninvited; a black cross or X painted on your door keeps them out and in the mean time they normally hover around lakes and crossroads. However, they are good at imitating the voices of a loved one in order to trick a person into opening their door or window. On the Twelfth Night is the Greek feast known as Kalanda when all Kallikantzaroi are expelled in a ceremonial blessing of the waters by the local priest which, it is believed, will settle these nasty little creatures until the next year.

Tuesday January 5th 2010 – 8:40pm The NEWS: We were hit by an earthquake tonight in Oakland at 7:45pm; it was 1.9 magnitude. No biggie. Its center was about a mile from my apartment but I didn't feel it. Then again, with all the beer I've drank, I'm not feeling much of anything right now.   :)-

5:22pm Ricky writes - Hey Jerry 93!  Like Ben this doubt stuff has got me thinking too! From your post I was reminded of Kephale 51 "Terrier-Work". This Doubt seems to be our fuel for the fire of aspiration here below the Abyss. Doubt invokes Change because it reduces certainty. Certainty gives birth to contentment and contentment is the death of progression and so Crowley instructs us:

   Doubt.
   Doubt thyself.
Doubt even if thou doubtest thyself.
   Doubt all.
Doubt even if thou doubtest all.
It seems sometimes as if beneath all conscious doubt
there lay some deepest certainty.  O kill it!  Slay the snake!
The horn of the Doubt-Goat be exalted! Dive deeper, ever deeper, into
the Abyss of Mind, until thou unearth the fox THAT. On, hounds!
Yoicks!  Tally-ho!  Bring THAT to bay!
   Then, wind the Mort!

Reply: Wow I had totally forgotten about those sections regarding 'doubt', thanks for reminding me. Great stuff. ... For others, read The Book of Lies Chapter 51 titled Terrier-Work and then Magick Without Tears Chapter 29 titled What is Certainty?

4:15pm Frater Raj-El of Star Splendour Clerk House writes:
93 Jerry,
I know it’s been awhile.  I’ve been busy with the responsibility of raising the son.  Yes, give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s, and I have neglected giving to God what is God’s.  Still, I have the occasional question / reflection, and I have no doubt God will get his in the end.
I’ve read over the blog for the past few months, and I wanted to bounce off you some of the thoughts it has stirred into me, and get your opinion as to whether or not it is in the way of proper magickal thinking.
Truth is the enemy of doubt, and is constant despite the false projections of mind (Ruach).  It is mind that creates doubt, and shadows, especially about the self.  Truth is not created by mind, but it is true that mind creates.  Mind creates Truth through proper thinking, remembering that Truth originates externally yet vertically, but dwells internally, to be reflected horizontally.  The khabs is in the khu, not the khu in the khabs.
It seems that in scientific illuminism, as in other scientific disciplines, observation is important.  In the hard sciences the pretenders are outed eventually because their results are unable to be observed (repeated) by others; it seems the horizontal reflection of Truth must also have some measure of success.  In magick one of the most difficult things to do is learn to objectively view oneself with the measure of Truth, I’m glad you are still around to offer a perspective to the rest of us.  I was just speaking with AW about how you don’t pull punches, and tell people how it is.
It is a fine line between eliminating doubt and exacerbating the ego.  We are the vehicles of the Gods, but our vehicle must be in working order first.  Would a God (or anyone else in their right mind) drive an automobile without brakes, or that could not steer?  It is a fine line between eliminating doubt and exacerbating the ego because, if the ego is not under control, the idea of “eliminating doubt” simply becomes a vehicle whereby the ego defends its own sense of self importance, rather than reflecting Truth.  Hubris is not the elimination of doubt, it is its amplification.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
Take care,
93, 93/93

Reply: Some of your points are well made ... but always to remember; 'Truth' does not exist below the Abyss thanks to the Laws of Duality. One person's Truth may not be the Truth of another man; hence the dilemma. However, Truth is also a 'tentative' quality rooted in Netzach that, if balanced with the Intellect of Hod, allows us as scientists to make a proper observation and judgement. It is important to Understand that Truth relies upon the fact that 'Change is stability.'  And as a magician we learn that if the same 'experiment' produces the same results, it is time to take the result, which we'll call 'A' and plot a course using our maps (i.e. diaries and magickal records) to move forward ... or  A + B = C.
This Magickal Formula is:

A= Love
     +=       Change
B      = Will

Study this well in Liber Aleph. The Law of Change, whose act is Love under Will, is the enemy of the Black Brother. They resist change and want to remain as 'A', denying 'B' and armed with Self-Love they build a Fortress around themselves denying 'Will' in order to defend their 'Wants.' ... But a magician knows that our True Will (i.e. B) is but a tiny spark of a greater Universal Will; both of which can only be obtained through the Love of Babalon, not Self. The OTO initiations, rooted in the Formula of ON, also reveal these Laws of Babalon in the P.I..

Ah, and 'doubt', the great creator. Unlike Truth which cannot exist Below the Abyss, doubt cannot exist Above the Abyss. ... So, considering doubt from the point of view from below the Abyss, what are 'thoughts'? Crowley has stated that such are born of "Division and of Doubt" and originating by a conflict within thanks to the Laws of Duality. We need doubt, for this drives the scientist in us all to seek 'Change.' ... But doubt is a 'fine' line between allowing us to pursue our Will or Want because, being a quality of Self below the Abyss, it's fueled by ego.

Ben adds - "Jerry, 93 This gets my juices going.  I really like the map analogy. In this context may we describe doubt as analogous to (paraphrasing) CHAOS the sole vice regent of the Sun upon the Earth?  And one step further as the creative urge? 93 93/93  Ben."

Have you ever thought of doing a Tarot Deck, or at least the 22 Major Arcanum? You'd be great at it. ... Also, and most important, hope all goes well with your surgery. All of us here are sending you lots of astral love in your direction. I guess we're both getting old; I go back into the doctor's today for more tests. ... as for Faustus, he is great, he turns 14 on January 10th. He's growing fast and the verdict is still out, depending upon whom you talk with, whether or not he's already taller than me. ... anyway, I look forward to seeing you and Leigh; give the big guy a hug for me and to you, I send smiles.

6:20am Ed Wormuth writes - "93 Jerry, Greetings and salutations on this new year.  I wish you and yours a healthy and rewarding one.
I'm just catching up on your blog as my chances to read it every day were made difficult thru the holidays.
I see that your hopes of resolving issues by year's end with your formerly anonymous Practicus did not come about as planned and that a whole new episode of this dog and pony show is being unveiled for the new year.  It would seem that person has a love of seeing himself in print, no matter in what context. Perhaps it is the old saw "Any publicity is good publicity" and if I read it right that he is founding his own organization, what better way to make it's existence known than to continue to prime the pump of your blog. I sincerely hope that your using his example as a teaching for other students about the pitfalls of the medium in which magicians work.  I have tried to just read along throughout this debacle and glean what I can from the rest of your entertaining and informative missives.  But personally I would have thought that anyone who was paying attention might have got  what there was to be learned from this after the 1st couple of mentions.
Please accept the preceding as a case in point of your warnings concerning Mercury being retrograde and the dangers of running off at the mouth. An especially dire proposition for a Virgo and lover of words such as myself with such close influence from the little-ankle winged guy.
I really just meant to "say hey" and let you know I was still around and enjoying you and your blog.
Hope to see ya' sometime soon. i.e., when next I get to travel to Berkeley.

Ed

And his name shall be called NEMO, when he beholdeth the face of my Father.  And he that tendeth the garden seeketh not to single out the flower that shall be NEMO.  He doeth naught but tend the garden."  (Fr. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6:10am For the history Buffs: Mukunda Lal Ghosh was born on this date in Gorakhpur, India in 1893 into a devout and well-to-do Bengali family as Mukunda Lal Ghosh. The world would know him as Paramahansa Yogananda the founder of the Self-Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles. He was the author of the classic book The Autobiography of a Yogi. (1946). He died on March 7, 1952 from a massive heart attack while attending a banquet in Los Angeles. He lay in state for over twenty days and, according to a signed and notarized statement from the director of Forest Lawn Memorial Park, “no physical disintegration was visited upon his body…it was apparently in a phenomenal state of immutability.” ….......... also, Jeanne Pinchert, more commonly known as Jean Dixon, was born on this date to German in 1904 immigrant parents in Milford, Wisconsin. She was a well-known psychic, Seer and astrologer who always concealed her real age, often citing 1918 as her birth year, but her birth records show that this date is correct. She grew up to be one of our most noted modern psychics, although this title of ‘most noted modern psychics ‘ is dubious considering that she predicted that Russia would be the first nation to put men on the moon, that world War III would begin in 1954 and that the Vietnam war would be over in 1966. Her sole claim to fame rested on a single ‘correct’ prediction that she made in Parade Magazine, May 13, 1956, which stated: “As to the 1960 election, Mrs. Dixon thinks it will be dominated by labour and won by a Democrat. But he will be assassinated or die in office, though not necessarily in his first term.” Naturally, when President Kennedy was assassinated, she quickly reminded the world that she had predicted it. Jeanne Dixon missed her greatest prediction; she died of a heart attack on January 25, 1997, at 2:30 PM, in Washington, DC. Her most famous book was A Gift of Prophecy (1966). …..........  and finally, Grady Louis McMurtry, the future head of Aleister Crowley’s Ordo Templi Orientis, attended his first Gnostic Mass on this date, of January 5th 1941, at Agape Lodge in Pasedena, California. He recalled that the “temple was big enough so that you could have people on both sides of the altar,” and it appears that men sat on one side and the women on the other. The Mass was beautifully performed and one specific point left a lasting impression on Grady. He wrote, “We come down to the Collects. To the point where ‘sap of the world ash, wonder tree’ where all say it together. And I looked around to people sitting on my right and on my left, and I realized ‘These are the people I came down to meet. These are the people I came down to find.’ And that’s how I became a Thelemite.”

Aleister Crowley’s wrote in Rex de Arte Regia, The King on the Royal Art Diaries, on this date in 1915 regarding the opposite sex in New York, that, “women in America seem purely animal. They come like water and like the wind they go. Not one of these operations in this country has ever had the flavor that one gets in Europe.”

Monday January 4th 2010 – 11:15am Under the subject ‘laughing from sheer perversity ... can't help myself”, a Hermit writes – “Jerry, 93. Humans tire me, which is why I keep a distance. I know that you view every challenge as a learning opportunity, and you have that big Cancer heart, which I always marvel. I think you can say that you gave the Sacramento crowd their chance and they failed. That was already in the cards, as they say. As you pointed out, they can now get back to their drug addled ways and pretend that they were unfairly treated. ... So sorry, again.  More and more I am convinced that you can't teach these things unless the person already is a spark of IT. And while I love being a therapist, please pay me up front, lol. I don't like being a therapist to friends, lovers, or students. I guess I am a bit stunned by Jerri's idiocy, even more so than Robert's.  Those who live by penis (or vagina) die by the penis (or vagina). Too many people confuse their god given Sovereignty with their ego: the latter should be the janitor (as Hillman writes of  the soul) of the former. Nothing more.  93 93/93.”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9:40am  An email from anonymous wanted to know if Jerri was privy to info that perhaps proves me wrong and Robert right in regards to the facts. As an example to 'facts'; in one of his rants just last week Robert wrote that my "entire branch was founded by Grady who swore the Oath as a Probationer and was then immediatley expelled by Soror Meral....ahh what hipocracy!” .... No, the real hypocrisy is that Robert claims brilliance but vomits idiocy. Of all the people, he should know better because he thoroughly studied Grady’s life, although in the Qliphoth of Hod it is where one's Knowledge becomes distorted ... obviously he forgot that Grady joined the A.’.A.’. as a Probationer in 1970, Phyllis accepted his Magister Templi for years and it wasn’t until they separated and divorced in 1979 that she ‘expelled him’ which she clearly acknowledged toward the end of her life was simply the bitterness of a divorce. So, she ‘immediately’ expelled him, is this not distorting the facts? ... and Robert also wrote recently in another place – “I’m not asking for any fancy titles: like Phyllis I will never publicly need to claim any grade higher than a Neophyte.” .... But Phyllis openly proclaimed her degree as being in Tiphereth; Robert knew that and he knew the fact that she never kept it secret. ... And I can go on and on citing numerous other, more blatant historical errors that Robert is recently vomiting in order to try to bring his own Foundation (and ours) down in order to 'prove that he's right', we're wrong and that he is Mr. Perfect "Sex Magician" as he is now calling himself on Facebook [although in all fairness he wrote it as "Mad Man and infamouse Sex Magician" ... Mad Man, truth in advertisement, infa-mouse? Freudian slip?] ... anyway, my question is this - "If Robert is willing to distort the known documented history which he knows to be true of others from Grady, Phyllis and myself, then how much are we to believe of the facts regarding what has transpired in his own reality?"   I guess we should ask Jerri that.

9:10am Here is an email that I sent out to friend awhile back - "93 The lower Ruach (between Hod, Netzach and Tiphereth) can be trap easily inflating the ego. This is why the ego must be put under control; why proper Knowledge is so critical, why Bhakti yoga must be understood; especially the closer one draws toward the Sun. You do not want to become 'blinded' by the Light (i.e. ego inflation) and forget lessons learned. Never forget the Greek legend of Icarus. In an attempted to escape from his exile (metaphorically, the body), his father Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son and before they took off his father warned his son not to fly too close to the Sun but Icarus, for what ever reason, soared through the sky as he ‘wanted’ and in the process he came too close to the sun, which melted the wax and Icarus fell into sea, to his death. He didn't listen to his father, his teacher and he paid a heavy price! ... There is a proper way to soar toward the Sun, learn it ... or fall. Start by performing Liber RESH vel Helios every day! 93 93/93 Jerry"

"They successfully flew from Crete, but Icarus grew exhilarated
by the thrill of flying and began getting careless. Flying too close to
the sun god Helios, the wax holding together his wings melted from the heat
and he fell to his death, drowning in the sea."

8:40am C replied to my 7:50am posting – "93 Jer. You know my daughter is still in elementary school but I am presently mentally preparing myself now for her teenage years.  :)  93 93/93 C”.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8:35am Ben writes - "93 Well it sucks for me to have to tell myself that "I told you so" [edited out part] The sad reality is that this die was probably already cast. I wish Jerri well." ..... Reply: Me too. I love her more than she'll ever understand but I guess that this is neither here nor there anymore. I wish her all the best in her travels.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:50am From Connecticut I received this - "Hey Jer 93 Why is it that A.'.A.'. students, like Robert and Jerri, always find the need to trash the Order and its teachers when they leave? Its the same in my lineage. What gives? I think its due to hurt, confusion and I feel that often our children find it easier to blame the parents in their adolescent. Ah yes, it's always mommy and daddy's fault because as children they are always right and we don't understand them. Teenage angst. And then they run away. 93 93/93 C." .... Reply: So, how's your daughter? Isn't she in High School? But seriously ... I agree with the metaphor.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:06am Sadly, and with much regret, I must report that Jerri Judd, Robert Flores' ex-girlfriend in Sacramento, has resigned from the A.'.A.'. ... she wrote - "Robert is not what you think and have made him out to be on many levels...the facts supporting many of your conclusions were not true...and if the foundations of or basis of any conclusion is built upon false or weak premises, the entire structure itself crumbles...this is just a portion of my problem with all of this... I understand as well that I have contributed to your image of him, and I feel that it is fruitless to engage you in a conversation about it (what happened and why) because you have already made up your mind, and clearly don't want to hear what I have to say. I don't think his perspective has been fairly represented...but nothing can be done about it. I cannot in good conscience continue on within a structure who's aim does not appear to be founded in the discovery of truth and doesn't allow for and embrace personal freedom."

For the record, my mind is 'never' carved in stone; if facts present themselves proving me wrong I have always humbly acknowledged my errors. Anyone close to me knows this to be a fact. And when did I ever say that I don't want to hear what she has to say? I have always enjoyed her views. As for Robert, he has had ample amount of time to tell us the truth but each time that he does, it contradicts previous statements and fosters further misconceptions. Whose fault is that ... she seems to imply its mine.  Thanks, I appreciated that.

Anyway, I wrote to another Hermit - "Keep in the back of your mind, even though it was Jeri who had originally been sleeping with Robert, that it was Jerri who also exposed his lies and deceit. If anyone brought the beggar down, it was her but if he were a King, no one like Jerri could have ever really hurt him. Anyway, as magicians we are always told to watch out for the Kundry; she can be virtually anywhere. Crowley warns us of this time and time again. That men attract Kundrys and on the other hand, woman can become the Kundry. Jerri was clearly Robert’s Kundry right from the start, a role she could never shake.

And in the end, Jerri now seems to believe all of Robert’s distortions by writing – “Robert is not what you think and have made him out to be” ... but she tends to forget that it wasn’t I who created the ‘image’ of the facts regarding Robert, nor her ... it was Robert’s own emails who laid the foundation of crazy and my conclusions stand by those. If there is anyone to blame for distortions, it’s him and he’s yet to take any responsibility for his actions. I tried to get him to come down to Berkeley and talk numerous times, face to face, where we could have resolved these issues and have a good laugh but he refused. She forgets, in the Qliphoth of Hod, it was Robert who spun his own Illusions, whether they were right or wrong - he made the bed.  But like him, she is now finding it easier to blame the system at fault rather than the obvious.

Now, after six months, Jerri and him are again hanging around together and talking. Obviously, by all her recent emails, Robert is trying to walk himself out of a bad situation that ‘he’ initially created. He’s had six months to read the blog, realize how and why he’s been such an idiot and to change the story in his mind as to what ‘really’ happened. However, anyone with half a brain can review Robert’s own emails and see that he’s utterly contradicting himself and always mutating the story so that he comes out smelling like roses. ... And with these end results, she’s buying it.  His story may sound ‘good’ now but it doesn’t negate the facts as he himself had laid them out since day one.  That is why I tell all students, don’t put anything into writing unless you’re willing to stand by it 100% because it may come back to haunt you.

Anyway, the flesh is weak and Jerri is a Pisces; unable to shake old loves. Remember what I wrote about this sign – “... Pisces tends to cling to the past and to lovers, bonds are never really severed and there is nothing which can make a Pisces more scatterbrained than seeing an old flame and rekindling the passion, at least for a time.” ... Obviously she is still infatuated with him. So much so that she has become infested with his new found beliefs; or at least her email implies such because it seems that she is now defending him. And so she quits ... because, as she put it – “I cannot in good conscience continue on within a structure who's aim does not appear to be founded in the discovery of truth and doesn't allow for and embrace personal freedom.” ... Besides this statement reeking of Robert drool, does our denying of Robert’s new ‘Truth’ mean that we are automatically at fault? And also, because we won’t accept Robert’s distortions of magickal theory to prove his greatness, are we really denying his ‘personal Freedom’?

This entire episode is exactly why Aleister Crowley said A.’.A.’. students should not hang around together, nor get intimate, because if one goes mad, they corrupt the lot."

[and so the story continues, with lessons for all to learn ...]

5:20am For the history buffs: On January 4, 1878 the artist Augustus John was born in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, S.W. Wales on this date. He studied art in London and Paris and made an early reputation with his etchings. His favorite themes were gypsies, fishing folk and naturally regal women, as in Lyric Fantasy (1913). He also enjoyed painting portraits of political and artistic contemporary figures, such as Shaw, Hardy, and Dylan Thomas. He even drew numerous sketches of Aleister Crowley throughout his lifetime but probably his most famous was for the frontpiece in Crowley’s book titled OLLA, An Anthology of Sixty Years of Song (1946). Of his earlier sketches, John described them briefly in letter to Evan Morgan, or Lord Tredegar, wherein he wrote: “Aleister Crowley is in no way admirable; I even doubt his carnal prowess. The face I have drawn is that of a vulgar charlatan - a coarse bad mystagogue.” Augustus John died on Tuesday October 31st in 1961. ….......... It is considered by some that Roddie Minor or Sister Achitha’s visions, which actually began on this date in 1918, appear to be no more than hallucinations produced by ‘Our lady of Dreams’ (opium), lacking any real occult significance but Aleister Crowley found them extremely impressive and claimed that the visions put him in contact with a spirit known as the wizard Amalantrah. ….......... and Jack Parsons began the rites known as The Babalon Working on this date in California in 1946, and they continued on for a few weeks. Parsons’ intent was to invoke and incarnate an Elemental or Familiar Spirit ... a ‘Moonchild’ in the purest sense. These rituals began precisely at nine o’clock every night, often performed with Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto Number 2 as an accompaniment. The scribe throughout some of these earlier rituals was L. Ron Hubbard. Then on January 18th, as Parsons records: “at sunset, while the Scribe and I were in the Mojave Desert, the feeling of tension suddenly snapped.” A calm came over the air and at this stage Parsons turned to Hubbard and told him that he felt “It is done.” He felt “in absolute certainty that the operation was accomplished.” Upon returning home he “found a young woman answering the requirements waiting for me” at the door. Jack described his ‘familiar’ as “an air of fire type with bronze red hair, fiery and subtle, determined and obstinate, sincere and perverse, with extraordinary personality, talent, and intelligence.” The woman whom Parsons was referring is Marjorie Cameron. Now that he had his Elemental Spirit or ‘earthly vehicle,’ the next stage was to prepare her to be the ‘Mother of Babalon.’ These rituals continued till late February, the last occurring on the 27th. The following day, February 28th, Jack Parsons headed into the Mojave Desert alone. After the appropriate invocations, Parsons wrote, “the presence of the Goddess came upon me, and I was commanded to write ...”  This ‘Communication’ as Jack Parsons would later call it was seventy-seven verses, later named Liber 49, The Book of Babalon. It is very fascinating to read, although the most outrageous claim is in Verse 2 where it states, “And this is my book, that is the fourth chapter of The Book of the Law.” It appears that Crowley’s three previously manifested Chapters of Liber AL vel Legis represented Yod-He-Vau, the Father, Mother and Son - Babalon now communicated the fourth and final chapter, that of the Daughter, the final He. On March 1st and 2nd Jack Parsons prepared a special altar in accordance with the instructions found in Liber 49. Little was obtained this evening but one warning would later manifest with frightening consequences. The scribe recorded, “Beware the use of profaned rituals. She (Babalon) is the flame of life, power of darkness, she destroys with a glance, she may take thy soul. She feeds upon the death of man.” It continued with commands to perform another ritual the next day, concentrating all one’s energy and being in Our Lady Babalon. Parsons was required to light a single candle on ‘Her’ altar, saying: “Flame is Our Lady, flame is her hair. I am flame.” …........... and Christopher Bradshaw Isherwood died on this date in 1986 in Santa Monica at the age of 82. He was a champion with his controversial stand on gay liberation. In 1955 he experimented with the drug Kif while in Tangier while visiting the novelist and poet Paul Bowles. He fictionalized his account in a short story titled A Visit to Anselm Oakes, which he included in his book Exhumation. Some have speculated that Anselm Oakes was actually based on Paul Bowles but actually Oakes is “a figure primarily modelled on Alistair {sic} Crowley.” This is obvious because instead of the typical Crowley greeting of “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law,” Anselm Oakes uses a corrupt version, “The Will is the Law, the Law is the Will.” It might be interesting to note that in the opening paragraph to this story one of the main characters states, “I don’t trust Anselm,” as if to mimic an unconscious view which Isherwood himself shared about the Great Beast. Originally the story was the final episode of Isherwood’s book titled Down There on a Visit. However, not “long before the novel was published, in 1962,” he “suddenly decided to take the visit to Anselm out of it.” Years later, in his private journal, Isherwood made another rather amusing comment about Crowley. He wrote, “The truly awful thing about Crowley is that one suspects he didn’t really believe in anything. Even his wickedness. Perhaps the only thing that wasn’t fake was his addiction to heroin and cocaine.”

Sunday January 3rd 20010 – 3:45pm I uploaded the next installment, or 29th, of the series which Frater Hymenaeus Alpha 777 (Grady Louis McMurtry) wrote on magick and philosophy. The series is titled FROM THE CALIPH. The first article appeared in The Magickal Link in October of 1981. The latest installment was originally published in The Magickal Link, Volume IV No.2 February 1984e.v. and is titled ON THE BAPHOMET ... I wish to thank Frater Petros for making this page possible by scanning the original and computer entering it into a Word file.  ... Click HERE for details.

10:10am Now Available, a new book - The Magic Seal of John Dee. The Sigillum Dei Aemeth by Colin D. Campbell.  Published by The Teitan Press. First Edition - Limited to 777 Numbered Copies. Hardcover, small quarto (8 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches, approx 22.2 x 17.2cm).  Black cloth with gilt sigils stamped on the front & rear covers, blind rules, and gilt title etc. on the spine. Color frontispiece and one colour & one black and white plate.  Various b&w illustrations and tables in text. Appendixes & index. Teitan Press, Maine, 2009 / 2010.  Edition limited to 777 numbered copies. The Magic Seal of John Dee comprises a detailed examination of the history and structure of the Sigillum Dei Aemeth of the Elizabethan scholar and Magus, Dr. John Dee, as well as a study of its use in the practice of ritual magic. The appendixes include a new transcription and translation of Dee's Liber Mysteriorum Secundus, and an important new translation of the section of the famous grimoire, The Sworn Book of Honorius, that gives details of what is clearly a precursor of the Sigillum Dei. From the standpoint of a practicing magician, the work has two clear aims: "to demonstrate the importance of the pattern established by Dee's Sigillum Dei as opposed to its implementation, and to bring the Sigillum Dei out of the limited confines of the Enochian temple and into its role as a powerful magickal system in its own right. The recognition of the patterns established in the construction of the Sigillum Dei allow us to view the seal in a new light, not as a static framework decided once and for all hundreds of years ago in the study of a Rennaissance magician, but as one that can be reconstituted in the light of modern interpretation. Furthermore, the seal is, in essence, a system of evocation - the very same method of communication used by Dee & Kelley in its reception. This book explains the nature and method of this approach and how the practicing magician is able to use the Sigillum Dei in the manner in which it was truly intended - as a powerful system of planetary magick." ... The author, Colin D. Campbell, is a member of the O.T.O. and long-term student and teacher of the Thelemic, Kabbalistic, and Enochian magickal systems. ...  In celebration of the launch of The Magic Seal of John Dee Weiser Antiquarian Books have a limited number of copies, each of which  comes with a special 'launch-week' bookplate signed by Colin D. Campbell on the front pastedown.  The signed copies are available strictly on a "first come, first served basis," with a limit of two per customer, and will only be available during the launch week. For the launch week ONLY we will also offer free Priority Mail Postage & Packing within the USA and discount shipping overseas. ... 10:05am Regarding the 'Missing Sea-Lion' posting on our blog on December 29th 5:18pm where I reported that 2,000 plus sea-lions mysteriously disappeared from San Francisco Bay, Dave Solina from Florida sent us this link - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8438215.stm - pointing out, it seems, that the animals simply moved to Oregon. Ben Hance read the article and quickly replied - "Damn!!!  California is so broke even the animals are leaving!!!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9:50am Micheal from Oregon writes - "93 Jerry, Totally appreciate your blog and the information richness of it. It makes me really grateful that I've got internet connection. Was saddened and educated by that drama you've been through with Flores. I had to read the WHOLE thing from the beginning, again! Thanks for the hyper link. Ended up being sucked into it, like it was a movie. It's something we will all grow from though, thanks to you sharing it and letting others address it.  I had a very cathartic and vicarious experience with it."

Reply: I am glad that you have enjoyed the blog. Always remember, every act is a magickal act; we learn by experience. Since our True Will is really the reason behind why we incarnated it only seems right, as scientists and magicians, that we explore our surroundings both within ourselves and others. A child sticks his hand in fire, he gets burned and he learns a valuable lesson. Don't be stupid. A child who watches him get burned also learns the same lesson. In the old days of magick, pre Inter-net, we had to deal with the same issues over and over again as each student rose up and started to play with fire. These closed door days are now opened. All our students (and outsiders) can see how a magician gets burned and hopefully, not make the same mistakes. Robert was the not the first to falter, Crowley clearly says the majority do. But at least with the Internet we can share his story in order that others might learn that Robert tripped on a rock as he climbed the Sacred Mountain, and by pointing my finger to the rock, hopefully others will avoid tripping on it.  ... Oddly, a few of my other friends joked with me about the 'drama' being like a Soap Opera that they were drawn into. How funny, I never quite thought of it that way but I can see how others would tune in to see 'what next?'

Michael added - "Also, I have to mention, love the movie reviews. My netflix/hunt-down-movies-list is growing." ..... Reply: I love movies. You can buy alot them used that I review really, really, cheap on Amazon.com.  I got Yo-Yo Girl Cop for $1.50 plus $2.50 postage. It was near mint. Not bad.

9:45am Joe sent an email last night, he wrote - "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Once one has “reached enlightenment” it seems there is a decision to either be a part of the world or to insulate oneself from the world.  Insulation would perhaps make one more of a Buddhist, and not a verb at all, but a shut – in, no longer interested in what is ‘out there”. Some of us decide to be in the world - and to savor its joy and its tears and to be there to reach out to help others if they seek IT . Speaking from my own experiences I decided to continue on in the world - it was a long time ago - or seems like a long time ago. Every once in a while my practice takes me close to the “feeling fo bliss” which came with daily practice – and once and a while I have the urge to go on a sabbatical, and get back to that state of mind. When this occurs I know that I am lusting for results - but the “feeling” persists – I wonder where this comes from - and I also wonder if this is common amongst other folks - and if there is a label or a name put to this - in which case it may make it easer to ‘understand’ - maybe I just need a vacation from everything and its manifesting as this - Anyhoo…, Any thoughts??

Love is the law, love under will.

Reply: Yes, a Hermit can either stand on the Sacred Mountain alone, simply holding a Lantern to guide the weary travels upward or he can come back down 'into' world in order to teach. This decision can 'only' be made above the Abyss, not below. There is a reason for it.  However, in either case, the Hermit cannot remain above the Abyss and when he does descend, he immerses himself automatically back into 'duality'; hence he must be on his guide constantly. But, if he were a true Hermit he'd know how to deal with this. ... Anyway, as a Thelemite, I chose to incarnate into the world for a reason, which is called my True Will and I Understand that no two 'experiences' or types of 'feelings' are the same ... if so, we could simply write a text book for all to follow.  I love this world, its my playground.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8:05am For the History Buffs: on this date in 1892 a child was born in a hospital in Bloemfontein, South Africa but within days the baby was stolen by a local native. Testimony later showed that the woman simply wanted to take the child home to show the rest of her family. Apparently none of them had ever seen such an oddity before – a ‘white child’.  Since it was an ‘innocent act of curiosity’ no charges were pursued and the little blue eyed, fair haired and ‘high-domed headed’ baby who was named John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was returned unharmed. Thus was the remarkable beginning of J. R. R. Tolkien the author who wrote The Hobbit and the classic trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, which are highly imaginative stories about elves, dwarves, and wizards in a land known as Middle Earth. Characters like the hobbits Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, along with the wizard Gandalf figure prominently in these stories. He died on September 2, 1973. ….......... Also of note; the Ahathoor Temple No.7 of The Hermetic Order of The Golden Dawn was consecrated by MacGregor Mathers in Paris, France on this date in 1894. Although it might have been due to his autocratic tone and what some historians believed to be his growing friendship with Aleister Crowley, a practicing homosexual, but this would be the last Temple of the Mathers’ branch of the Golden Dawn.  ….......... although my favorite thing occurring on this date is what Aleister Crowley briefly wrote in his diary in 1931 on January 3rd, or that “practically all woman ought to be chloroformed at 35”,  but here is no indication before or after this remark which might give the reader some indication as to what prompted this comment but, knowing Uncle Al, it could be anyone’s guess. ….......... and finally, it should be pointed out that Harold Angel, a private eye depicted in the movie Angel Heart, was hired by Louis Cyphre on this date in 1955 to track down the black magician Johnny Favorite who had fled into obscurity before fulfilling the payment of his ‘soul’ to Lucifer.

Saturday January 2nd 2010 – 1:17pm Ben writes - "Jerry, 93 I liked the Ricky post. It reminded me of this, "The great obstacle is not ignorance but the illusion of knowledge." (Daniel J. Boorstin). 93 93/93 Ben." ...... Reply: Nice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11:20am Our friend Ricky writes - "Jerry 93, I hope your new years went well, "Yo Yo Girl Cop" sounds like a good one I'll have to check that out! ... It really is a sad thing that none of this "Abyss" business could be worked out in a more mature way. But I don't understand why someone claiming to have the high goal of truly helping humanity would resign from that path that he'd chosen to do it through. Isn't one of the first rules in climbing the Mountain to choose a Path and stick to it no matter what? In the beginning of all of this, as was said before, there was a sort of catch 22. If he had truly been in the Abyss or at least thought wholeheartedly that he was this whole scenario would have seemed like The Ordeal, I can see that. It would have been a tough one and one would expect a person with any fortitude or conviction what so ever in such a state to hold their ground. But the recent correspondences show that this was not the case. It is a confusing matter for those outside of his head. ... Your 2:50 post of yesterday could be read to imply that he has become a Black Brother, is this the stance you take on him? I ask because (and I don't pretend to know the path so well as to say that this is absolutely correct) I thought one had to actually be IN the Abyss and be thrown out of it to become such. I was under the understanding that a Black Brother had attained, before his fall, to the complete mastery of all forms of attainment, and this is what makes them such formidable opponents!? ... It would seem to me that one stuck in the Qliphoth of Hod would equate more to a babbling fool on the street corner with an "The end is Near" sandwich board?? ... Anyway, I was hoping it would turn out better that this but at least we know something else not to do now.  93 93/93 Ricky.”

Reply: Yes, it is sad. If he were truly on a 'spiritual' path it would be for humanity's sake, not his. Since it is obvious that he doesn't understand the distinction, he has never fully left the horizontal plane. ... Anyway, throughout it all, we never ‘outed’ the identity of the Practicus hoping that he would come around and see the Light. Sadly, it wasn’t until he thought it necessary to send around his ‘resignation’ letter that the cat became out of the bag. Flores, if he were a magican, would have kept his mouth shut under a Mercury Retrograde. ... Although some do, I don’t think of him as a full Black Brother since he’s doesn’t really qualify, not having fallen from the Abyss. Although, because he was in the Ruach, his symptoms are similar but without being an Exempt Adept who has some sort of “mastery of all forms of attainment” he simply babbles from where he stands, or from the Qliphoth of Hod; the Intellect, the realm of distorted facts, data and illusions and he is becoming a master at this. ... If nothing else our readers can review our posting in either a negative or positive way. Those wallowing on Malkuth will see only the negative of gossip, pettiness and drama. The magician, on the other hand, must learn to see between the lines; take things to the positive, to see the ‘signs’ in order to interpret them on a daily basis in order to hold your sanity in check. This is the greatest gift our postings can offer would be magicians. To show them that magick is not a game, it's real and playing in your mind in the depths of the Ruach can truly evoke, as Israel Regardie warns - insanity... And in understanding this, you'll realize that ‘thought’ is our number one greatest tool in the Ruach; hence the need to properly learn Chastity. Also, review our December 30th 1:40pm posting. Remember; on the most lowly mundane level, men ‘think’ about woman and we become aroused; the Kundalini moves upward but you must learn to ‘think’ correctly, or the head droops back down to Earth; this metaphor is true on all planes ... and 'thinking' for those in the man of Earth is simply learning the Laws that are the foundation stone of all magick. Don't mutate them! As an example: you don't go to College to study medicine and in the first few years tell your professors that they're full of shit; you don't believe what they are teaching and you'll do medicine your way ... if so, you'll be booted out. Obviously you didn't belong in College. On the other hand, once you have learned the proper scientific date and gone through all the medical training (i.e. Adeptus Exemptus) you can specialize, discover new things and teach your own theories (i.e. Magister Templi). Until that stage, buckle down, study hard and remember - "People who avoid facing facts are bounded by phantoms" It's a great quote by Aleister Crowley.

6:45am Well, for last night's MOVIE NIGHT at our Open House we decided to watch YO-YO GIRL COP. If you'd like to read my review, click HERE. Yes, we were all amused. I'd recommend, if you ever get the DVD, to watch the special feature titled the 'Making of You-You Girl Mission' right after the movie. And if you really want a few laughs, for 'subtitle' click on English and for 'Language' click on English. They are different, sometimes really in a funny way. All in all, despite a few groans, I enjoyed the movie. I'm not sure what this says of my headspace.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6:30am For the history buffs: this date is the birthday of the Sumerian Queen of Heaven and Earth named Inanna.  She journeyed into the underworld only to find herself turned into a corpse and the only way for her to leave was to provide a substitute. She thought hard and decided it was best that she make available her husband as the substitute; a story of true love. ….......... and Joanna Southcott died on this date of brain disease at the age of 64 in 1815. She was the controversial British prophetess and religious visionary. She was buried in Marylebone Cemetery. She had been born in April of 1750 in the County of Devon in the West Country of England. Little is known of her childhood but late in her life, in 1792, she proclaimed openly that she had obtained the gift of prophecy. Soon afterwards she announced that she was the woman mentioned in The Book of Revelation, Chapter 12 and that she would be the mother of the coming Messiah.  She wrote over sixty some odd books. However, despite the fact that she never gave birth to any children her followers continued to believe in her long after her death. She left a locked box with special instructions that it should be opened only in the presence of all the bishops at a time of national crisis. However, in 1928 when the box was opened, all agreed; “it revealed nothing of interest." …..........also, George Gilbert Aime Murry, better known simply as Gilbert Murray, was born on this date in Sydney, Australia in 1866. He later became the President of the Society for Psychical Research (1915-1916) in England and was famous for his thought-transference experiments. He died in 1957. ….......... and I should point out that Issac Asimov was born on January 2nd in Petrovichi, Russia in 1920. At age of three he moved with his family to America. He is an extraordinarily popular science-fiction writer and one of the most prolific in history; producing around 450 books in his lifetime and thousands of articles in professional and mass-market publications; a few of his most notable stories being I, Robot (1950) and Fantastic Voyage (1966).  To clarify his belief as to whether or not there was intelligent life in outer space he once wrote, “Let me make my position clear, since I don’t want my writing to be used as a basis for a point of view that I consider folly. I don’t believe in flying saucers.” Asimov died in 1992 at the age of 72 from AIDS-related heart and kidney failure, a consequence of an infected blood transfusion during a triple bypass operation in 1983. ….......... and finally, Robert Louis Stevenson’s (1850-1894) classic book titled Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, about the consequences of letting one’s dark side run wild, was made into a Hollywood movie and released publicly on this date in 1932.

JANUARY 1st 2010 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Yesterday I received a few emails wondering about tonight's OPEN HOUSE. We thought about it and fearing that many people might not have many brain cells left after drinking too much on New Years so a lecture or talk might be a bit too much, so yes, we are having our OPEN HOUSE ... but its simply a Movie Night. Anyway, we are going to watch one of two DVDs which arrived this week. The first is called YO-YO GIRL COP (2006). This is billed as an over-the-top style movie, part serious, part comedy, intense non-stop action movie based entirely on a Japanese anime from the original Sukeban Deka series detailing the exploits of female special agents operating undercover in a High School wearing hot school girl outfits and using yo-yo's as weapons. Need I say more? ... although my other choice to watch is an intense ghost story called SHIKOKU (1999) whose DVD box states "Some things are better left dead." Although Kuriyama Chiaki, aka Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill, is on the cover of this DVD, her presence as the ‘villain’ in this horror film is said not to be that extensive but that's ok, she looks 'hot'. ... Anyway, I'm not sure which one I'll watch, a ghost story or Kung-Fu High School Yo-Yo Cops but if anyone wants to attend it is mandatory that you must bring a donation of booze. Ben Hance has supplied popcorn. Doors will open at 6:30pm, movie begins around 7:30pm.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This section may be added to or changed throughout the day:

I posted this on my Facebook page – “HAPPY NEW YEAR & I begin it with no hang-over! An omen?  I hope everybody had a great time last night, mine was quiet but enjoyable. I don't think I drank as much as all the empty bottles I see in the kitchen. I think it was the beer fairies who partied after I went to sleep.” .... Lots of 'Happy New Year' emails are coming it. Thanks back to everyone, and may the New Year bring all of you joy too!  ... A few to post: Andy Walker writes - "Jerry: 93. I hope which ever movie you chose wound up being a good one. Happy New Years and I'll hopefully get a few opportunities to swing by and say hi a few times over the upcoming year.” ... and Helen, Ben and Mick simply sent – "Happy New Year Jerry!" ... and Ricardo writes – “My dear friend! May this coming year bless you and your Work. May it be productive and rewarding to your Dharma and your spiritual descendants!” My reply to him, the same back at ya! ... and at 4:10pm Kon Stewart writes - "A Most Happy New Year wish to you from Hong Kong." .... 5:12pm Heather writes - "Happy Nu Year!!" ... and others like Charles writes - "93s Jerry Happy New Years to you" and Matt sent - "I want to wish you all the best for 2010. You've been a great friend to me and I'm looking forward to more good times." .... Me too!

11:03pm Wow, our movie night is over, everyone left and I shouldn't have checked my emails. I have been inundated all of a sudden from friends who are sharing numerous messages that Robert Flores has been sending out on FaceBook; not just one but many, one after another. I have not seen them all but I'm told that Robert is trying to trash Grady McMurtry's A.'.A,'. and it teachings in order to convince others that we're wrong and he is right in resigning. Ah, the drama! Robert is rapidly becoming the laughing stock of the magickal community. One friend wrote - "Orpheus Is sending crazy stuff to me on face book, 5 letters, he’s nut's." Another who is not in our A.'.A.'. lineage said - "He's pathetic, he needs a life" ... another person questioned, or joked - "Is this another of your parodies Jerry? It's too funny to be really taken serious. What gives?" ... And all the incoming emails are basically saying the same thing, who the fuck is this crazy guy and "why did your lineage allow him in?" One outsider even added - "We thought your lineage was far better than that."  So, I wish Robert would stop sending out posting because he's affecting Grady McMurtry's lineage by implying that we accept crazies ... but if that is his goal, I guess he's succeeding.

My personal advice - dignity. Stop whining and stamping your feet, it's unbecoming of you Robert and it's doing more damage to your 'Magickal Image'  than it's worth. There is a Mercury Retrograde right now, bite you tongue and think of your future, the Foundation that you are laying right now will determine whether or not you'll ever be taken seriously. Believe it or not, despite all your tirades, lies and attacks on me of late, I only wish you the best. As a friend, I simply see you as a wounded soul.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2:50pm To address afew inquires; no, I am not going to post Robert Flores' resignation letter on-line as not to embarrass him further. He did not resign with dignity. A Minerval in OTO wouldn't have made as many Thelemic errors in a letter as he did regarding what he terms his “fundamental Thelemic principles” which reek more of Satanism, like the crazed justification of a closet Christian, rather than a true Thelemite. ... Anyway, one of our Hermit's did say it best when he wrote - "Jerry, I give you cudos for being patient and smoking him out. His rage and impotence finally came to the fore. And, this is a great letter to share with select students on what a Black Brother sounds like, what to look out for in people's rhetoric. In psychology, we would say these people are narcissistically wounded, unable to truly take in the reality of another human being, lacking empathy, and most importantly, unable to admit and take responsibility for, the injuries they cause other people. The Scorpion stinging itself to death! I have no tears to shed for him, even metaphorically." ... I cannot have said it better.

Still, there are a few parts of Robert's tome I wish to mention. Like where he writes - “I agree with you that as my Teacher it was your position to point out when you thought I was an idiot but I never gave you the authority to Judge me.”  .... Reply: This is a totally contradictory statement; isn’t calling you an idiot judging you? Anyway, I might ask you – “Why did you join A.’.A.’.?”  It’s called a College for a reason. We don’t play child-like pampering High School games, we test our students in a Alchemical furnace to make them the best magickal thinkers. It’s a big boy’s school. And I am not “constantly trying to knock you back based upon [my] own projections” ... I’m trying to get you to think like a magician; not reasoning like someone on Malkuth.  College is hard, Robert. ... The A.'.A.'. and OTO [whence you come out of] is like a College and a High School.  One you can do just about anything that you want, while the other you have to buckle down and study or you'll be thrown out. Obviously, you didn't belong in College.

When he wrote – “My Universe has it’s own laws and my path up the Mountain not yours…in fact we may even have different Mountains!” ... Reply: Might I point out As Above, So Below. There is no ‘different’ mountain. The mountain is simply a metaphor for the spiritual advancement of humanity in general. Yes, there are numerous paths up the mountain but that doesn’t negate the over-all Laws of the Universe which he seems to imply when he writes - “Maybe I’m the Antichrist but unlike you I simply do not so closely follow Crowley’s model, or any founded upon Old Aeonic cabalistic principles, where there is no room for personal CREATIVITY.” .... Reply: I wish to point out that the first stage to Self Masturbation is to create a phrase like ‘personal creativity’ which is really just another way for whining children who can’t learn or focus in school to justify their failures. The second stage you also achieved; which is for you to attack and destroy the system which proves you are a failure. The third stage you are most likely working on right now. This will be for you to create a new model for the Universe which proves you’re right, everybody else is wrong and you’re God.  The fourth and final stage, is my suggestion – therapy.

Another student who heard of Robert's resignation writes - "Thank you for sharing the magical implications of these events.  It is always sad to see the fall of an immature fruit of your tree, but you manage to turn it around by making a lesson out of it that can help your lineage. Thank you for your dedication!"

8:03am Yes, to my friend in Connecticut, my posting on the blog on Sunday December 27th at 5:00pm most likely cause Robert Flores to resign from the A.'.A.'.. You're right that in previous postings he openly stated that he'd quit the Order if he couldn't achieve the crossing of the Abyss. That was his goal, nothing less. But fret not old friend, in Robert's Universe he'll achieve it! That is the Beauty of the Qliphoth; it allows you to be anything you want to be. Hee Hee.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7:35am Sadly, and with much regret, I must announce the closing of the AUM HA Clerk House which was established by Robert Flores in Sacramento California. He is the Practicus known as Frater Orpheus, who has had all the crazy ordeals thrown at him in the regards to the Abyss and the Qliphoth of Hod. Last night he sent us his written resignation from the A.'.A.'..  I will not post his lengthy five page tirade vomiting his resignation. It is merely something that he wrote trying to defend his actions by viciously attacking me, the Order and the entire magickal system which didn't recognize his 'greatness.' It is so far off kilter with distorted facts that a first year psychology major would ask - "Who is he trying to convince, us or himself?" ... He is obviously angry, hurt and rather than being a man, acting dignified and resigning with honor, he chose to stamp his feet, whine, bellyache, take his toys and go to his room crying where the 'model of his Universe' is his sanctity. It only proves what we've been saying all last years. Some people just belong on Malkuth, their ego thinks themselves higher, but their actions and words always reveal the Truth.

6:55am I received this email yesterday that I thought I might share : "Dear Jerry, Thanks again for your permission to use the Hubbard-related section of In The Name Of The Beast. I presented your piece here: http://blacklies.xenu.ca/archives/229 ... I've also announced that page on Operation Clambake: http://ocmb.xenu.net/ocmb/viewtopic.php?p=371635#371635. ... Best to you in 2010. Sincerely, Caroline Letkeman"

6:35am For the history buffs: James Frazer was born on January 1st in Glasgow, Scotland in 1854. He authored the monumental study in comparative folklore, religion and magic titled The Golden Bough (1890). He died on May 7, 1941 in Cambridge, England. ............  Also, at the age of seventy-two, the Revd. William Alexander Ayton decided to join the British occult fraternity known as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. He took the motto of Frater Virtute Orta Raris. He died about twenty years later on this very date in Saffron Walden, Hertfordshire in 1909. The Revd. Ayton once wrote to his friend W. B. Yeats that he had actually manufactured the elixir of life - “A French alchemist said that it had the right smell and the right color ... but the first effect of the elixir is that your finger nails fall out and your hair falls off.  I was afraid that I might have made a mistake and that nothing else might happen, so I put it away on a shelf. I meant to drink it when I was an old man, but when I took it down the other day and it had all dried up.” ............ also of interest, I should point out that the history of the Ordo Templi Orientis in America began on this date in 1915 with Charles Stansfeld Jones (1886-1950) being granted a patent by Aleister Crowley to establish the O.T.O. in North America. Jones created the British Columbia Lodge No.1. One of the first members was Wilfred T. Smith, who signed the O.T.O. Pledge Form on January 18th; taking Minerval initiation on April 17th. Smith later joined Crowley’s A*A* as a Probationer in March of 1916; taking the magickal motto of Nubem Eripiam (I will snatch away the cloud). Smith later founded Agape Lodge No.1 in North Vancouver, Canada and in June of 1921 he swore the A*A* Oath of the Abyss and assumed the magickal motto of Frater Velle Omnia Velle Nihil 132 (To will all, to will nothing). In early April of 1922 Smith moved to southern California where he began working for the Department of the Southern California Gas Company in Los Angles. Here Smith establishment Agape Lodge No.2. ............ and Aleister Crowley, the notorious Great Beast 666, wrote a deep philosophical piece of wisdom in his private diary on January 1, 1929 in regards to his favorite religion  “Christianity is like a painted mummy; expose it to fresh air, & it crumbles to dirt.” ............What other piece of historical trivia can I dig up? Ah, here is something else to note. It was on this date in 1946 that the author Eliza M. Butler, a professor at Cambridge University, left London enroute to Netherwood to interview ‘Old Crow’ or Aleister Crowley for her new book, The Myth of the Magus. She later wrote; as she stood in the hall, “a seedy figure in light tweed knickerbockers materialised on the stairs and a grating voice was heard to utter: ‘Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law’.” She claimed that her direct response to Crowley’s statement was an unspoken comment which immediately ran through her mind: “In that case...I’m for the next train back” — but, somehow, she decided to stay. Butler claimed that Crowley “was more repulsive that I had expected, and his voice was the ugliest thing about him: thin, fretful, scratchy - a pedantic voice and a pretentious manner ... I could not take him seriously.” When The Myth of the Magus was finally published a year after Crowley’s death in 1948 he was only briefly mention as being the “amanuensis of Aiwass,” or ‘secretary’ of his Holy Guardian Angel; nothing more. Ironically, in his diaries on this date, Aleister Crowley write, “Prof. Butler of Newham came & talked with such sympathy, consideration, and understanding that the day was a dream of joy!” ............ and finally, I’d like to report that on January 1, 1976 a five-foot tall, huge, bald, black bird, with large red eyes and with a six-inch long beak in the center of its gorilla-like face was seen by many people in the Rio Grande Valley of Mexico. Some claimed it was a prehistoric Pterodactyl. Witnesses said that it was standing with its wings folded around its large body making a loud shrill “eeeeeee” sound and that its wings sounded almost bat like when it took off. Those who reported seeing the creature said that its face was horrifying with large red eyes of ‘pure evil.’ One family member reported that the bird was seemingly watching their daughter and her little playmate. When the fathers of the two little girls later went out to investigate the area where the creature had been seen they found prints that were eight inches across squared at the top with three-toed impressions and about two inches deep in the hard dry dirt. One of the men attempted to gauge the weight of the bird. His weight was about 170 pounds and even jumping up and down hard on the hard dry dirt, he was unable to make even a slight impression. Later that evening, once the family dog was unchained in order to come into the house for dinner, it darted in and refused to leave the safety of the house all night. A second sighting of the bird was made six days later by a motorist on January 7, 1976.
